I reckon given the amount of content he likes on Instagram about bags, coke and ket - plus vaping at our Mad Monday after the GF - there wasn't much hope that he was going to be an AFL quality player.

Unfortunately not as professional as his younger brother. Had the talent, but like a lot of players, you need the dedication to make it work. And seems he lacked that.
And instead of staying in melb to get onto a vfl list to get another shot at the afl system, he went back home. Split up with his gf after a while with the long distance (his ex is the neice of one of my friends, which was how I knew who was sub in some games) Guess he didn't want it enough.

I think mids being played out of position in the VFL is the biggest cop out excuse there is. There's a few blokes who are pure mids who don't have the skillset to be successful in other roles - but they're rare. Most mids play flanks early in their career and do well and progress into the midfield based on good performance in other roles - all of our current mids did.

Whenever he wasn’t in the middle, he could be played through / run off
Middle was his position as it was more see ball / get ball and, in initial contests, allowed him to be more unaccountable

Edit: I think he could play hbf in juniors but not at the next level which limited his viability

Fair enough, but that's a description of a want to be mid who either needs to develop his outside game or become elite on the inside to survive without an outside game - and he didn't look like becoming elite on the inside.

And playing for south adel, he is playing forward with very little stints in the middle.
Some kids I guess are just happy to play footy and have fun and not want it enough. Doesn't have the drive Sid does.

It's often more than drive - some good athletes have nice skills and look good in drills, but just don't see the game quickly or well enough to succeed.

Best to write off those you hate early. A bit of projection of one's own failures onto them is good: they're weak, they're too relaxed and need to fire up, they don't care enough, etc. Don't let the fact you know nothing about their situation get in the way. That's the space to fill with bile! Then when they come good, you can move your target to another generation of fringe players and direct ire toward them. So many personal problems to work out in this way, after all....

Take this as gospel - I have been told AJ is still struggling with social media barrage which is still lingering and affecting him.
My source - it’s impeccable ( not AJ) and told to me directly from someone with intimate and daily involvement with the squad.

I had high hopes but not expecting much now from AJ.
