Xavs wouldnt give D Lynch a game in the 1sts last year, to old. Heard they have been trying to lure him back. Not good enough last year, apparently good enough this year....Odd. Doesnt sound like a heap of talent "rolling in" if this is the case

I think Ambrose will find it hard to play when on an AFL list. Rookies not allowed. Apparently impressing out at the "Hanger" so dont be suprised to see him play senior footy this year. Wynne apparently injured leg down at tiger land.

Alot of Xavs chat. Probably due for some turnover. Wouldnt be discounting the kids coming through from the unders and 2's that have yet to be blooded due to depth.

The beach boys are currently doing some good work with some old veterans looking to pull the boot on again. P.Phelan tempted to come back after a couple of years up at corowa. One of the smoothest movers in the Ammo's on his day.

I noticed Jake Calvert was on the transfers a few days ago to St Bernards but has been denied. Incorrect paperwork or something more? would be an okay pick-up otherwise. I'm assuming its the Jake Calvert from Frankston (VFL).

This transfer should complete in about a week I believe. Yes, Calvert from Frankston.

Ambrose listed as a rookie = definitely NO VAFA games in 2014. VFL listing is different as they have 2nd club nominated and interchange back to VAFA club if not playing VFL.

Pat Ambrose only played 1st half of 2013 with Xavs I believe so had no influence in the premiership.

Let's move the focus from Xavs for a moment and look at last year's other grand finalist SBMT.

Cheltenham (SFL) busy during the pre-season. Have signed George Rowlands and look to have Brett Collins from SBMT, and after initial talk that Pat Nicholls was coming back to SBMT after playing at North Ballarat, Cheltenham have picked him up as well.

Add this to McGettigan off to Noble Park, and Shakaib apparently O/S for most or part of the season.

They do have James Tyquin back from the SFL however, as well as a never ending supply of U/19's, but depth has always been an issue down at Brindisi.

But if there is one thing we learnt last year, it is to never write them off! In round 5, nearly a third of the way through the year they sat in 9th! Really turned things around after that. As you mentioned Penski, they also did this without a great amount of depth.

Interesting analysis of the Footcray VFL draw and VAFA draw indicates Jones wil be available 13 of 17 rounds and VFL finals start on Premier round 18, so will be 14 games if Footscray does not make VFL finals.

Would have been a walk up start in any other team though as they were miles ahead of the rest. Xavs depth last year was unbelievable and they will be right amongst it at the sharp end again this season.

What the go with Goss? Have heard unconfirmed reports he will miss the early part the season. Is he traveling, injured or otherwise unavailable?
