Makes Xavs "hiring and firing" Commitee look like the "teddy bears picnic".........
Well it is only a week or so since the 20th anniversary of the most successful coach sacking in football history. Maybe Skobs are hoping to replicate. 11 wins would likely get them in the four!

Historical note: since 1996, there has been exactly one coaching departure at Old Xavs that wasn't voluntary, so I think you are overstating the "hiring and firing" call.

Had Harf, full time

So was Edgar. In fact Harf was not as full time as you might think, hence the need for co-coaches. Edgar has been at SKOBs in late 2013. Are you telling me his people skills have only just now become an issue?

As coaches are the only ones getting paid they are highly accountable but if you are suggesting he was dismissed due to his 'people skills' I think that is a bit of a stretch.

Had Harf, full time

Intriguing weekend ahead.

Blacks Trinity is huge. Some saying Blacks the form side of the comp and if so, send Trinity out of the 4 for the 1st time this year.
Blues OM's is similar. Expected result sees the overachieving OM's slide further away from a surprise september bout.
De La Xavs. Will be a rip snorter. Xavs with some big ins after another bye. Will be great viewing on a sunny dry day. Draw.
Collegians SKOB. Will the Harf keep the dream alive? No.
Bernies at Carey. Bernies need this one to keep A Grade candle flickering. May be doused and both sides passports stamped after round 13. Likely.

FWIW exact same scenario as Berry at Xavs

The 3rd time he's been sacked mid season, Old Geelong, Monash and now SKOBS and he thought he could get a senior VFL gig.

massive weekend. Every match has plenty of meaning. To keep their dream alive, Bernards need not only to win, but win well. They have a massive % gap to make up on skobs.

How about you give it a rest on bagging a coach who has just been given the bullet? You clearly have a personal gripe against him. And I am making a guess that most other posters on this forum don't care for your incessant digs against him here.

Agree 100%, fine to speculate and discuss but of course Bedford has to revel in someone else's misfortune. Have read this forum for a while and there is 2 absolute guarantees you will find almost every week/post from 2 particular posters.

1. Brian speaks absolute tripe and gets himself into positions where he is easily ridiculed due to shooting his mouth off (or fingers typing away).
2. Bedford is one seriously bitter man. Almost feel for him with such negativity coming out of him every day on this forum. You've only got one crack at life mate, try not to be so angry all the time about everything. 'Poor me/poor Ormond' is all you ever hear.

Well don't read it, im not breaking any rules. Was just questioned and gave some history , that's all and I hope Harf gets the job and does it well.

Not sure your history is correct Bedders. No matter what your personal view of Jon Edgar is (and you are quite entitled to that opinion) you should be careful posting things as fact.

He never sought out or applied for a senior VFL gig. Did a year as an assistant to Ayres, stepped away for family reasons and was invited back the year after. One indisputable fact is that Gary Ayres knows more about coaching than you, me or anyone else here so would suggest that if he twice saw fit to appoint Edgar then he must have some qualities. In regard to OGs and Monash – I just don’t know that to be fact either.

What I do know as fact is that he coached the De La unders to 2 flags in 2 years. Was at Port the year they won the flag and was co-coach at St Kevins last year when they won a flag. Across those 4 seasons he was involved in one loss – pretty solid coaching record for mine.

I have conceded here that Jon has his moments but it seems you are taking a coaches misfortune and twisting it to suit your own theory.

Maybe a good story for the tragics

Coaching undefeated teams is always an interesting one. You could make an argument that your side is just too talented as opposed to it being a case of great coaching. Was Alan Joyce a great coach or had the unlosable team? Just a thought. I just think people read far too much into the "undefeated season" tag regarding the ability of the coach.

Bedders is right about the OGGS sacking-I was playing there at the time! I reckon it was about round 6 2002 and we were losing (we won one for the year) and lets just say he let his feelings known in no uncertain terms. I don't know about Monash but he now has two mid season sackings (at least) on his resume.

Did your one win for the year come before or after the round 6 sacking?

Thanks for your thoughts Jon.

All the best in your future endeavors.

Rooster, why didn't he get the De La senior gig when he applied given is 39 - 1 record with the Premier U/19 team? If my memory serves me correctly, the outgoing coach was the previously the U/19 coach also so it was a surprise that he didn't get the gig....especially to him....but not so much anyone else I was told.
I think Edgar falls into the number one reason why coaches are successful......great players.....a bit like Alan Joyce at Hawthorn.

No idea Mountzer. I don’t know who applied for the job but would suggest that few could have beaten Satterley for the job anyway. JE had been gone 3 years before senior job came up and took an assistant job at Port Melbourne after the U19 flags. Outgoing coach was Greg McLoughlin who to the best of my knowledge never coached the unders. Think he came from another VAFA club?

Rooster, didn't DeLa approach Satterley when they ascertained he was again interested in coaching following the Dees experience?

My timings may be wrong Rooster, my mistake. I thought he applied when Dave Madigan resigned.
