Geelongs two premiership captains - Harley and Ling - have conceded the Hawks are better. Not going to concern ourselves with some internet guys.

This thread is enjoyable!

I love Lingy! It's funny how a former Gellong player who played against us can love our club so much. I think he secretly wears a Hawthorn jumper with a picture of Roughy on his nightstand. Seems to irritate Geelong fans no end.

The new version of Peter McKenna for Channel 7!

Who remembers McKenna saying "you never write off Hawthorn.... You never write them off". I don't think he ever tipped against us. Really nice guy too, like Lingy.

Can't stand Harley - hates Hawthorns guts.

It was Lakey's curry that sold him

same as last year, the D/H cant even crack a smile. He's just pandered again to the corporate fat-cats and only released around 20k tix to the grand finalists members. Sour-looking bastard.
I do remember someone here posted a similar pic of Mike fitzpatrick

Yes, but I believe you've been more than a little disingenuous there.

It does beg the question though: why, if Port Adelaide has been such a trend setter or such an important training area, (or if they are so bitter about the "pinching") have there only been two assistant coaches from that 2004 coaching panel (and remembering that Walsh went from Port to West Coast to Port & then the crows) who have gone on to be senior AFL coaches?
I think you misunderstand. It was tongue in cheek. No trend setting, just here to look at your board and see how (deservedly so) you guys can look back at last years achievement.

He loves Hodge too.

Winning flags helps reduce saltiness.

Ok, hardest thing to understand is your love of a franchise from NY and one from Dallas...usually mutually exclusive followings? Perhaps you were mixed up before you got to our great shores? :p:thumbsu:

You can't be an East coast, West Coast or Mid West guy.....you pay homage to an African American at the WH podium.....you're from a southern state perhaps - Tennessee?
I'm living in KC and boy do they know how to do BBQ!!!
I'm very confused actually. Was living in Vermont when I went for the Boys because my big sister made me watch them one day and got hooked. I should have been a patriot fan. Moved to New York and used to go to Yankee stadium with my best friend and his dad.

Now I support another Port-side team. When I got here Port weren't in the AFL and Brian Cunningham explained the history of Port and convinced me to support them. He chatted for almost an hour. Good guy.

Lingy might have a soft spot for Hawthorn as he was on our supplementary list as a promoted TAC Cup player during 1999, the year in which he was later drafted. Here is footage of Lingy playing with the Hawthorn Reserves in 1999

Because I'm trying to be magnanimous :p

The only flag that matters to me is the current one. Once a flag is won and savoured, ultimately it becomes largely irrelevant. That's why back to back and hat tricks hold weight, because they become like a singular jumbo premiership.

I mean, the 1925 Geelong premiership doesn't really mean anything to me other than a number, and 07 09 and 11 are history. This is why I don't care to compare.

Who's better? Not important. As it stands right now, Hawthorn is well and truly top of the pile and that's what counts. Watching this team do what they've done the last 3 years hasn't made me salty or melty, it's just made me hungry to see my boys get up there and win it again.

exactly right!

i dont get all the arguments about who was/is better? any flag is an awesome achievement and unlike (too many) cats/hawks fans, i enjoyed the opposition's great performances too. the cats were an incredible side to watch and never begrudged them anything (except wins over us of course!). whether they are considered better/worse than the current hawks is irrelevant. doesn't make me enjoy our flags any more/less.

I think he's just a footballers footballer. Enjoys watching the best and we are the best he's ever seen. Fair play to him. I happen to agree.

The funny thing about Geelong is that I actually supported them in 2011 against the pies. I never hated them when they were the best and when they beat us - largely due to the likes of Ling. It is the detestable poor sportsmanship from Scott, Selwood, Bartel etc and their willingness to roll over and then throw up excuses that makes them truly pathetic. That was all after Lings era. Rock bottom was the mission accomplished game with Bartels disgraceful dive (and attempt to excuse it). They haven't come close to us since - very weak.

Got back from Melbourne two days ago, placed my threepeat sticker on my car - not even 10 minutes of driving, I was tailgated by some arse blasted eagles supporter.

******* Perth.

You need to put a threepeat sticker on his car

Royal Hotel in the background. I like it.

There's a desperate, deluded handbagger on the main board right now, go check it out! It's a train wreck that you can't take your eyes off!
Is that the one who's jumping about asking people to "debate" him?

Is in line with his competitive nature. Probably loved Sammy as a player and that's why he was the best at nullifying him. Respect is important
