What are we folks?? Front-runners or something.

At least have a crack at the best players, win or lose. After all the up side of such a thrashing is that there aren't too many to consider. :)

POTY

5. Goodwin - A welcome return to form by the skipper who led by example. Comfortably our best player last night.

4. Edwards - disturbingly another one of our over 30 brigade was one of the very few to come out of the game with their reputation intact. Like Goody read the play well and got a lot of it.

3. Massie - really liked his game last night. He was one of the few that looked comfortable with the increased pressure of the game and obviously loves a hard contest. If he keeps that form up he has to keep his spot in the team.

2. Stevens - Mr jack of all trades and master of none. Played a pretty handy game last night whether up forward or down back or wherever.

1. Burton - almost in this spot by default but he was the best of the forwards just by the arse hair of a gnat from Porplyzia. Being a forward for Adelaide last night was pretty tough with the loose men in defence for Geelong and both Burton and Porps did okay under those restricting circumstances.

Best Team Man

3. Massie - See above. As courageous as they come.

2. Johncock - Marred his game with some very ordinary kick-offs but worked hard in a defence that was under constant attack.

1. Maric - Big Eeevan worked his arse off taking on 2 genuinely good ruckmen and overall held his own IMO

ROOKIE

2. Maric - See above.

I can see why Goodwin is getting votes but he was in the middle against blokes who were tearing us a new one. Edwards was worse and looked very slow and at times disinterested last night. I am giving my votes to those who played close to their acceptbale levela nd whos opponent didn't thrash us

5 Bassett - tried hard all night forward and back and as usual looked like he cared

4 Bock - good on Mooney and gave us good run. Couple of poor disposals but to be expected

3 Massie - tried hard and was given no help from the midfield

2 Stevens - worked hard and was serviceable

1 Maric - up against it but was not disgraced

Jars, these comments would be relevant if Goodwin and Edwards had been given direct opponents to run with.

That didn't appear to be the case though - Craig appeared to use these two running free as part of our attacking game plan - one that was always going to end in tears.

A struggle this week to come up with 5 best players.

POTY:
5) Edwards - May have lost a yard of pace, but IMO still has it. IMO was our only player who didn't panic under pressure and could still hit targets by foot whilst in traffic.
4) Goodwin - Didn't want to give him 4, because IMO was practically unsighted in the first half when we needed him. Picked up his game in the second half, but the game was well and truely lost by then, but who else do I give them to?
3) Stevens - Was questioned on this board during about his ability to play in the "big" games, IMO answered this question last night quite well.
2) Bock - Despite being under immense pressure all night, still managed to create some valuable drive from defence and our night would have been a lot worse without him
1) Johncock - see Bock.

BTM:
3) Massie - Didn't necessarily have a great game, but put his body on the line continuously and that IMO gives him the 3 votes
2) Edwards - Stood up when no one else did and continued to contribute
1) Stevens - Not quite sure why, just felt he deserved a vote here.

ROTY:
2) Maric - Worked hard, won a lot of taps, not a lot of competition here really.
1) Vince - Thought he was really good early but dropped off well and truely after the first 20 minutes.

The players didn't get the memo if that was an attacking game plan. We were slow and stagnant and had shit laods of playes behind the ball and hardly had a forward line. It was Mark Williams esque.

Certanly does still have it, infact he never lost it!

Why is he the only one who can dispose of the ball under pressure, looks like Mick malthouse would only take him out of the whole crows team.

Incase you missed it Mick has said that anyone who can't handle pressure games he gets rid of them...........very smart man Mick!
