Just watched AFL 360

As expected

All about GWS. We have to be concerned about all their players. We’re just mugs who fluked top spot and clearly pose no threat to such a champion side that’s draped into finals by beating a team that switched off at quarter time.
I cancelled kayo after the last round. Anywhere else I can watch this?

Not sure why anyone bothers with the media this week. I'm giving it a wide berth

GWs are not bothered by travel. Geographically speaking they are well placed being only an hour from Melbourne. Plus the Port game last week was pretty bruise free.

Travel and preparation are not an issue for them. Their only issue is can the seventh ranked team beat the top team. They will believe they can.
It’s one thing to not be bothered by travel, but it’s something else to be backing it up 3 weeks in a row against a team who is coming in fresh off a 2 week break who haven’t had to leave their city, let alone state.
You’re kidding yourself if you think that it isn’t going to be an issue they’ll actively have to try to manage.

Don’t let it get under your skin.

Personally I’d be much more concerned if we were being talked up as sure-things. We have a record of not turning up when over-hyped favourites.

To be able to go into Friday night’s game slightly under the radar is a blessing.

It’s quite often the case in the build up to the prelim, the media are all of the SF winners, it’s like they don’t remember the 2 sides waiting are generally the best sides in the comp.
It’s called recency bias. It happens every year both against and for us just like every other team, and just the me getting caught up in their own hyping up of the Semi’s.

Oh for sure, we got plenty of love this time last year.
I feel the club is just so focused on the ultimate this year there is no outside noise and the coaches are the best in the business and will have the side primed and ready, it’s our time.

IQ is a poor matchup for Greene because he ball hunts. Greene will play smart like Breust thinking IQ might mark 3 or 4, but when it hits the deck for the 3 or 4 he doesn’t mark Greene will be out. If it is IQ v Greene we need to squeeze them going I50 like we did to the Dees which means more numbers at the fall of the ball when IQ flies. Maynard though will wear Greene tight all game and sacrifice his own performance to tick that box.

I think that IQ v Greene will be the matchup and it will be a microcosm for the game itself. Maynard then goes to Brown. If it’s helter skelter IQ will struggle (as will the team overall) and if it’s a contested arm wrestle we can lock both Greene and the Giants away. I’m not sure if it’ll be enough, but I reckon it’s our best shot.

Not confident?

Have you been living under a rock the past 3 weeks? I feel like Josh has been asked how Nick’s going multiple times at every press appearance he’s done the past month (he’s been put up a lot in Nick’s absence). I also don’t think there’s much juice in the other story because it’s not as glamorous as the cinderella Giants.

I’m talking about the last couple of weeks specifically

It’s is our time. We can play our role. Every bump, every tackle, every kick, every moment, let it be met by a thunderous roar. Make our boys know that they are not there alone. That 85,000 of the Black and White Army are riding every second with them. Make the Giants shake with fear. Let them be haunted as the Collingwood chant echoes around the G. Make them know it our home and they are invaders who are not welcome. Paint the G Black and White.

Bris board seem to wonder the same thing. All the talk is about Carlton and GWS. It’s quite funny tbh.
Most of us predicted this would be where the media's attention would be this week.

I think Lions (who are probably more used to minimal attention) and us, would enjoy the focus being on Blues & Giants this week.

I couldn't wait until last week was over with all the attention on us for one reason or another (or smother).

All of us attending Friday night need to do their part, no quiet periods the crowd must be insane all night

I’ll be somewhat disappointed if it isn’t deafeningly loud on Friday

Last year we had 90K against Freo which means there would have been 85K Collingwood supporters and it wasn’t overly loud at all

I’d want 2010 Prelim to be topped this Friday

Where did I say they wouldn’t actively try and manage it? Just as Collingwood has been actively managing only having played one game in almost a month, gws will be managing tight turnarounds and travel considerations.

They are arguably the most travelled side in the afl and have played at more grounds than anybody else.

If we beat them it will be because we are better than them and have a well deserved home ground advantage, as ladder position implies.

Who they played and where and when in the previous two weeks will have no bearing on the result.
