^^^Mainly because I didn't know that

I was suggesting it because he's a Victorian lad, he's been with us for three years and he seems to be falling behind in the pecking order a bit behind McKenzie and now Wilkes. Not because I want him to leave.

You're wrong:D

At least, I think so. My understanding is we have a list of 38 senior players and 6 rookies and veterans(+ potentially a NSW rookie)

So this year we had 38 senior players, one veteran (Braun), 5 ordinary rookies (Wilkes, Wilson, Arrowsmith, Sullivan, Stevenson) and Davis.

Before the pre-season draft we need to get the senior list down to a maximum of 35 so that we have at least 3 picks in the draft. Fletcher and Wirra can both (I think) be put on the vets list but Wilkes and Davis are both likely to be promoted to the senior list to take their places, so we still need to cut/trade at least three (probably four) players.
Ahhhh... Cheers for that :thumbsu: Does sound right.

This year we have 39 players on the senior list (38 plus Braun as a veteran), not 38 in total, and 6 rookies, like you said. I'm not sure why it ended up that we have 45 players overall but I bet it's because Davis is a NSW rookie.

Anyway, next year, when/if we have Fletcher and Wirrpanda as veterans, that'll only open up one spot on the main list, as one of them will be replacing Braun as a vet listed player. It wont open up 2 spots.

So, if we want to promote Wilkes and Davis then we'll have to delist a further 4 or 5 players from the main list to take 3 or 4 picks in the national draft, respectively. Then, if we want a PSD pick we'll need yet another spot to be created.

We have to axe at least three guys at the end of the year. Who will go?

I expect us to cut more. We're going to be looking to add some new blood at year's end, so maybe we'll have to make 4-5 new spaces.

I guess the best way to do it is to package two players and trade them for one draft pick.
We trade Seaby and McKinley to melbourne for there first round pick. We pick up Nik Nat and Rich and a forward crummer in the draft.
Brown, Kennedy, Lynch (back in the forward line as a leader as we will have many mids to use next year especially if we draft rich) Lecras and small crumming forward we pick up in draft.
I like McKinley's talent but not his lack of defensive pressure and apparent un willingness to stay an eagle FFS the man cried at draft day that he was gonna come here that says it all! (and is probably why he is soft in defense) and Seaby does not seem to want to be second fiddle to cox which I can understand I think Nik Nat will be happy to play the second role and will come of age and talent just as cox will start to age.
That way if we free up a space by placing Fletcher and Wirra on the veterans list and trade 2 players we can easily draft 3 players into our line up. I would also like to see 2 of our rookies elevated and at least armstrong de-listed along with one other.

Shock horror, a young kid who went into a draft with 3 in 4 odds that he would end up on the east coast, and a further 2 in 16 odds that he would end up a one hour flight away in Adelaide, showed some emotion when he realsied he was going to have to move away from friends, family etc etc all the way to Perth.

Because of this one reaction are we going to hold it against him forever? Not every player is Chris Judd, more often than not they have stayed and given time have settled. I seem to remember Wirrpanda wasn't wrapt about being here, and was homesick. He's West Coast through and through and has not looked like leaving.

As for the last comment I have quoted, am I seriously to understand that you believe McKinley is soft defensively on the ground because he cried about an interstate relocation? He took several one on one marks against Fletcher and Michael on the weekend, but he's soft because he cried once?

Try respond to the entire post next time and not just single out one comment and try make it look like that is what I was discussing.

but ok fine, I wont post any mre inflamatory remarks about ben. I believe that he is a talanted kid any will slot into a forward line at any club. If he does not want to stay an eagle than refer to the above post.

So we'd trade pick 1 for McKinley and Seaby?

Are you an idiot?

aernt you guys looking to draft jack watts? not sure what his stats are as in height but McKinley would surely become your #1 forward he will be a star. And is allready developed, Seaby is also a great ruckman would instantly be your #1 ruck both players will be stars for the MFC.

This is all under the assumption that we will trade McKinley at the end of the season which would only occur if he actually wanted to go.

So what would you "o wise men" want in a trade for McKinley and Seaby. Danny.. davey?????

For starters, Melbourne will not part with their number 1 pick.

Second, Seaby would not be instantly a number 1 ruckman at MFC.

I rate Jamar ahead of Seaby. He has been a massive dissapointment in the last 2 years. A bloke his size needs to mark the ball if he cant get around the ground, which he cant. So he does neither.

Basically he taps the ball and is out the contest. At best he'd command a 2rnd pick.

3rd. Mckinley will not be going anywhere.

A couple of years ago Seaby would of been a number one ruckman at a lot of other clubs.

But he has gone backwards since then so it would no longer be the case.

seabs is worth keeping.

he's had a bad year, yes. but he has come back into the team and really helped out with coxy. he contributes.

let him have a good preseason and show us what he can do next year.

im confident he'll bounce back.

No, he wouldnt be.

Im not sure which Mark Seaby you have been watching, but he is poor, very poor.

Im assuming you became a supporter at the start of this year. He has been a great ruck over the years and is hampered this year by bad team performance and lack of game time. Given the opportunity to play as a #1 ruck he would star, im sure that many many supporters would agree with me on this.
Now can u answer my previous thread.

I would only want him packaged into the deal if we were going to get Nik in the draft with Rich.

have you onlywatched football this year? yes, he ha been in shit form this year, but watch his work when cox was injured, he was great.

I've watched for the last 5 years and I see a fair bit of him at WAFL level.

You on the other hand, seem to think you know a lot more than you actually do.

I'll break it down for you. Seaby is a ruckman, he taps the ball. After that his worth around the ground his very small, he rarely gets clear because his workrate isnt the best, he doesnt take enough marks for a big man and his work around the clearances is poor.

He looks like Bambi on ice in a one on one situation, his thighs point inward and his balance suffers as a result. Basically he's bow legged behemoth who cant add anything after the inital centre bounce.

Also, if he does get the ball through general play, I've lost count of the times one of his handballs sells another player into trouble.

I know everyone likes to talk up the positives of the players, but sometimes there comes a point when you cannot defend a bloke.

He was 5th in the club for contested marks last year and kicked 21 goals all of this as the number 2 ruckman. Not every ruckman is used as a clearance player / extra midfielder like cox. I think we have been over blessed with cox it makes Seaby seem worse than he actually is.

And i doubt you have been following the rise of Seaby for the past 5 years, watching the team mabye but not the specifics of the player.
