Was a pleasure seeing Rambo first hand yesterday. Along with Micky Blood, in the top 3 bigman I've seen in the amatuers.

Absolutely surreal feeling when the siren sounded. It was like Collingwood/St. Kilda allover again.

Guns everywhere, some we didnt see enough of but good enough to make the team.

Scott for Wynne
Taft for Shakaib
and wintles got to be there somewhere too hmm
others to consider Goss, Crozier, Gotch, Parton, Sherwin, Hellier

Howat and Crozier clear best at OC this year. Rowe and McQ-Misg next. Willingham, Smithwick next. Blanket over Parton, Evans, Fiorenza, Peterson and Josephs.

Dear galloping,

Given he just won the Woodrow Medal, OT's skipper Brendan Iezzi (err....not Lezzi) probably deserves to start on the ground don't you think?

Here here scribe!

it amazes me that iezzi is still underrated on this forum. no midfielder in a-grade is as damaging when they get the ball. he breaks lines, side steps opponents, and has a penetrating, accurate kick. plus he gets his own ball and stands up when the team really needs him to. also, he doesn't have the support of several quality midfielders around him that many of the other top line midfielders do (eg st bedes, coll, xavs, blues etc).

well deserved ietta.

Wow he must be the greatest player ever..... Give me a spell

You also left out "Has a sook when things don't go his way", and "has a history of playing a little dirty".

I guess a shining light in a dull season for OT.

I agree. I think he was a shining light and a very good player, but i can think of 1-2 better players in each of the top 6 teams, in my opinion. Also saw one of those games where he wasnt in OTs best half dozen because he was completely outplayed, Rambo kicked 6 and pacconi was great and he still got three votes!

i would agree that there are other midfielders who are as good ball winners, but i think where iezzi really stands out is the damage he inflicts when he has the ball. the best midfielders in the comp are all great ball winners but don't get the mileage with the ball that iezzi does. 'distance carried with the ball' is very highly valued in the afl, i can't think of a player that is superior to iezzi in this regard or a more complete player for that matter. no doubt there are days when he is outplayed, that's going to happen occasionally when you've got two blokes hanging off you all day.

So the traditional wind at EP has been forecast for the weekend and its finals time!

Will Collegians risk Sauntner this week having missed two weeks with a hammy..for someone with an old body and dodgy knee it is a big risk..another twang and its finals campaign over.

Will Gollum have enough tricks in his bag of student thesis to knock off the Toorak toffs?

Which of Benny's favourite sons will make up the trio of those in charge of the games?

How many footy's will finish up on the fairways of Royal Elsternwick?

Will the Competition medal winnrs run a lap of honour
at half time on the final day?

So many questions...so few answers.

My selections this week: SBMT & Xavs

OSOM

Does he still play loose across half back or on ball?

Still gets a bit of ball from free kicks running past but had a big tank this year and ran and ran. Multiple efforts and ran his taggers hard. Also won more contested ball this year despite the tag. Season caught up with him a bit and missed last few with injury. A very worthy winner.

Has it fallen any better for OX? Should account for Uni easily and have the 2 sides above fight like crazy to aviod them in a prelim. They have won flags from third before so no issue there.

OX and Collegians for mine.
OX looked good against depleted Panthers last week. Far better combination than UB and a sniff of finals time and away they go.
Collegians still the best l have seen this year. The day they ripped the Panthers apart about round 6, best performance l saw for the year. Beat us by 66 points, backline under extreme pressure all day.Movement of ball was brilliant and no Sautner that day.
STBM at Sportscover??? Still think of the day OX had them goaless until 10 min in last quarter.

Not at all sure Sautner will re-appear this year.

Wow, more wind again tomorrow, damn!!!
Good luck to the 4 teams, I think OX will win it again, hope they don't, no good for the comp.
We at OH just couldn't get a clear run at it, hopefully we can bounce straight back again next year, I would expect that we will get Brede Seccull from the school amongst others.

See you next year!

Those who keep talking about the wind are always lookinf for an excuse later on!! And Rah you've been brilliant all year, stay in touch old fruit.

Xavs to smash STBM and then a 50/50 GF with Wesley. Plugger Lynch again brilliant on Sunday. This man loves September and loves controlling the pace, tempo at Elsternwick.
