I've always wondered what it was that Primus disliked about Surjan. He was three times the player under Choco, then he hurt his knee and hasn't been the same since. However when he hits decent form in the SANFL he still isn't considered.

From what I have heard from le horses mouth, think Logan was always considered as a replacement for Surj and for what ever reason he was pushed aside because of that.

way to shake up the ground, delist 3 guys where 2 aren't even in the team that keeps failing and 1 is better than the people in the team in the same position..

Ideally you could cut the worst of the bunch wouldn't you? Otherwise you risk catastrophic wooden spoonage. Start from the worst and work upwards. It couldn't hurt to cut at least one under performing household name for the shake up factor.

Banner is the one that is just wrong. Injuries have hampered him this year, and he paid for not taking his opportunities during the NAB cup/challenge matches, but given our complete lack of a goal-scoring opportunist forward this year, he should have been brought in at the first viable opportunity.

Surjan was picked all season ahead of Logan until he got injured.

Salopek is very much on his last legs with us. The only thing that would keep him here would be the appointment of a coach who inexplicably is an unabashed Salopek fan based on watching him in the past.

I recall speaking to the wife of one of our former, most respected assistant coaches several years ago (probably around 2004) and she mentioned that Sal had some psychological issues that the coaches could not get on top of to develop him as a player.

I certainly don't want it to happen. I'm just firmly of the belief he won't be in our team next year.

What are you basing this on?

Surjan played 12 games straight before getting injured. We had a bye at AFL level and he missed the next week with injury. Comes back into the AFL side for round 15 then misses the next 2 weeks with injury. Plays a game in the SANFL, then the Magpies have a bye and in the next week he's a late withdrawal from the Magpies with injury. Named for the Magpies this week in what will be his 2nd SANFL game for the year and 3rd game over a 9 week period. He just doesn't seem anywhere near 100%, not even 80%. I can certainly understand why he isn't playing AFL at the moment.

Meanwhile, Sturt couldn't be bothered entering their reserves team sheets (and not for the first time this year) so I have NFI if Pittard or Curnow are playing this weekend. I'm assuming both are playing at ressies level. If Pittard gets through the game and can still breathe without too much pain he'll be straight into the AFL side next week IMO.

I'll just call it a hunch for now :)

I think we'll find both Salopek and Surjan won't be in our team next year.

Why Surjan? Played every game up until his injury and was one of our better players.

but my comment about Surj being gone was more because he is fit

If you have a source on that I'll take your word for it, but is he? IIRC he didn't play any football at all last week due to injury. If he doesn't play another game before the end of the year I'll be worried, but for now I'm assuming (and hoping) they're getting him some match fitness before bringing him back.

Anyone that watches training will know Surj did a hammy weeks ago. I reckon there was a mis diagnosis of his condition.

Think about his symptoms. First a glute then his back, hmmmm

if this is true then it has to be another nail in the (already nailed shut) coffin of someone in our "fitness" dept.
