Thanks Rooster for the info re the 19's. I'm now far less concerned. As the are the only Premier side without thirds and they play 4 short in the ressies, I think there are some issues. But under 19's will help fix this.

Had the cleaners put through them in the off season which was well documented and while they are obviously having some tough times I think the word crisis is a bit strong.

What they achieved in going from C – A and winning flags in every division on the back of home grown talent deserves the greatest respect. They have clearly invested in the unders which will hold them in good stead for years you would think.

Tough Times/ Crisis? Whichever way, they have my respect. I think the are clearly made of the right juice and will not just fall and wintle away.

Lawrence is a good coach and it will be a tough pill to swallow going back to b grade. Theyve been competitive all year but the riggers of A grade is just a little too much right now

Having said that, they'll be better to go back and reload for 2014. Get rid of some old stock and rejuvenate for the future. Don't want to sound like the Melbourne media, but someone like Kanis cold do a lot with them post Lawrence. And before I get shot down by CGFC supporters, I'm not saying SL should get the boot! Reckon after 4-5 years he might want to spread his wings!?!

I'm guessing this will be the weakest round of the year in terms of injuries for most clubs?
Trinity
Carey
DLS
Xavs
Collegians

Even though i'm taking the obvious tips every side might get beaten this weekend

Don't know about the whys and wherefores but I think Carey are happy to wear their alternate strip. Perhaps they made the offer to SBMT.

SBMT to bounce back against Trinity
Carey to continue Caulfield's woes at home
Blues in a tight one over De La
Xavs too good at the Snakepit although Bernies could surprise
Punt Roaders comfortably over Scotchies

Carey to make Caulfield's 0-11
DeLa too much class for Uni
Xavs at the Snakepit
Scotchies in an upset over an out of sorts Collegians

Trinity, to beat the brindisians in a close game.
Carey at home, lookin good.
DeLa- Comfortably over Blues
Bernies- Hopeful at the Snakepit.
Collegians- Comfortably over Scotch

Don't disagree with your views on Lawrence. Just like any club/coach relationship it is reviewed at the end of the season and both parties have a think about what they want. Personally I wouldn't mind the relationship continuing.

Kanis was a champion player at Caulfield and is very well respected. There is no doubt he has some love for the blue & white and there are plenty at Glenhuntly who are very fond of him. However he hasn't been at Caulfield for a great many years and choose to be somewhere else. That could be an issue for some.

Fantastic win by the DLS boys today down at UNI. Host of there top liners out and got the job done.

Still scratching my head over how Jack Watts gets away with what he does. Theres playing hard and then theres being a dog and he falls quite easily in to category B. embarrassing at times the way he pots blokes and some of the late hits, not really tough in my eyes.

Can think of 7 players in De La Salle best 22 not out there today, credit to the depth!

Not sure what happened there. Disagree re 4th. Scotch, Carey or Snow Dogs best would worry anyone on its day. Re DLS having 7 of best 22 out, yes great depth, but there would not be a team who hasn't the same issue with injuries, work, travel etc. Missing only 7 of your best 22 is not a bad result for any club. Have a feeling Bernie's vs Carey next week will be a Biggy. Winner can sneak 4th, loser will play out the year with no hope of finals or relegation. Still think STBM will go down with Caulfield at end of year.

No question that all teams have absences, especially at this time of the year but probably more the profile of those missing. Not including VFL players they were missing their FB, CHB, CHF, Ruckmen, 3 or 4 of their best mids and a couple of their better forwards. A Woodrow, several Big V jumpers and a few B & Fs amongst them. I think his point was despite the injuries De La have (with a few hiccups along the way) have kept rolling along and finding a way to win by promoting U19s and players from the reserves.

I see the Cardinals have dropped out the 4 and have been replaced on percentage by Carey. While I’m sure the Panther supporters will disagree I still fancy the Cards to see some September action. Scotch the only team to have played Xavs & Colls twice and with 7 to play I reckon they have can bank enough wins against lower ranked teams to get them in.

Carey building nicely but have a massive game next week at the pit. A must win as they still have the top 3 sides to come in the last 6 rounds. While they might get over De La at home I can’t see them beating Xavs or Collegians. The Bernies with a poor percentage simply have to a win next week to stay in touch.

Agree it will be tight. 11 wins should get you 4th. Carey vs Scotch return game the most likely decider. No games coming home are easy, particularly if you play a desperate STBM or OT's who have to win to stay up.

That Gentleman is what makes this competition the best going around. Very happy to be in the 4 this week but so much can happen that can change that. A break this week, time to get some friendly banter going ????
