Yeh, get sick of reading that anyone that's ever played Afl is a star. What's wrong with using 'Afl player' instead of 'Afl star'. Almost all of them weren't stars. Just BS.
Then there's a Facebook numpty that always bites back with

"Well how many games did you play?!? "

It means that terms like 'superstar' and 'legend' also get overused just as much. I know the tabloid media love their adjectives, but they're in danger of running out of them.

AFL mega-level legend insert random player name recently bought a cup of coffee at Henley beach.

Hawthorn shown for roughly 35 seconds of a 1.30 video lmfao

It was partly a compilation of wanky celebrations (hence a LOT of the Wanky Hawks). All for the socials.

I didn’t realise it at the time, but I now long for the time when Tredrea pretending to use a phone was seen as ridiculously over the top.

AFL stars Steven May, Tom Lynch and Dion Prestia and have been caught up in a late-night fracas at Sorrento which led to two men needing hospital treatment.
The premiership players were among a group out for Boxing Day at the Mornington Peninsula holiday hotspot which was harassed and attacked at about 2am near the Continental Hotel.
The Herald Sun has been told one aggressor took a swing outside the venue, causing the group to retreat along Point Nepean Rd.
Shortly after, Ambulance Victoria paramedics were called to Point Nepean Rd to pick up a man believed to be one of the troublemakers.
He had upper and lower-body injuries which were described as not life-threatening. Victoria Police said two men were treated at hospital but it is not known how the second patient got there.
Football sources confirmed on Monday that the AFL trio had been among a group which had been caught up in friction generated by other parties. But sources close to the three players insisted they were not responsible for the injuries to the two men.

What a bullshit story. Just by proximity they get dragged into and name dropped in an otherwise wholly common and boring event.

A fracas in Sorrento? Gillon McLachlan will be speaking to Victorian government ministers about that.

The AFL community is mourning the death of former Geelong captain Michael ‘Mick’ Turner, who sadly lost his two-year battle with cancer on Monday.
He and his Dad both made Geelong's team of the century.
Bob Quinn's brother, Tom, also made that team.

Richmond premiership star Noah Balta has been arrested and charged with assault following an alleged late-night incident in New South Wales.
The incident is said to have taken place at a sports club in Mulwala, near the New South Wales and Victoria border, at around 12:30am on Monday December 30.
Richmond issued a statement on Wednesday, confirming Balta had been arrested but wouldn’t be making any further comment as the investigation gets underway.

They'll work it out.
