This looks attractive, and possibly better than stopping at Campbelltown. Thanks for the suggestion.
Some questions:

Is there ample parking at Harris Park station?
Do the trains run direct to whatever station (?) is closest to Soulless Stadium, or do I have to change trains? What line is it?
Someone mentioned an Opal card is required to travel on the train, even with a game ticket making it no cost. Is that correct? If so where do I get them? I hope I can get them at the station itself and don't have to stop somewhere on the drive up.

I'm planning to get away fairly soon after the game and get home to Canberra before midnight (lots planned for Sunday). If there's post-game celebrating to be done it'll probably continue all week anyway!

The Giants are running a free bus from Canberra (legislative assembly , leaves 12pm and then leave spotless at 8.30pm)

Wait for the propaganda in the papers claiming GWS fans outnumbered Dogs fans - don't believe a word of it!
Just had a look at the GWS board and some on there are claiming that the crowd will be 70/30 in their favor. I pointed out that Bulldogs Members purchased more than 30% of the total seats at the ground, so they can forget have 70% of the crowd support. They'll be lucky to have 50%.

I had two extra tickets because of the Ticketmaster confusion. Started to think I wouldn't be able to sell them so I sent a message on facebook to Ticketmaster complaining

Got a full refund :) It was very easy, would suggest it to anyone who got extra tickets and can't get rid of them.

Did the same thing. My single ticket refund is being processed. Thanks for the advice.

Just letting you guys know if you are still looking for tickets.
Virgin has a flight MEL to SYD 1130am on saturday selling $289 fares. Return on Sunday 1225 $335.
Forget about Qantas. Cheapest they have on SAT is > $600. the cheapest they have for the returning flight on Sunday is >700. bastards...
jet star is very unreliable and wont fly with them. tickets $ similar to virgin.

it seems that its going to cost me $650. Cheapest I have found so far...

Thanks Disto. Would have been ideal. Unfortunately whether we won or lost, life would not be worth living on the way back if it's full of Orange.
Besides they might not appreciate my RW&B paraphernalia even on the way up!

I quoted the figures to show the abject failure of the strategy. The simple fact is that GWS have virtually no support in the area it was created to draw support from. The money wasted on this marketing exercise by the AFL is a scandal. The money could have been spent on developing the kids out west. I work in a voluntary capacity with the Congolese refugee community and I can tell you there are more Aliir's out here if they can be supported and nurtured. But no these kids and other poor kids struggle for support from the AFL and meanwhile the money has been spent on Folau (remember him) and a bunch of first round picks from Victoria and the southern states. GWS even if they win a flag or two will never win over people in the west of Sydney because there has been no real grass roots development. But put your orange cap on and ignore reality. As for my right to talk I am a South Melbourne supporter for sixty years living in NSW so I have every right to talk about a club and its traditions.
I'm not going to get into a running slanging match on another team's board so I'll leave it here, but surely people can see the relationship between the growth of the Swans in Sydney in the past 25 years and consistent success and then apply it to what the plan clearly is for the Giants.

The AFL are doing nothing more than what they did during the mid 80's when they completely turned a blind eye to the salary cap in the hope that the Swans would buy a few flags and some fans. Just substitute Edelsten's cash for first round draft picks.

And as for my club and its survival, you're about five years too late.

Just throwing this out there, no idea if it would make sense, but what about trying a flight to Newcastle and then rent a car? Might be cheaper

You can fly to Newcastle for $340 return then hire a car for $70.
2 hour drive to ground.

Thank you. We have decided to do this and with everything included (Car hire, petrol, parking, a motel for the night and flights) comes in at least $600 cheaper for the two of us and the flight times suited us better as well. Flying with Jetstar.

Great. 2 more doggie supporters at the game.

That reminds me of a bus trip I took to watch a baseball game in Detroit (wearing the opposition colours), They US customs almost shot me at the border cos I had my hands in my pockets.

I'm taking that bus so hopefully they let me on board! The bus ride back is going to be hilarious, hopefully for me and not them.
I have no idea what parking at Campbelltown is like BTW but it would have the advantage of not needing to drive too far into Sydney.

On the road. Stopped in Lavington, Albury last night. Passed the firefly coach to Sydney on the way - a cheap travel option? If you get the night bus you can sleep most of the journey.

We're off to Canberra then Bulli then SinCity for the match. This is meant to be a family holiday but in my head I'm all 'I'm off to the prelim off to the prelim' :)

Wanted to stick my scarf out the window the whole way but got overruled

Selling my ticket to the PF - section 242, row L, $65 (face value). Have PDF that I can email. Crushed I cannot make it - logistics and prices did not work in my favour, given I have a 8am flight to Darwin on Sunday. PM me if interested.

Damn, looks like a couple giving up tickets.

I've also got one for sale
Section 236R, 8 rows from the fence - (Bulldogs Member area) - paid $122 for it, will pass on to Pups fan for $100.
Shoot a PM if keen

The Zeno Tzatzaris Park (aka Spotless stadium) is almost ready and is in tip top condition for the big match between GWS and Bulldogs
