I agree with you "Hats off to Roy Harper", although the 2008 team had plenty of heart and were well coached, unlike the current model.
You're only as good as your last game, and lets not get stuck on games the happened 5 years ago.
We have runs on the board, in fact the 4 points that we recieved at the hands of the once feared tigers (meow).
I Got told again by several sources about Dwyers lack of professionalism, in that he turned up to a blokes place of work and verbally abused him for not playing for SMBT after a handful of training sessions with no ties to the club. (Apparently the only reason that the bloke didn't snot him is because he acts in a mature and professional way).
Is this true?
Pretty ordinary if it is..... Are the club really happy with this bloke at the helm???
Bring on the violet crumbles in round 2. Go Sharks!!

Im not sure what this lack of professionalism thing you keep going on about.
The team of course is differnt. But the club is the same and as strong as ever.
I believe the coach is a fine coach.
There has been a few players that have left because they didnt want to do the work required to play A grade ones. They took the easy soft way out. And it seems at times they are out to attack the coach and the club.
I dont know what happened with this work thing. But i can see what you are trying to do. And good luck to you. Its a load of shit.

Ruptured his Achilles actually Brian. No exit and will remain in a coaching capacity when he is mobile again. Wants to play on next year.

De La where already 1 down before then with a player doing a hammy in the warm up. So 20 players for the entire game and 2 goals down deep in the last this was one of the better wins you might see. Bloody hard to win at TP even when things are going your way.

If a player is injured in the warm up, he can be replaced on the team sheet. Team sheet can be submitted to the umpires at half time.

Dig a little deeper "Hats off to Roy Harper" and I think you will find that it may be true. (No need to swear now).
I could not give a stuff about players that have left your club. What has that got to do with anything I have said?
The player I've heard about has no ties with the club....
Why would you talk about players that have taken the so called "easy was out".
Its a new season players come and go..... Is this a touchy subject for you?

Why respond to a knob jockey newbie with zero posts like Mediocrity? Clearly has a hard on that Beauy beat an under strength tiges team, are you man enough to reveal your identity on this forum? Just another jerk who sits behind his keyboard with his one inch in his hand....There's a fair chance you won't win another game this year.

Thats a bit harsh GetOverIt are new people not allowed on this forum?
Remeber now thats what it is a "Forum". People do not generally reveal their identity. (You clearly take forums more seriously than you should, don't get your knickers in a twist).
I'm sorry i'm not as cool as you and dont have over 200 posts, but maybe I have better things to do.
I'm just happy that my side won and am already looking forward to the next time we meet at Mentone. Go Sharks!

Other than the ongoing mud slinging over Beauy and Bedes, does anyone have any comments to make on the other results. Its only 1 game I know, any "heads up" worth hearing???????

Tweaked hammy in virtually the last drill before the coin toss, not during a pre-game warm up well before match time. Tried to play but lasted 2 minutes before it went completely. While team sheets are given to umpires at half time the team managers exchange them 30 or so minutes before first bounce. In these circumstances a change would not have been allowed.

Mediocrity - Seriously it's round one, chill out for a bit it's a long year and coming on here bagging SBMT only makes you look like an arse, if they are struggling so be it, just be happy you smashed them on the weekend!

In other news OS had a good win over UB, anyone get a glimpse?
The Blacks and Bernies went down to the wire, maybe the Bernies are contenders for top 4?

Not sure about that. I would have thought that as long as the player hasn't taken the field yet, and the umpires dont yet have the final teams, you can change a player out in this example, and just notify the other team that there is a late change to the sheet you provided them, and what the change is.

Bernies had the game won... just got completely outworked in the last quarter. Credit to Uni.
Will only get better with houlihan to come back in but should not of lost that game.
Also, Broc Mcauley (or whatever) is NO good.

Went and had a look at this game and I must completely disagree with you Big Blue, Broc McCauley played a fantastic game down back for the blacks, winning the duel with Merrington comfortably. Then went up forward in the last quarter and kicked the sealer. For you guys Bentick was sensational, he will be a handful for all clubs this year. His strength around the contest was as good as I've seen at this level. St. Bernards look like they will be right in the mix come finals time.

Charlie Richardson will be a good inclusion whenever he comes back in.

Crowd still no better at the Snake Pit on Saturday. The Uni crowd would have been extremely happy with two wins out there. Was not terribly impressed to see reserves players sitting behind the goals at the far end blatantly disregarding the VAFA's alcohol policy.

"Darw"..........would you expect anything different?

I always hope that things have picked up out at Bernard's and someone (say for example Simon Madden who was there) takes a stand and says, "That's enough, we are better than this."

I always leave disappointed......

D, the problem with SM, is that he is probably no better than the "bone heads" behind the goals.
Why hasnt the club been put on report if what you say (and I dont doubt you) is true.......

I would assume that would be a matter for the VAFA to decide. The good thing about these faceless forums is that maybe someone reading from a club like Bernard's with a proud history could take some action before the VAFA needs to step in. It's something that would be very easy to stamp out before penalties are imposed on the club.

Anyway enough of that..............any gossip on Coll / Carey and Scotch / Xavs anyone???

Theres a reason why it was never reported.... because it didnt happen. If any Reserves player was found drinking during a game they wouldn't play another game for the club. Mike Fitzpatrick and numerous VAFA officials were there for a function. So maybe not sit behind a computer screen and take potshots and report it if you feel so strongly about it...
Also, just because supporters at the Snakepit are loyal and vocal doesnt make them 'boneheads'.

But its good to know that other teams are still scared of playing down at the Pit.....

McCauley is lazy and refused to play on a man, wont trouble any teams this year.

Easily won the duel with merrington? Brocky had a couple of grabs taken on him early then Merrington went off before Q time. McCauley then sulked and threw a couple of cheap shots. When another big bloke went forward he sent smaller defenders back instead of taking a hard job. Can you get traded from an ammos club?

In regards to supposed drinking and people behind the goals yelling and screaming and yawn yawn yawn yawn.... same old whinging with no substance.

Did Darwinderwin and Chris Griffin actualy see the same game?????????

Incorrect. I can assure you that a Premier section club has replaced a player already nominated on the teamsheet and exchanged by the team managers. Approved by the VAFA administration at the time as being in accordance with the rules. I ask you, what VAFA club would deny an opposition club the opportunity of replacing an injured player or players before the ball is bounced?

It certainly happened. I'm not saying that there (the drinkers) behavior was 'bad', but they were doing it. The southern end, not the northern. Unless of course it was the varsity players?

Nothing wrong with a vocal crowd.

And yes, if all teams are still 'scared' of playing at the Pit, then premiership points might just keep walking out the door. None from two is hardly intimidating. Playing a strong Old Scotch outfit this week and being zip and two after two rounds, now that's scary!

That is my understanding of the rules as well. I believe that it has had to happen (from pretty much the same scenario as outlined in the DLS game) on a number of occasions previously.

I’m obviously not communicating this well enough so will try again.

He twinged his hammy just before the toss and a minute or so before ball was bounced. Obviously (and incorrectly) thought it was nothing and remained on the field and PLAYED for a few minutes before doing it completely and coming off for the rest of the game.

Now I very much doubt that Xavs or any club for that matter would then allow DLS to grab a reserves player from the game just completed and put him on the team sheet in these circumstances. Xavs can quite rightly argue that if you take the field you are good to go. Think he might have had a possession to 2 by that stage anyway.

I hope that clears it up.

You are right in this instance and that does clear it up. If he actually takes the field (doesn't matter how short a period of time that is), then you're stuck.

Griffo, wasn't Broc training at the pit at some stage? I'm sure you would take him if he had a change of mind. According to Scatters on his great radio show last night you guys had it well and truly sown up when they had only kicked 3 goals late in the third quarter. How do you rate Blacks on the last q effort?
