The stats are terrible for the middle without him and George was a great back up
Where have you been bedders, I complain about the midfield nearly every week. I'm just saying that not enough time has passed for us to have even found a solution yet. FWIW I thought in the back end of last year it was the best our midfield has looked since 2017 when JPK, Hanners etc were all flying.

I complain as well as no big body and Parker has to hack it

If true that the big bodied thing is the issue then we're cooked, because the players everyone on here reckons are coming to save the day are even smaller than the ones we've got in there at the moment.

For me it's still just a set up thing.

George infuriates blues fans

Grundy is a good call or that Grundy Richards partnership , maybe also LRT. Genuine swing man, I know some will say Reid but he didn't play key defender that much

On the flip side of my earlier question, the transition from McGlynn to Papley as our primary small forward went remarkably smoothly. We genuinely could not have nailed that replacement any better. (With all due respect to McGlynn, who was obviously quality, Papley will go down as the greater player, if not already.)

McGlynn your giving too much credit too , no where in the same class

Papleys first season was better than any of McGlynns and he improved from there. Its not really a replacement anyway, more than one player can be a small forward.

Yeah I just meant replacement in terms of Papley replacing McGlynn as our main small forward. And you and bedders are right they're not really in the same league, just felt harsh saying about McGlynn who was also really good.

With the news of Buddy's retirement it got me thinking about a question I'd like to pose to folks on here...

Which Swans player's departure (either by trade or retirement) do you think we have been impacted by/struggled to recover from the most?

For mine it has to be Nick Malceski. I don't think we realised how much we relied upon someone providing that penetration and ability to slice open a team's set up with just one kick until Malceski was gone. It really wasn't until 2021 when we started to see a bit of it from Dawson, Blakey, and subsequently McInerney, Florent and last year Fox that we finally picked back up in a rebounding sense.

I'd also throw in Hanners. I don't think JPK became any less of a player once he lost his partner in crime, but I think he became a little less effective once he lost his partner in crime. That one-two punch of "JPK to Hanners" that became so synonymous with our successful era was suddenly gone. IMO it's not a coincidence that Hanners last good year in 2017 was also the last year we had a great midfield.

The Nankervis-Cameron 1-2 has turned out pretty costly.

that is a hoot…RJ and The Chad are very good, but guess they lend themselves to caricature.

Never been one for the merch but I have an ancient t-shirt with Mickey O terrorising the Weasel fans behind the goal. Am amazed it has stood the test of time and umpteen washes.

I'm personally a fan of the Fox & Lizard tails!

And if I had a Micky O shirt like that, I wouldn't wear it or wash it! (I know, that defeats the purpose of owning clothes.)

My favourite is my LRT t-shirt.
