I concurI think the commentary is also a big problem watching footy today.
I can’t stand Brayshaw and that Dill Taylor is full of crap.
Throw in some woman who wouldn’t know if her arse was on fire and it’s about as entertaining as getting punched in the balls.
On top of this you have the Victorian bias during the call and umpiring not up to Mini League standards.
Throw in the after match BS and you have one big bag of shyt.
Yes you can always mute the sound or watch and listen on the radio.
Seriously how fkd is it when you got to have a TV on and Radio playing just to watch a simple footy game for some entertainment.
Makes you realize just how fking good Dennis Cometti was.
Just read that on twitter…. Still laughing.Crows making a bid for Dangerfield to return?
He couldn't wait to get out of the crows and Adelaide in general. He's set up with his family back home, he's got a role with the players' association outside of his playing for Geelong, will probably retire at the end of the year anyway and carry on with a lucrative career in the Melbourne media, so why wouldn't he come back to the crows?Crows making a bid for Dangerfield to return?
I watch with the sound muted.I think the commentary is also a big problem watching footy today.
.....
Amazing how many people do this now, Channel 7 should start taking notice.I watch with the sound muted.
With CH7 having multiple channels there should be an option to have ground sounds only with no commentary.
I concur
I used to watch 3-4 games a weekend, now I can barely watch port for 4 qtrs.
The umpiring is atrocious
The commentary is appalling
The talent pool is simply not large enough to sustain 16 let alone 18-20 teams so every team has 2-3 absolute spuds
On top of that is the overriding sense that it is a biased, contrived, rigged competition akin to the wwf.
The rot started to set in with that fat corrupt slob demetriou.
Good example of the bias/ corrupt cheating umpires was this season when we played Melbourne. Free kick count was 14 to 3 at about half time in Melbournes favour & we were generally on top. The following week at the same venue & the crows were being soundly beaten by Melbourne & the free kick count was 13 to 4 in the crows favour.
There are clearly two sets of rules for different clubs & teams the afl want to see in the finals & others (like us) they don’t want to see there
I think you'll find he was pretty helpful in getting to AO and keeping us alive tbh when asked about that dire period in our history he was quoted as saying "I couldn't imagine the AFL without Port Adelaide".The rot started to set in with that fat corrupt slob demetriou.
Great post, yeah let’s do the intro to country to show our solidarity with our indigenous brothers, then display our institutionalised racism by lynching a strong proud black fella like SPP & not commenting on news.com running a headline calling him a POS. Business as usual & it’s apparently fine for them to vilify certain black guysOne of the biggest mistakes the AFL is making is using the games platform to drive political agendas. The whole thing feels staged and artificial, & doesn’t help anyone but the DEI crusaders. People go to sport to have a beer with their mates & have a break from all that crap.
Another major problem of modern day football is the genuine lack of engaging personalities & characters involved in the game. Players like Dermie, Fev, Dippa, Aker, Swan, Blight, Capper, Lockett, Jackson etc…were worth the entry price themselves.
Today they all come across as highly trained Bots, devoid of any real personality & mischief. When a player does come along who exhibits a bit of swagger (think Toby Greene, Ginnivan), they’re cut down & shred to bits.
The over bearing, sanitising approach to the game is having a lasting & detrimental effect. If the AFL continue to show disregard & disdain for the average the supporter, people will just end up switching off for good.
Good post tooI think you'll find he was pretty helpful in getting to AO and keeping us alive tbh when asked about that dire period in our history he was quoted as saying "I couldn't imagine the AFL without Port Adelaide".
He also told the the SANFL & the Crows the planned upgrade to AAMI Stadium was nothing but putting lipstick on a pig. It’s possible that Demetriou didn’t act out of any great love for us, rather we were a vehicle for him to vanquish his sanfl rival & it would have looked bad for him as CEO of a club folded on his watch but still
I have contacts at 7Amazing how many people do this now, Channel 7 should start taking notice.
YesHe also told the the SANFL & the Crows the planned upgrade to AAMI Stadium was nothing but putting lipstick on a pig.
Not going to enter the hospital debate stuff, because that was a **** up, but thank christ we didn't end up with a Docklands type stadium with 200mm of grass and soil, then a bit of sand on a cold concrete base.Yes
Adelaide oval, mmm
I worked on an alternate proposal put forward by the casino which the libs sold terribly at the election
Bottom line was that we could have had a brand new undercover stadium on north terrace funded privately by the casino consortium, with zero public funds
All the casino wanted was to expand their casino footprint, rights to a new convention centre, stadium naming rights, non football event $$ & rights to underground car park below stadium, this was the proposal Demetriou/ libs championed
Literally would have cost taxpayers zero
Also included upgrading RAH on its current site for a fraction of the cost
But alas, labor & state voters thought it better to run up 4 billion in debt to put lipstick on the pig & build a ridiculously expensive & undersized new hospital
Plan was for 1200mm substrateNot going to enter the hospital debate stuff, because that was a * up, but that christ we didn't end up with a Docklands type stadium with 200mm of grass and soil, then a bit of sand on a cold concrete base.
