Why would we want hurley? Upgrade on hartigan but hes not the first player id be looking at upgrading, doing a good job this year. Although Talia, laird, Hurley, lever, smith, Brown, Doedee does look ominous.
Talent. He's an A grader, probably not a lot who would come to Adelaide, if he really is interested then you'd have to persue it.

Pretty much. I think most clubs have the obligation to go for anyone that would fit in their best 22, let alone Hurley. Especially Adelaide given we aren't exactly a destination club.

Giants (NEAFL)
This weekend: Giants v Sydney University - Saturday June 25, 12.55pm, Spotless Stadium

Important Giants Devon Smith and Adam Kennedy made solid returns from injury in their club's 17-point win over Sydney University in the NEAFL at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

Forward/midfielder Smith, in his first hit-out since returning from a knee injury that sidelined him for two months, had 17 disposals but managed just three behinds.

Defender Kennedy made a better return from a shoulder injury to collect 24 possessions.

Talented on-baller Jack Steele pressed his claims for a senior recall with a best-afield performance.

Steele, who has played eight AFL games this season, gathered 37 possessions (including 24 kicks), 13 marks and eight tackles.

He was well supported by Sam Reid, who responded well to his axing with 29 touches, eight tackles and two goals, and Jake Barrett (22 disposals and 15 tackles).

Meanwhile, James Stewart bagged four goals and Adam Tomlinson contributed three majors from his 21 possessions.

I'm not sure the size of their injury list, but shouldn't they be beating NEAFL teams by shit tins every week?

Personally I think Hartigan's come along enough this year that, unless Jenkins left, I wouldn't chase Hurley.

We'd be better off spending that money on a gun midfielder than a slight upgrade on a key position player.

Rhys Palmer got 50 touches last week, let's get him too :)
50 touches and 4.2.

Problem may be that it'll cost more than $ to get a gun mid in. If Hurley becomes a DFA then we get him for nothing but his salary and we can add more to the midfield though the draft or trade.

There is that. That does make it less of a cost. However, unless we lose Jenkins though it's still only a marginal improvement over Hartigan, for a significant increase in $$.

These trade threads are very depressing.

We have no trouble finding players. We lost a handful of AA standard players, and the best player in the comp. Somehow we sit 9-4.

We've turned other teams trash like lynch and Jenkins into our treasure. We pull players like laird and Cameron from the rookie list. Find hidden draft gems like Atkins and McGovern.

It's about bloody time we ice this mother with a couple of ready made stars. The highest scoring team, arguably the most exciting team, creeping into premiership contention.

They should be queuing to play here.

2015 AA CHB, gun.
If it'll cost 500k per year, yes can't say no to Hurley. Anything more then nope.
I'd imagine he'd be demanding 600k plus.

Another season like this one and they will be. Success is attractive.

Jenkins wasn't trash, he was just on Essendon's rookie list, was good enough to get a main list spot, but they were already committed to Hale, Ryder, and Bellchambers in the ruck, and had Hurley, Gumbleton, and Carlisle as contracted quality prospectove forward options. Bit like when Mumford left Geelong, although he was already far the superior player to the ruckmen Geelong stuck with, rather than the likely sort Jenkins was.

If we're really balking at free agents on the basis that they're always too darned expensive whilst the premiership contending teams top up with talent every year we really need to review how we're making our cap.
