Said is #33 & Boxhall #37

. Mattaes outstanding today..definitely covers the ground quicker since fining down his body
. Max King huge now, his upper body significantly bulked up
. Travaglia is like a whippet…like Wilson just effortlessly runs at pace for sustained periods
. I’d be surprised if Boyd makes the cut
. Keeler again impressed with his agility and skill
. The kicking again was impressive
. Intensity high but no injuries which was a plus
. Caroll, O’Connell and Max Hall will likely debut in ‘25…all looking good
. Gus McLennan was terrific today with his intercepts & one grab marking…one to watch as a lockdown defender

I wonder if the club will get Blakiston over aswell, to have a look at both he and Boyd together?

Training report 29/11/24 New
Took the morning off and went down today. Guys above have covered off a bit, few other observations:

King - massive quads on the man now. A seriously imposing unit. Hammer is also a huge man but when they were doing laps together Max made young Tony look small. Christ I hope it clicks and he gets a good run with injury.

Pou - so good. Everyone has already said it, but his leadership, engagement and 100% effort at all times is a thing of beauty. He’s athletic, has elite aerobic capacity and is a footballer. Future skip and gun.

Jerry - same as Pou, trains hard, has a good left foot and is a determined little bugger. Something weird going on with his left foot/lower leg in the running. Went down twice and was a strange sequence of events. Hopefully he’s ok.

Carroll - bit to like, afl ready body and nice left foot. Free throw at the stumps.

Trav - Wilson 2.0. Italian greyhound physique, not even a whippet, but he runs effortlessly. Gives 100% at all times, even doing warm up game activation drills which is where some blokes goof off a bit, which is also fine, it takes all types. It’s hard to tell with the 1st year guys because they are quarantined from the main group and aren’t doing major drills but he is clearly a footballer and carries himself with a healthy level of self belief. It is way too early to say whether he will play many or any games next season. Probably said the same thing about Darcy at the same time but we are stacked in HB/wing players which is where Travis would obviously fit.

Lancy Boy - seemed engaged. Feel like everyone makes a point of getting around him at all times. X factor for sure but still a long way to go.

Purple (Barrat) - very polite and contentious with the S&C people after the session. Seems like a good citizen.

RTB - from a distance, appears to be carrying less excess around the guts. Keep up the good work!

Banger - still rolling with the ankle socks.

Bolton - fairdinkum needs some stilts.

So what’s the story with Elwood and cole? Are they being asked to play in the Coates league as over agers or are they going to play at sandy?
Due to us not committing to them, can we draft them next year as NGA/FS picks?
Like we did with McLennan as he did an overager year in Coates league. If Cole did the same that could work.

That would be massive if we can still have access to them (especially if they improve) and got such a good haul this year.

Think Father Sons are always available in draft so doesn't matter when they nominate we always get the option. But could be wrong...

Thanks for all the training reports, people.
Great to hear the very positive feedback.

Kudos to all for not once using the phrase “training the house down”
even when referring to how well our Pou is doing!

interesting comment,is everyone else wearing rose coloured glasses?all seemed very positive re Boyd

please elaborate,i really think we do need a ruckman as back up,should we be flying blakiston over for a look?
Certainly fit & a very big body - too early to say anything about his football ability but I suspect he is a an upgrade on Moose (but older of course)

Apparently one of the reasons why Bolton left Collingwood was that Bolton and Leppitsch did not get along and Leppa ultimately won the battle.

Trust Ross to get him in line. All my Carlton supporting mates reckon BB strength is nurturing young talent so hopefully things align well for us.

Now Leppa is an absolute w***er. Shit bloke

Anyone know who* was wearing #46 today? Was playing a wing role in some of the drills.

Looked impressive in some of that group work - good size, good skills, made good decisions. Was also put in a group with mostly best 22 types and looked like he belonged. We might finally have someone decent on Sandy's list.

I have a mate who was doing some Christmas shopping with his wife in their home town. Leppitsch happened to be visiting that town. They ended up going to the same 3 or 4 shops at roughly the same time.

By the time they were in the 4th shop together, pure coincidence, Leppitsch was handing out death stares as if they were deliberately following him.

Do you reckon Gus is a Webster or Battle replacement?

He seems to me to be undersized & not mobile or athletic enough at AFL level

He's not big enough to be a Battle replacement.
If he lacks defensive craft then sure

But if he knows how to manouvre his body and read the flight of the ball then he could easily fill the role

Misson has also suggested his name multiple times since Battle left as a potential successor

Which is why I'm asking the question - he doesn't perfectly replace either of them

And you can argue he's not a half back either because he lacks explosiveness and foot skills

Misson says a lot of things to fill the air. Looking at him, he's smaller than Wilkie. That's not big enough to play on the types Battle did.
