This year it's pretty hard to decide who will get delisted. I think a couple of players are: Luke McEntee, i think Tim Clarke could be there, I hate to say it because he's my favourite player but Beau Dowler, and rookies...I'm not sure who else.... Thoughts?

And Danny Jacobs has already retired...I think that Matthew Suckling, or Cameron Stokes could be promoted to the senior list.

McEntee, Moss (despite me seeing enormous potential in them if they can get their body right) and Tim Clarke (one again, a great player, will probably get a trade)

DJ is retired

Stokes will be elivated

Muston will be given one last chance to get his body right, Bailey 2 (as he is a ruckman with an enormous leap)

I can't see Tim Clarke being delisted, if Clarko wanted to delist him he would have 3 years ago with Cox and co.

I think Tim Boyle would be traded. Beau Dowler is staying!

Im not sure with the other rookies!

Lets draft a player with a broken pelvis at Pick 6 give him a few seasons to recover and gain fitness and form, watch him start to string some good games together at VFL level and then delist him at the ripe old age of 21.

Clarke seems to have been passed by several other players in the pecking order might struggle to retain his spot imo! Moss with injury's killing his chances will be delisted Dawson will be interesting to see what happens will be given a year with some good late form or will be gone!
Good luck to all the players what ever happens!:thumbsu:

moss is a definite

boyle to be traded

tim clarke - is he good enough for a trade i.e will anyone want him

mcintee - yes

muston is contracted

bailey - we need him, and he deserves another chance

i know he is in his first year, and i am not saying delist him, but any thoughts on josh kennedy, i have not been impressed with him, i hope he builds up

go hawkers

Dowler? Please, yellow card this person. You should change your name to Deano is obviously not a Hawka!!

With only Jacobs retiring, it is likely that an additional 2 - 3 people will be traded or offloaded - 3 if we decide to elevate Stokes.

Boyle is a definite and the club will work hard to get the best deal, either in a pick, upgrade or player. For a player, I would ideally like a better ruckman or better defender, but I suppose we will take what we can get depending on who buys. For example, someone like the Dogs might look to offload one of their outside runners to us, if they are keen.

That is likely to leave two more exits. The club then has two choices IMO.

a) Pick the 3 - 4 that we would be happy departing with and see if any result in a reasonable trade or pick. I would have though Clarke, McEntee, Moss and Murphy are on that short-list. Although, I question with the development required in McEntee and Mossy's injuries, whether they have any trade currency. With Biglands retiring and McEntee being an SA boy, maybe the Crows would upgrade a 3rd rounder for him.

or

b) Produce a longer list as part of a strategy to get the player we want. For example, would we be happy parting with Morton as part of a deal for Warnock? After a stella year, would people consider swapping Ossie and our third pick to Brisbane for Roe and thier third pick?

That's the way I see it.

Dawson-Gone
McEntee-Gone
Dowler-Safe
Clarke-Trade or Retire
Boyle-Trade
Moss-Trade or Gone
Muston-Safe
Bailey-Safe

Don't we generally need a turn over of about 8-9 players yearly, when looking at rookie selections, draftees etc?

when rebuilding....

I think we are past that:confused:

Lol guys caaaaalm down, he's my favourite player. Forgot about dawson, boyle and moss i was thinking will go. Earlier in the year, none of you would've thought that im crazy to say Dowler.

Really not needed now seeing we're 2 weeks out from finals...really got to get together and support everyone at the club.

Jacobs has retired and is the only obvious list change at the moment. Stokes will most likely be elevated. One of Boyle or Dawson will be gone and one or two others.

They have just picked him this week on the extended bench? Why would they delist him? Trade him more like it

Wow, here we are, guaranteed to finish top 4 before the season is out. Can anyone tell me the last time we finished in the top 4?

And what are we discussing?...........delisting and trades.

Wow, old habits from the bad days must be hard to break!

there is not alot wrong with discussing which players we will need to delist at this stage, i doubt a player who has played a senior game this year will get delisted. We have to draft at least 3 players from the draft (not sure how the rookies work) with DJ already retired leaves us 2, but stokesy will be elevated so we still need to offload a minimum of 3. I can't recall a side off loading as little in 3 in the recent future, so we may well be looking at 4 -5 players.

Moss and Suckling you would think will be delisted and Boyle traded. They should keep clarke, there have been games this year when his absence was noticable.

I think Dawson might get delisted, been at our club for a couple of years now and hasnt shown us much. Might have shown some good progress at BH but he can never get a game here.

Moss- delist.

moss -gone traded to the west
boyle - will be put up for trade
mcentee- will be put up for trade
young - a chance to be traded
dawson- GONE
dowler - will be considered for the right offer (think back to croad who would of thought we would of traded him)
kennedy 50/50 if he stays
murphy - could be put up for trade if we secure a big defender early in the trades

i like this thread its not being negative its looking forwards for the greater good

I like the fact that we have an abundance of key position players, so I would love to see Dawson stay.

McEntee to go.

I think that it will be very tough for Gary Moss to be retained.

For not just our sake but for his also, I think Tim Boyle should be traded even if we don't get much in return.

Big fan but Tim Clarke should be moved on.

Danny Jacobs already retired.

:)

Okay, guys and gals. deano, goes back a fair way as a Hawks BF member and is well regarded for those of us who have been around this place a while.

C-L-A, deano is certainly a devout Hawk.

He has put up his views on certain players in good faith. He is not an idiot, as some have suggested, by any means and has been, going back a couple of years, a solid contributor in this place.

In my opinion his thread start contains comment that are his viewpoints and he is entitled to have them and he, in a decent manner, asked your thoughts.

It is not fair to call him an idiot.

Traded players don't count as delistings as new players come in in their place. By memory, each club must make at least one delisting (?) as participation in the end of season draft is compulsary. That said, here's my thoughts on a few players mentioned in this thread;

Kennedy: You've gotta be kidding. Was a father son in a superdraft year and expected to go to 15 if not father sonned. Locked keeper.
Clarke: Will be kept. Negating forwards, run with mids are hardly our strength.
Dowler: Big guys take longer and he's coming good. Another superdraft draftee who won't go.
Zac: I have the feeling with Clarko throwing Zac to the wolves in 06, Zac was assured he'd be given all the time in the world to get his body weight up. Back deficiancies say Zac isn't going anywhere.

So my most likelies; Suckling, Moss and Jacobs meaning Stokes gets elevated and we take two selections in the draft.

McEntee, I have no idea about but ruck depth is still low.
