You’re underestimating GWS, IMO.

If Toby kicks five goals then not only will we not win by 50pts, we won’t win at all.

The big danger I see is that so many of their mids regularly kick goals. Coniglio, Kelly, Green, Cumming, Bedford and Ward are all capable of kicking a goal or two, to supplement the output of Toby, Hogan, Riccardi, and Callum Brown (the good one).

Our mids don’t hit the scoreboard as much as theirs, so our true forwards really need to fire.

We'll be fine lucky

I DO actually believe that we’ll win. But I think it is going to be an incredibly hard-fought match. And relatively high scoring by Finals standards.

I have a feeling we are going to finish all over the top of them. Port were battered and bruised and didn't apply any pressure. Very confident about this one

How is this poor by the AFL? It’s how the finals work. Tough luck if you finish 7th and have to play the top seeded team that earns the 8 days to the grand final.

This narrative is really bugging me. I’m seeing lots of comments to this effect on social media because it’s an anti Collingwood stance. Big bad Collingwood making the poor giants travel with a 6 day break. People thinking the AFL looks after us. It’s a joke that that’s how others see things.

GWS could have made more efforts to play better footy earlier in the season and they’d have earned a home final finishing 4th.
It actually has more to do with Carlton getting an extra day. They could have given both teams 7 days. They could have also investigated the concussions during the game.

We have some goal kicking mids as well, Daicos X 2, DeGoey, Crisp had kicked a few lately, I'm not underestimating GWS but don't think we would lose because their mids kick heaps more goals than ours, who else can see Nick just slotting back in and dominating?

I think we’re a clear class above the Giants personally. I don’t think they will be able to score with ease against us, whereas I think our movement and fwd line will hurt them

where do we play Nick? and if the answer is midfield, who from GWS are going to tag him?

I’d be inclined to play Nick from halfback if it were against a team that would effectively tag him (as it’s been a very effective ploy against us). but do GWS have anyone that can go with him in the middle? I assume they’d go a run-with rather than a full on stop job, no?

so I’d be thinking it’s midfield on Friday..

GWS don't tag generally, hazard a guess the giants have confidence in their own game and not worry about Nick or Josh or Degs or Jack............. the list goes on.

That's where they're up against it, they'd need to change their mo in order to tag, it'll be system v system, both very similar, we've been doing it longer and probably more settled executing it.

I’d be thinking half-back or half-forward

I probably should've put this in the op.

We haven't been this well placed and prepared to win it since 77. There'll be no Phil Carmen incidents this time.

Since that time we've been perpetual foot shooters until Graeme came in and Wrighted the ship, and now Fly and co have brought the right culture and now the whole club are all chips in.

The only thing we haven't won on is the position we put ourselves in after the salary cap disaster. Meh, doesn't matter, we've traded in AFL listed no names and developed them probably better than any other club and they've seamlessly fit into the machine.

We have the right age demographic spread and list balance to take the cup this year.

More importantly every single player in the squad will not buy into superficial curses, they've got bigger fish to fry and will not be swayed by intangible folklore. They all know they're in the best possible position to win it, more advantage than the other 3 left in it.

The blose would have to be gassed and banged up.

The giants are basically living in a plane half the time, and have to beat us on our home turf

The brions also have to beat us on our home turf.

We will never be better placed to win the cup, We MUST take advantage of our most ideal position.

WE

HAVE

TO

WIN

IT

THIS

YEAR

AND

WILL!

This is refreshing from Adam Kingsley after the garbage emanating from Goodwin's mouth:

The Giants will have a six-day break leading into their Friday night final against the well-rested Magpies. But even that didn't concern Kingsley.

"I kind of look at it as though Collingwood have earned the right, so I'm not all that fussed over it to be fair," he said. "They finished on top, so they deserve an advantage, if it is that."

Nick will make us better for sure but I doubt he’ll dominate after such a long lay-off. I also think he will be tagged by the same guy that last night kept Zac Butters to just 9 touches in the first half.

gws don't generally tag, if anything the Butters role was a run with not a hard tag, Butters had an off game if anything rather than 'shut down'

I honestly hope they attempt the tag on Nick, it allows our plethora of other play-makers off the chain. I doubt they will but, they'll try to out Collingwood Collingwood, very difficult to do.

We're in the box seat.

Who was on him?

Personally I’d have cox to take first bounce and do the same thing he did to Gawn, I knew we were on as soon as that happened. Test out Briggs shoulder.
Coxy was great in the first qtr, particularly. Wouldn't be surprised if he broke Max's toe. Lol. He was certainly getting under his skin.

I’m a bit nervous about Darcy’s “tendon damage” to be totally honest, probably exacerbated by Tay going down. Put my mind at ease BF medicos 🙏
