What?Our reserves side?
Yeah the other Port Adelaide ..the real one.
Not the make-believe one..
I'm not hung up on whether the VFA name returns or not. I know there are older people in the footy community who have a nostalgia for that era but as someone who grew up after the VFA died out, my main concern is that we have a competition where we have a chance to thrive. The exact name of that competition is less of an issue.I just think the AFL has a responsibility to leave the VFL/VFA in a good spot. Even though life isn't that fair. Seeing as they destroyed it.
Casey scorpions
Preston bullants
North Ballarat roosters/new name
Bendigo Diggers/gold/new name
Port Melbourne Borough
Williamstown Seagulls
Sandringham Zebras
Frankston Dolphins
Werribee Tigers
Coburg Lions
Box Hill Mustangs
Geelong West Giants/rename back to Roosters/ new name(formerly Geelong West in the VFA until late 80s)
Fitzroy Maroons
(14th club preferably existing. No idea who. Maybe a club that has history in the VFA that is going strong and is in a good geographic area. Etc Waverley)
Call the league VFA or VFL. To me that's a good second tier Victorian league. Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong as far as they go. No need for any teams further than that. Didn't feel right not including them and gives regional kids a chance to make it. How's the history of this potential league.
I am not sure what the situation is like in WA but Port Adelaide and Adelaide play under an agreement with the SANFL that places them real disadvantage in developing junior players. It will be sad to lose the Magpie brand and the iconic PB guernsey but the AFL have been pussy footing around a National Reserves competition for too long and this move, which is likely to be followed by Adelaide, West Coast and Fremantle should result in all AFL clubs fielding Reserve grade sides in the same competition and that makes sense.
Pretty sure they were building the pyramids in Egypt when your boys last won a finalAncient history mate. It’s 2023 ..let the past go and accept the fact your make believe club owned by the AFL has no connection to Port SANFL Magpies and their glorious past success.
They'll leave if they want more exposure & a potential crack at AFL.A national reserves comp will be third tier footy at best. The AFL will tell you it’s second tier and the sheep will believe them but a colts comp has always been levels below men’s footy. AFL reserves are basically kids still learning. That doesn’t change calling it a national reserves comp. Good seasoned men footballers won’t leave the WAFL and SANFL to play for clubs who do t care about winning a flag unless you are paying them full time football salary’s.
That would be great. The SANFL should ban them effective immediately.

The SANFL standard is average at best I'm not sure what you've been watching over in WA.They wont fall for the possible AFL crack after they are not selected for 4-5 years. They will play in a serious comp like the SANFL and WAFL and leave the training comp to the AFL reserves

As I said above Port made finals with baby talls & rubbish top ups you are kidding yourself.Seasoned WAFL and SANFL players are upset you clubs might be leaving as it’s the easiest day of the year playing against your kids.

Low blow. Pathetic effort.Pretty sure they were building the pyramids in Egypt when your boys last won a final
Valid points that deluded Power fans should digest.Haha, you guys struggle in the SANFL.
You will be leaving a second tier comp to go and play in a third tier comp. I don’t care if you hate the SANFL but if you cant acknowledge that the comp is a good solid comp and think an AFL reserve comp would be a higher std is just laughable.

I concur. The SANFL should ban them effective immediately.

A wildly unbalanced Port side filled with raw young talls & weak top ups made the finals.. says it all.
You have no idea how strong the wafl is…the skill level.I worry for the WAFL if they can't beat the Snaffell in a 'state' game jeezus.
Speaking of standard of play, the top 8 VFL clubs this year (leaving out the northern interlopers for now) were a good mix.
2 standalones (Werribee and Willy)
2 alignments (Casey and Box Hill)
4 reserves (Dogs, Collingwood, Richmond and North)
Works well and teams are well matched.
To suggest it’s all going to be changed and upended because of Port Adelaide, a club not even in the competition, is ridiculous.
Go to bed mate. You have no idea how strong the wafl is…the skill level.
But how could you?
..you live in shitty Adelaide and have no idea what’s so ever on what’s going on beyond the border.
im still yet to hear a decent argument to this, it’s the spell Kochie castsHow are they disadvantaged?
