Just floating this idea to see if there's a demand for it. I was thinking about starting up a Youtube account dedicated to Swans content? Wouldn't be much besides compilations such as this one below, which I made in July and was clearly a hit (100+ views woohoooooo).

I quite often find myself thinking, "I wish there was a compilation of (insert player) doing (insert particular footy practice)" or "I wish we could see all the times we did (insert particular game plan) in that game." So this could be the way to get it. My editing skills clearly need some work but I'd be willing.

Yay/nay?

I like it - what copy write issues if any will you have to account for? Will you need to say a few words to etc?

I'm not too sure Ticky. I didn't have any problems with my first video. I screen-recorded clips from the game from AFL.com and pieced them together using iMovie. Don't recall encountering any issues with copyright, was more the quality of footage that suffered. (Not sure of a better way though). I could always add a disclaimer that all content is the property of AFL etc etc just to be safe.

Do that and you get big enough the AFL will hit you with copyright claims and either close the account or steal all your sexy ad revenue

But do it anyway cause it's great!

Love it! Wish the club would do it but super happy if you're willing.

If you use clips and do a review it will be "fair use" what you can't do is just throwup the content without any other changes. has to be "transformative" in some way.

IANAL.

Also if you reverse/mirror the image then youtube's auto algorithm for copyright content doesn't pick it up.

It could be argued that our most irreplaceable player is Reid.

When he’s injured, we struggle.

He was absolutely immense during the 2016 season and finals.

Lol at the recent above.

One thing stuck out. This was the caesar88 about media bestowing cult hero on what are no doubt unsuspecting players.

I look at Scotty Boland who as an honest and unassuming Shield bowler has attained a weird cult hero status.

I think very Club and workplace or friendship group needs a cult hero.
The Bloods have never been short of one. At some stage this year the media will wake up that Foxy has long been ours.

Maybe a sharp journo will watch our Ressies and realise that in Silly Billy Edwards we ha have found another much loved cult hero.

To be a cult hero, you need a stand-out feature.

LRT had his goofiness, Boony was the keg on legs, Merv had the mo, Chris Martin (cricket) was the worst batsman of all-time, Eric the Eel couldn’t swim, Scotty Boland is the antithesis of the stereotypical fast bowler ….

Robbie Fox is simply a good AFL player.

The closest we currently have to a cult hero is Ruck Jesus.

contest this.

think we fans rated Foxy more than the coaches.

I really have high hopes for Edwards. He is crazy enthusiastic and unco. He will drive us mad giving away frees like a drunken sailor parting with their cash in a waterfront dive.

Merv also had the exercise stretching routine imitated by the crowd. He was a legend.

I don't necessarily agree. If you attribute to physical features it makes it wayyyy too easy for undeserving sorts to be given that title. Fox is as much a cult hero to us as Hickey given their unlikely rise to AFL regulars from a background of being underestimated.

It's a title that should be earned, not bought with some cheap tattoos or a whacky hair-cut.

I think you do not understand what cult hero is. Cult hero is one who appeals to the masses. Because of whatever reason. That is it.
What you want someone to be is entirely different. You cannot make someone a cult hero via logic or sound reasoning.

In Australia anyone vageuly outside the main stream is a cult hero.

Oxford defines a cult hero as: a writer, musician, artist, or other public figure who is greatly admired by a relatively small audience or is influential despite limited commercial success.

^ there is not one Swans player who fits that description better than Robbie Fox.
