Hinkley/koch fatigue factor has worn most down. Still think most care, but have been repeatly burnt. As you suggest Sat will give us a better read on whats been happening off season gamestyle wise.

Anyone know a good place to watch rnd1 in Bali (Ubud or Nusa Dua)? Last time I was here I watched us thump freo in a final & there were 50 west coast supporters giving it to a couple of hapless freo supporters. Felt kind of sad for them.

I want us to win every game, I want to win the flag. Hell, I want to be wrong about Ken.
I'm not excited for this year though because none of that will happen, our list is slightly better than mediocre and our coach is a proven failure.
This season is literally us just going through the motions, hoping the kids show some great signs, before Hinkley is inevitably sacked.
So I'll be here all this season posting about this years inevitable failure with an eye to the future, and I'll be here next season and the season after, for the rest of my life hopefully with a lot more positivity under a new club direction. You'll have to forgive me though, if a season within which I believe we will continue to be stuck in the mid table rut, led by a gutless board, is not exciting.

Yeah look we knew that Veronka would be a tough opponent. We know we've got a long way to go to bring that intensity for the full wrestling match and we know we've got to just keep working at that. All these girls are so closely matched that it just takes a 5 minute period where you get your hair pulled to the side and end up slipping over on the jelly.

This might all be true but a ball hasn't even been bounced yet, we don't really know what is going to happen ye so i don't really see the point at being negative right now.
I bet Collingwood fans weren't thinking they'd be within a kick of a GF at the start of last season.
Surprises are thrown up every year. I agree that the signs don't look good for us but i think our list is not as bad as you think either, it is pretty much the same list that that finished 1st and 2nd in 2020 and 2021. We've got a good core of young guys that could improve dramatically this year too.
I like to look at round 1 as a clean slate because as much as we can predict how we think things will play out, quite often we all get it horribly wrong.
Warm sunny autumn afternoon in March up against the old arch nemesis that we haven't beaten since 2018 and is a premiership favorite, i'm pretty excited to see if we can cause an upset and get our season off to a good start. You never know.
Bergman but its a coin flip.
Either could have a breakout season. Duurs might have a slightly higher ceiling for 2023, Bergman might have a bit more reliability in performance in 2023.
