We have the players to fill midfield and forward even with Bruce out

We have no ruck and other than Keath, Williams and Duryea our backs a sh!t and can’t hold anyone

And yet with the ball coming in with speed and system to 4 talls they kicked 9 goals. If you can't beat a team that is kept to 9 goals, then your problem isn;t your defense.

Come on. Are we really going to do this?

The performances put in by a supposed top four team in the past few weeks have been ludicrously bad. Not just poor, but really shitty.

It’s baffling. I don’t really know how to take it. It’s so ******* embarrassing.
Dud you read the post I responded to? Context is your friend. I never suggested this as an excuse for losing.

Not singling out blokes, but 2 of their last 3 goals came about because our defenders don't play tight enough.

Cordy is the main culprit. Plays either in front of his man, or 3m behind.

Just crazy .
I’ve previously defended Cordy but I’m losing patience big time. He stands metres off an opponent but is too slow and doesn’t have a big enough leap to do so. Needs to play way closer to his man.

I think we all knew from selection that the team wasn't balanced.

How you can imagine that hannan in the ruck would be a good idea is beyond me, it's dunkley last year all over again.

English was monstered in the final last year by rider and Marshall. Young isn't a ruck, throw him back and have sweet come in or we waste 9 months work.

Even worse if we bomb out without firing a shot it could create some cracks in the group.

Say using social media and BigFooty as a rough example, what % of Bulldogs fans are continually lamenting Bevo’s hate of ruckman? 90%? More?

i.e. everyone sees the problem apart from Bevo, but then he gives the biggest cop out in that presser.

It’s been 5 years since Will Minson retired, who Bevo didn’t play anyway.

They’ve had plenty of time to address this, but they’re playing the poor bugger me line again.

Fair enough if we were a complete bottom 4 rabble, recruits don’t come, but how aren’t semi-decent rucks from across the league not licking their lips & wanting to be here?

Something isn’t adding up.

Funnily enough Bevo sees the problem also.. yet continues to try and put together part-time shi* solutions for it.

The "crap" defense held 4 tall forwards to goals. Doing that will win you most games IF the midfiedl and forwards do their jobs. We have never had a system or structure to connect the mids and the forwards under Beveridge. Its always been haphazard and hope someone pulls some magic out of their backsides. That's on him.
Respectfully disagree. We have no defensive strength outside keath. Its the mids who have been pushing back to zone which has made our defence. Its not sustainable to any degree over a season.

Question - is Sam Darcy meant to be a ruckman?
I think Bevo referenced him as one recently but he’s been playing key forward recently having played key back previously. It sounds like his growth in height has taken a few by surprise so he’s maybe being viewed as having ruck potential. He’s skinny thigh.

No and that’s partly the reason for my comment. It’s unbelievable how different and inefficient the forward line group looks now, one week out

Bruce out, Schache in. Jamarra stays in. Job done.

So unless a WAFL team beat Brisbane we’re playing an elimination final. That’s nothing short of negligent given the position in recent weeks.

I am so ****ing angry. This will dissipate as it always does but it’s ridiculous that this side lost the last three games. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Cordy just needs to nail the basics: always play back shoulder when setting up from a stoppage and stay within reach. He’s too slow to zone off/protect space from those situations and not big enough to play in front, but is a competitor. Play to ya strengths.

He’s become worse in that regard this season. As much a coaching issue than Zaine’s fault.

Who is accepting this? You plan firstly to make finals and then strive for the upper echeholons of the 8.
I will never understand this argument. You honestly think anyone at the club is just happy to make up numbers?
This is a cut throat comp with many twists and turns.

Well clealry if you are happy with Beveridges ladder finishes over the past 7 years you have to be happy making up the numbers, because that's what it has been bar a miracle once in 130 year event.

Finals? Top 8? 8? Making top 8 is not a measure of success. Its just a revenue raiser for the AFL and their commerical partners.

The "cut throat" competition is designed to give everyone a turn at success. Salary caps. Closed recruitment "market".

A moment of sarcasm if I may ( two moments actually)
1 Do you think we would have won if Vandermeer and Hannam played?
2. Do you think Port would have won by more if Charlie Dixon played?

By the way, anyone criticising our defence after tonight must have been watching a different game.

Yeah there’s kind of a KPD hole, but it’s far from our biggest problem at present.
Its a flow on effect I think. Everything gets impacted from defensive pressure and movement. But I take your point. As I stated previously, the forwardline still has little cohesion.. Hence our haphazard forward entries.

Aggregate simulations had us at 98% for making the top 4 two weeks ago. Fitting that we are the team that misses with those odds.

Cordy was on one of the dogs podcasts recently and they touched on why he wasn’t in the team beginning of the season. He didn’t go into details but seemed to suggest he had a difference of opinion on how to play the role and he wasn’t doing what Bevo wanted. I assume the way he’s playing currently is how Bevo wants him to.

Cordy is a defensive half back ( as opposed to Dale who is an attacking half back) playing as KPD.

I’m drunk watching 2016 Grand Final. Making me feel better. Boyd just snapped his goal. 18 to 8 Dogs. Irish heritage firey and emotional. In tears imagining Libba Snr , Hawk, Billy the Kid, Super to name a few. How would they have felt like us fans watching the Dogs win the flag. It ain’t over till it’s over.

OK. So you ignore 2016? The comp is even af at the top end. Name me one stand out premier in waiting? Fact is any of the finals sides could win on their day. A simple metric is....you have to be there. I respect your opinion but id rather be in there, with a chance of performing at our optimum on a finals day rather than looking as onlookers.
