There seems to be a lot of commentary about how the rules need to be changed further to equalize the competition.

Free agency and taxing the more wealthy(=better run) clubs clearly hasn't worked they say.

I think there's a rule (from the good old US of A) that Gil could introduce for Grand Finals that
would definitely quash a lot of these 'opposition bitterness' posts.

The laughable thing about that muck Ellis tweet is that in every single decade of footy there are clubs that win multiple flags. About 50% of winners of a flag played in the grand final the year before (roughly 50-50 back to back v losing grand finalist).

We just went back to back to back. Lions did it a mere 14 years before us. Geelong won two flags in the same decade. North, west coast and Adelaide all won multiple flags in the 90s. Essendon and hawthorn won most of the 80s. Regardless of the draft and equalisation measures, if you are good enough to win one flag you are regularly good enough to win another flag.

We were discussing the prelim, and she said something along the lines of "The only reason the Hawks won that game was because of the umpiring and the absolute dog acts by Mitchell and co. during the previous games that injured Fyfe."

I said "I agree. The whole thing made Sheridan so upset he couldn't even hold on to a footy."

We don't speak much.

There's a Freo supporter on the Main Board who started a thread after the Prelim, saying that the overturned free kick in the first quarter was significant in that it broke Freo, and led to a run on for us that changed the whole game.

So the umpires changed the game 5 minutes into the first quarter.
