How soon into a new year does the annual draft/trade/squad management thread normally get created?
About 5 mins before I start arguing with LP1 over needs vs best available, and about 10 minutes before Bedders makes his first leaderboard post.

Not sure I really get the apparent aversion from some (many?) to such a thread for general discussion about Swans squad management. Would seem harmless enough to me but maybe there's some history behind it that I'm unaware of. As Tickster said, we already have a thread to post in for that very same stuff... why have 2 open?
History has also proven such a thread difficult to mod where information is scarce &/or hypothetical. And I'm prettttttty lazy so have poo-pooed the extremely early implementation of any such thread whenever possible.
Please go hammer & tongs in the current Drafts, trading & free agency thread though!

12 months ago, I felt just as you do. Now, I am wiser.
My take is: in principle I absolutely agree it is not premature to be talking about trading and drafting. And there's apparently a big appetite for doing so, which is part of the problem. In practice, the same thoughts get recycled over and over with minor variation and the thread spawns dozens of pages a month of tiresome and repetitive and meaningless speculation (many months out from actual trade/draft season and with none of us really having much of a clue). And so there has grown a desire for some respite (even though, apart from the mods, nobody needs to go there and read it).
Please confirm if I have synthesised the situation accurately or advise and correct it if I haven't.
