The standard of football across the entire league even from the top teams is diabolical. It does nkt help with the constant reviews and piss umpiring.
Watch for the players who're going to blast it with piss? Or the umpires who're going to blast it with piss? Either way, AFL is all one big piss blast.

First time I've watched the Bounce in forever & Andrew Gaze just took the P155 out of Ken lol.. someone needs to clip that s**t even a basketballer thinks he's a donkey.
If you're not watching it in the wank shed and got the time, care to elaborate?

He did a voice over on his presser mocking the Rozee situation, Jonas playing on for a year or three too long, Warren on the board now & Kochie should give me another 5 years for my regular season glory etc. pretty funny.

The talent pool is stretched to buggery

Lets have a national comp and have ten teams in the same state lol
Just wait until we have 20 teams - talent pool stretched even further, plus with 10 games we'll need even more umpires....

Surely the only fans of a 20 team competition would be the holders of the television rights.

The majority of matches today are hardly engaging, including the horse s**t we manage to roll out every week. But what’s more troubling, is there seems to be too many games that feel like meaningless dead rubbers.

Cricket was dying a slow death in the 70s before Kerry Packer came along & revolutionised the game for the better. Maybe we’re reaching that point.

Re the current standard of footy, like no doubt many I used to watch as many AFL games as possible but now I struggle to watch 4 qtrs of any game (including ours), and I'm regularly flicking channels to try and find something watchable from as early as the 10 minute mark of the first qtr of most games.

It may just be a cyclical thing but something else I have noticed in recent years is how far the standard of draftees appears to have fallen, we have had very late draft picks eg Houston who could at least hold their own from day one at sanfl level, to much higher draft picks that have absolutely struggled to have any impact at all at that level.

A case in point re how far the standard may have fallen is the reigning premier rolled out a 26 yo old for his first senior game the other night, and I'm not sure that would have happened many times before in the 30 odd years of the AFL comp.

I've caught bits of the show the last few weeks, and he’s had a few sly digs at Port, saying that our performance and position on the ladder means nothing, let’s see what happens in finals, just joking of course 😉.

For me it feels fixed and the ridiculous commentary adds to that feeling. I'm just at the 'go to games, don't worry about the rest' stage of theatre watching.

I used to try to watch every game.

Just saw that North are 12-79 since 2020. **** me, I know it’s a pain supporting this club but that is well and truly a painful existence for anyone who is seriously invested in supporting that club.

lol I went to Melbourne in October 2022 when the JHF to Port talk was huge. i genuinely thought about visiting Arden St. not to do with JHF at all but honestly just to see the club before it folds, to see just how big or small it really is for myself, basically like going to go check out old Fitzroy or something, that's how it felt. of course, I did not take the time out to go and actually do that, because **** them

Tom Liberatore is out indefinitely with concussion. Strangely luke Beveridge said a couple of weeks ago that it was a stumble and not concussion. Football clubs are super honest.

I think the commentary is also a big problem watching footy today.
I can’t stand Brayshaw and that Dill Taylor is full of crap.

Throw in some woman who wouldn’t know if her arse was on fire and it’s about as entertaining as getting punched in the balls.

On top of this you have the Victorian bias during the call and umpiring not up to Mini League standards.
Throw in the after match BS and you have one big bag of shyt.

Yes you can always mute the sound or watch and listen on the radio.
Seriously how fkd is it when you got to have a TV on and Radio playing just to watch a simple footy game for some entertainment.
Makes you realize just how fking good Dennis Cometti was.

Labor backflips on Hobart AFL stadium, backs project

Tasmanian Labor has backflipped on the proposed Hobart AFL stadium and now supports the project – if it can be delivered within the Liberal government’s funding cap.

New Labor leader Dean Winter said on Monday the state opposition, which under his predecessor, Rebecca White, opposed the stadium, had changed its mind due to altered economic conditions.

“Tasmania’s economy has slowed – 5000 jobs have been lost since Jeremy Rockliff lost majority government,” Mr Winter said. “Building companies are going bust.

“There are no major infrastructure projects scheduled to come online once the Bridgewater Bridge is finished.

“A stadium will mean thousands of jobs in construction, including hundreds of apprenticeships. That’s why Labor will be backing a new stadium.”

Labor’s backflip gives the Rockliff minority Liberal government the numbers to secure approval for the stadium in the House of Assembly, should it comply with the funding cap.

However, Mr Winter said Liberal Premier Jeremy Rockliff needed to deliver his promise to build the 23,000-seat roofed stadium with state taxpayers’ contribution capped at $375m.
