I think James Tyquin was the captain this year?? St Bedes are in a perilous situation with core players moving on and an ageing list. Their younger players may be exposed, but they do have some quality coming through, although they will need some support. They are a very proud club but the confirmed moves by Tyquin and Phibbs tears at the fabric of the place. The Wintles are champions but are into their 30s and can't continue at the same level forever, as great as they have been.

De La have a similar problem of their top line players being poached. And not all have been named as yet...

Any other rumours doing the rounds??? I am looking for a distraction on the Friday before christmas and it would be get some goss on the other teams.

I can maybe help you with this one. Collins and Muller to an EFL Div 2 club for $$$. Collins a big loss. Muller could not nail down a spot despite the club turning over 50 players in the seniors due to injury. Can probably cover him but a shame to lose a young bloke with such potential. Williams and the younger Humphrey training at Collingwood VFL. With very few spots available on their list I expect both will play plenty of games at De La. Rumours about 1 or 2 others, mainly those who could not lock down a game in the seniors so they can be probably be covered. Sam Nethersole travelling os but apart from that things looking pretty good and most of the best 25 remain. Some very good in’s plus a heap of returning quality players who barely played in 2011 due to season ending injuries early on. Our 2s won the flag and the U19s have played 6 premier div GFs in a row for 4 flags so heaps of young talent around the place. Pretty happy with where we are at but a long way to go before the ball is bounced for 2012.

Uni Blues looking very strong and Colls and Xavs keep raising the bar. Will be another cracking season.

l see Rep Squad has been announced and no Jack Hellier (St Bedes), has he left them too because he would be one of the first named in my opinion. Very early for a Rep game, April 1 v EFL.

According to VAFA website, Jack Hellier is training with Collingwood. Maybe this is the reason for his omission from the training squad.
Early start to representative season is probably due to EFL fixturing.
EFL season commences 14 April (Divs 2, 3 & 4) with Div 1 commencing on 21 April. The only mid season break in the EFL is the Queen's Birthday weekend. The VAFA has scheduled a game against AFL Sydney on the QB weekend. As the EFL is a professional league, don't think the EFL clubs would be too happy releasing players to play representative games (on the VAFA Premier bye weekend in July) whilst home and away games are scheduled.

Bernards have picked up the following since christmas:

- 6 AFL Players (currently listed not ex)
- 8 NRL players

We are also in talks with Superman, but he wants a job.

A section is getting a mention on the B section thread lately.
The lads must be a bit rusty after the holiday break

A you probably noted Carlton a big ‘A’ section rumour is the Yze brothers to Old Carey. Obviously both hugely talented but both mid 30s and in the case of Adam you would think that his role at Hawthorn might restrict his availability. Damian Yze known for following the $$ so how did the Panthers swing that one? Do you see any possible fall out - i.e. opportunities for youngsters V playing a couple of old blokes (albeit very very good old blokes)?

How's Peter summers going at uni blues?

You seem to have been asking that question for several months now. Almost bordering on an obsession. As pointed out previously Uni Blues folk not known for their BF postings so you probably wont get your question answered here. I know he’s a very well credentialed player but why the fascination with Peter Summers?

Watch him take the piss this season best player i've ever played with.

Word on the street is the Blues are getting a culture change with Fergus Watts too. He is laying down the law apparently.

I may aswell get this thread rolling along, can someone please tell me why Fergus Watts would put in a clearance from Collegians to Uni Blues if he is coaching?

Does this mean the big-shrieking-oaf might be strapping on the boots, if the performance of the blues aren't up to his standards?

Is Fergus going to save the day again?? Didn't he do that on the eve of the 2010 finals series when Collegians were playing better without him?? Failed horribly. Hopefully Fergus's ego doesn't get in the way of coaching the team rather than attempting to play again for personal glory.
BTW - how is the growing casualty list at St Bedes. Tyquin, Anstey, Phibbs, Luke Collins, Pat Nicholls, and Garside and Hellier on Collingwood's top-up list.
A few more still to announce their departure at De La...

It could only bode well for the other teams if he does pull them on!! I also wonder if he's going to implement the press this year seeing they used it so well last year?!?

What's happening else where? I see Anderson and Powell have gone nuts on the recruiting based on the clearances!

Most of them are juniors. You need to look at where they are coming from

Not sure if he'd want to take the required pay cut for a playing coach.

Do tell.....I would suggest that those leaving have already announced their departure.

At least two more to come. It wouldn't be fair to name them at this stage of the pre season if they haven't yet told the club.

PM me then and I can tell you honestly if they have gone. While inevitably there will be some more player movements I think we are across all the major departures. 2 players who we had written off as going returned to training this week so perhaps it is one or both of those.
