Good news for us

Hopefully it'll force Judd to nominate a few clubs, which will most likely mean us, and we're the club who the Weagles wanna trade with :thumbsu:

Just hope Nixon and Judd accept to go to another club instead of taking legal action to get to the pies

Nixon isn't Judd manager, but is the manager of Players that could get caught up in the trade. It caught end up being a very messy. :)

God I hate Nixon!!

The thing that bothers me about that article is that it mentions they hope it gets down to 4 teams - which it already is....

But let's hope he just hurries up and nominates. He's going to Flatulence Hill tomorrow and there's only Collingwood left, so by next week he should have an idea. Let's hope

Thats not what they meant in the article.

Nixon isn't Judds manager, and was referring to other players who might be waiting on the Judd deal to go through (i.e. Scotland?) to have their own trades confirmed or sorted out.

If the Judd thing is held up (ala Everitt) until 1 mintue to go on the Friday then it stuffs all the other deals that might hinge on it.

It's not referrring to them taking legal action to get to the Pies.

K didn't realise guys. Whose Judd's manager then? Didn't Nixon accompany Judd to Raheen?

Paul Connors is Judd's manager. Ricky Nixon's just poking his nose in just in case any of his players get stuffed up during trade week.

Am I right, was he Hamill's manager? I know I hate him but I can't quite remember why LOL

Aaron Hamills manager is Dave Allison. Absolute scum of the earth.
If Judd does decide to go to Collingwood, i'm gonna be very very interested in what the Magpies are gonna have to cough up for him. I reckon they will have to rip the heart and soul out of their club. Should be pretty entertaining.

Thank you! Ah yes Dave Allison, scum agreed. Oh well I hate Nixon for some reason, I'm sure it's a good one ;)

It's actually bad news for us because the Eagles were just using Collingwood as an example. What the eagles are actually saying is that whoever Judd picks as his favoured destination will have to offer the moon to get him or they'll be no deal.

They also tried to intimidate Judd into leaving his chosen destination fairly open, and then reinforced that ridiculous suggestion that they'll just keep Judd and play him out of Melbourne, probably in another attempt to strengthen their bargaining position even though everyone knows that its utter garbage.

Grrrrrr

I am absolutely filthy at Judd...

I know, I know - we got Chick and Stenglein back, but Judd was the Eagles Franchise player...shattering.

Anyway, I hope the Eagles dig in long and bloody hard in the trade... I still cant believe we havent even finished THIS season and hes already shopping around like a $2 hooker...terrible stuff.

...and no, he can STAY in Melbourne and PLAY in Melbourne now thanks.

If Judd says he is prepared to enter the PSD, Nixon is definitely all huff and puff. Probably is anyway. Third parties to West Coast and Judd's choice are acting opportunistically. Don't think the courts would hold them in high regard.

David Allison. How could you forget?

If they keep pushing that line, they'll live to regret it. So, please keep up the good work Eagles!

Those comments from the Weagleland CEO were very interesting. They are starting to come to terms with the reality of the situation. They know that the trade value of Judd will be way below market value because he has limited the number of Clubs he'll go to dramatically. The very best the Weagles can hope for is 4 Club offers, and in all likelihood there'll be only 2. This leaves little room for the Weagles to negotiate. Even now there are putting pressure on Judd to allow all 4 into the trade discussion. And to make matters even more complex the Weagles have stated they don't want to trade with the Pies, and Nixon is threatening legal action against Judd's management. This could become very messy and very nasty. From Carlton's point of view, it's best that we stand firm with our offer, and don't get involved in any messy trade between tird party Clubs hoping to exploit the situation. We can happily walk away from the deal with picks #1 and #3 and #20 intact and focus on 2008. The more this situation escalates, the more this seems the better option. :)

There is no way Judd will be playing for Collingwood
ITS A GIVEN !

1/Collingwood don't have the draft picks
2/West Coast hate Collingwood and wouldn't like to see Judd playing for them, they have a history of rocky times in drafts before.
3/ Just like the Nick Stevens thing ,Collingwood want Judd but will offer no decent players, in simple terms they will offer crap and WCE won't stand for that

Exactly, Collingwood want and expect the world but dont want to give anything for it, at least we will make a decent offer to west coast, lets just hope that Judd picks us.

I think the Eagles are just hoping they can play 2 clubs off against eachother, 4 is unrealistic.
You need at least 2 buyers to have a competitive auction, but 2 is enough to get close to market value, and WC want the early picks Carlton can offer.
WC are rightly very worried that Judd will just nominate 1 club (most likely Cwood) and that club will give a lousy trade offer.
I think this trade could get very ugly be settled with 2 mins to go in trade week.

Interesting to consider the situation from Judds perspective. The guy obviously hates the limelight, and I'd imagine a protracted trade slug-fest between the Pies, Weagles and greedy third party Clubs extending into trade week as the last thing he'd want. He might exclude the Pies on that basis alone. I really like Carlton's approach to this. We have been extremely professional and clear-cut from the outset, and are just basically watching how things play out. As time passes our offer is becoming more and more attractive to all parties concerned. No Club other than Carlton, has had the courage to put their cards on the table and make an offer. We did that on day 1 of the process, and also made it clear what we would never offer as well. The other Clubs involved have looked like amateurs. The Dees "invite everyone along to see Judd at the Board Room" approach smacked of insecurity and was pretty pathetic. Lloyd's loose canon trade suggestions, coachlessness, and infighting doesn't exactly put the Bombers in a good light as well. The Blues have professionals running the Club who know how to strike good deals in a relaxed confident manner. :)

I hope we are prepared to walk away if they knock us back. If another team wants to trade away their future let them have him.

The only trading competition is Melbourne I reckon. I bet they wish they had our tanking (I mean player management) skills now though. The other teams will have to give up gun players to beat our offer which they won't do.

We should give them a time limit to accept 3 & 20 and be prepared to withdraw the offer if they don't accept. It would be a shame if he ended up in the preseason draft while our our trading reputation remained somewhat intact.

Richmond are not as threat in the PSD or they they would have said they were interested in him from day one. I guess they could get their players together and ask if they all wanted to take a pay cut to have a champion in their team.

If someone else wants to pay over the odds good luck to them and we use the picks for ourselves.

The point you make is a very important one. We MUST be prepared to walk away from a deal if it is not to our advantage even if Judd wants to go to Carlton. This is essential. Swann has clearly indicated the Blues will walk if a good offer can't be made. Hoping he'll continue that strong stance. I just can't see Pratt allowing a deal that would sell our future down the sink. That's won't happen. :)

They way i see it though, is that after the Pies, we're probably next in line to get Judd. So if the Eagles refuse to trade with C'wood, they'll come to us (if Judd mentioned us as a preference), and the Eagles will want to trade with us. Then, if they ask too much, we can just walk away. Either way, i think its a good thing that the eagles might refuse to trade with our biggest rivals, and would then look to trading with us
