This thread is for all non-Port related AFL talk for our board.

So.....that Richmond line up looks pretty good. On paper, they should go well into the finals this year.

Nice thread idea :thumbsu:

I've personally tipped Richmond for a top 4 finish, although perhaps I'm being a little too liberal. There just seems to be a general vibe of positivity around the club and they genuinely have some great players in their team. Last year they seemed to be lacking in defence and, fortunately for them, they brought in an experienced defender through FA.

I've also tipped Hawthorn for bottom 10 finish.

They will be 3-4 goals worse off each game with you know who playing for them now. ;)

I'd like to say `Who cares about the rest of the AFL' and leave this thread forever.

OK here goes.

Who cares about the rest of the AFL

If they weren't there who would we have to play against?

Tasmania for a team!

With two vic teams merging

that will be the death of the two Vic teams..... North/Bulldogs...... or if these teams GC/WS.......dont progress in attendances.....there is all the chance of them going before two vic teams.....

Wouldn't the AFL make more money if the had one Tasmanian Club instead of supporting two clubs......Devils!

North seem to be doing okay in Vic tbh, not sure why everyone lumps them together with Footscray. Demons would be best off heading down south. Demons are pretty much devils anyway.

Can't see Melbourne collapsing, not with the history they have (oldest club) but they seriously need some success and marketing people working for them!

The big Four are safe as houses, Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond and Carlton. Geelong also safe.

Western Bulldogs and North are most likely to go under, however North have plenty of backing in Vic, SA and NSW!

Hawthon are up and about but with fickle supporters may make way in 10-15 years time, already have the links back to Tasmania, but in all honesty Tasmania with a population of 700,000 people probably need to add half their population again to make AFL viable there.

Personally, Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast will be the first two clubs to go and possibly Hawthorn moving south. TV rights will dictate the future of our game though!

The biggest two problems Tassie faces are the small dispersed population and the fact that it is a mature AFL market where loyalties have long been set in stone. If they were to get a team, it would take a very long time for most of the population to embrace them as their number 1.

The best bet would be to base it in Hobart, but I would imagine they would like to have a secondary base in Launceston too and play 3 or 4 games out of there. I can't imagine Hawthorn would be too keen on a Tassie team, they derive plenty of revenue from there.

Carlton and Richmond are both average and will finish around the 7 - 10 range. Carlton might get in the 8, Richmond for 9th. I wonder what will happen to Hardwick if they don't make the finals again.

Don't get the love they get with "experts" putting them in the top 4 I think they'll struggle for the 8.

Carlton or Richmond? Could easily apply to both.

Yeah I can't see Carlton winning tonight but there will be the Chaplin factor.

I'm looking forward to watching the game just to see how Chaplin performs. I'll still have my bias but at least I won't have the stress that comes with watching him play.

Yeah I want to go watch the maggies tonight but I think staying at home and watching the Richmond supporters turn on Chappy might be to good to pass up.
