Potential Trade Targets

Some talk Brisbane is going to push hard for Tippett due to the mass delistings of their backup ruckmens. They don't really have a key forward in that most of them are either; extremely under developed, to short, or are becoming terminators with the amounts of plates being put in their body. We could likely to expect pick #8 considering our position of power.

Would much prefer one of Brisbanes nice proven mids and a lower pick (maybe 3rd Rounder?) instead for Tippett (who I don't think will be going anyway)

So he will be terrible (jab at us not at him:D).

I think the reason we haven't delisted him is because we expect our midfield supply to improve and hence he will improve. But we won't need Warren if we get Gunston. Assuming you draft well and find another Brodie Martin then Warren will kick bags of goals for you.

Some seriously delusioned people are on the internetz

It is called the silly season for a reason.

I would be willing to take a punt on Thomas

I recognise that Thomas has had the yips this year however he has had almost 60 shots at goal in 2011, he has pace, provides forward pressure so fix the yips and he can become a 40+ goal per year small forward, IMO worth a punt especially considering our small forward needs.

Even quality players such as Ryan O'Keefe have had the yips in front of goal this year

Thomas is pretty good, really needs to fix his goal kicking.

On Gunston do people honestly believe we could get a selection as high as pick 18 for him? Of course I think he is worth it, if not more, but very much doubt the ability of our recruiters to pull this off. Hope i'm wrong.

Assuming that we get the multiple 1st Round Picks from different areas (Nth, Bris, Compo etc) and our recent draft history will get several really talented midfielders this year. So in an ideal world Martin won't be able to get a spot back in the team (due to selection pressure) and Warren will kick 10 a game. Implausible but I can dream...;)

Could package two of #8, #18 or #10 if trades pan out as expected, and maintain another quality pick, and still get pick 3/4 from GWS or GCS. Then we could expect to get this kind of return from this years exchange/draft; Wingard and, possibly Grigg/WHE/McKenzie depending on picks traded, or even Talia if needed, along with a few solid 2nd rounders. Also will get Band 2 compo for Davis, which we could use to obtain Kennedy (maybe O'Meara).

Our midfield for the future could possibly turn out like this if we pull our finger out and be aggressive. Dangerfield, Wingard, Grigg/WHE/McKenzie, Batman, MacKay, Smith. Very exciting.

It's all speculative, but plausable.

Interesting DANGERZONE.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the Mitch Clark trade to Fremantle. If your hypothetical is correct the trade could potentially be a 3 way deal.

My first preference would be to keep Tippett long term. How realistic this is however is hard to say :S

In that case, don't get Warren, we'll keep him as a depth player. Hope your forward line is ready to fire when you get your midfield right.

Logic would suggest that because we have drafted him in the second round (speculatively) and increased his value by bulking him up (slightly) and showcased his goal kicking prowess and KKF talent that he will get us a 1st round pick. Nth seem the most likely suitors ATM but things can change, if/when other Vic clubs get interested his value will be pushed up (supply and demand). So it is fair to expect that at a minimum he could get us Pick 18 from Nth.

Urquhart just needs a fitness base, something which Adelaide can provide him with. Lots of upside in him.
Has a great kick on him but the fitness issue seems to have been a problem since he joined the club and it's still his problem when his been on the list for a few years now which is a little disappointing.

Wasn't having a go at him, maybe i didn't use enough emoticons:)?. I'm probably more keen on him than most TBH.

I know Brisbane have lost their shit under Voss, but would a Tippett trade really work? He's on 700k here plus all that Balfours dough. Over the past two seasons, he hasn't gone close to deserving that kind of scratch. We're probably not gonna trade him unless we're getting a great deal, and Brisbane are at least going close to matching his current contract (so we're not paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a guy who isn't on our list,) which I'm not sure they'd want to do given his shitty form of late.
If a deal does get done, I think it would have to just about confirm that the weird gold coast get out clause in his contract is real.
If we're serious about trading him to Brisbane, I'd be doing all we could for Redden.

Pick 18 is about what he is worth. But given that North has other more pressing needs such as highly-skilled half back flanker we would be better off keeping pick 18 to draft a Sam Docherty or a Brad McKenzie if we're lucky. We already have Aaron Black, a similar player, who was taken several picks ahead of Gunston so they'll be fighting for the same spot. He isn't a need but a want.

Might be weird, but Vossy might be thinking, my players can hit leading targets. Just a thought...

Interesting stat on that DANGERZONE, back in 2010 when they had Brown and Fevola as their key forward and Adelaide was ranked 2nd with bombs inside their f50, guess who was first? ;)

Richmond? Riewoldt was taking all those screamers some how haha.

Nah, I said that because some of their key young midfielders have improved dramatically, and seem to be alot more composed and confident in their kicking, ie Rockliff, and Redden.

On the flipside, you have guys like Knights, Dangerfield, van Berlo, Douglas in our team that seem to bomb it up the chimney. Dangerfield I think will grow out of this and become more extractor, using his kicking for more outside, and on his trade mark runs when he has time, Sloane is alright, MacKay is silk.

Adelaide fans would you do this?

Brisbane give Mitch Clark and get Kurt Tippet

Freo Give Pick 16 and Palmer compo pick and get Mitch Clark

Adelaide Give Kurt Tippet and get Pick 16 and Palmer compo pick

your kidding, we get pick 16 and a compo pick for the highest ever paid player at the AFC :eek:

Warren's work ethic makes him a serviceable and fills a void in your forward line. He is as good as your midfield supply.

Anthony has been requested along with our pick 18. (North would be overpaying)

Campbell has been mentioned as that crumbing small forward you need but Thomas is your preference.

Garlett is an above average clearance specialist who is also a good user of the ball. A consistent contested ball winner who is reliable but without any upside. Fremantle would be keen on him.

Urquhart just needs a fitness base, something which Adelaide can provide him with. Lots of upside in him.

Get the message: we dont want servicable we want quality in return

FFS if Warren is so servicable why the f@#k are you likely to delist him.........

FFS to get something you have to give something, Gunna will improve your list, Warren and co wont improve our list.

Only post here if your going to put something up that is reasonable....

The quality is pick 18.

The bonus is Ben Warren. It makes sense because he'd play a similar role to Gunston.

If getting Ben Warren means you can then delist someone like Sellar or Cook then yes, you are improving your list.

I'll throw one out there..... Shaun Higgins.

Doggies could definately use a classy forward and we need outside polished midfielders. Both players have risks attached but big upside. Don't think doggies fans would mind giving up Higgins as he's not living up to his potential at the moment.

One to think about anyway.

Daz

FFF I will speak slowly for you Warren is not a bonus, he is just about to get delisted from your club

I'll rather take pick 18 and you can keep the steak knifes (Warren)
