SENIOR MENS COACHING ANNOUNCEMENTA little birdie told me that OT have sacked their coach and are now looking.
Unfortunately for OT, Bernie has signed on at Vermont for 2023.
SENIOR MENS COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT
Old Trinity Football Club wishes to advise all members, fans, sponsors and football universe of a change to the Men’s Senior Coach for the 2023 season.
After lots of consultation across playing group, leadership group & committee - we’re excited to announce Jamie Cassidy-McNamara has been appointed as Senior Coach at Coburg Football Club within the VFL.
As a club, we couldn’t be more delighted when our people achieve success. However, this does mean that once again we’re undertaking a change.
With change comes opportunity, and we’re also pleased to appoint Leo Garrick, as the new Senior Coach of @oldtrinityfc for 2023.
Leo comes from Warrandyte Football Club in the Eastern Football League as a highly regarded individual whose connection and care for his players is unparalleled.
Leo has been working with Jamie as our Senior Assistant for season 2023 for the last seven weeks, and has already met with many of our young talent.
We’re excited to welcome Leo to the OTGAFC family.
Jamie’s love for OTGAFC and desire to stay deeply connected and involved with the program has the club excited to announce that he will be moving into a strategic role as Director of Coaching at @oldtrinityfc Jamie will continue to provide support to Leo & his assistants, and ensure stability and continuity within the football program.
It’s a fantastic result that through Jamie and Leo’s collaboration, we can continue with the program that was seeing enormous steps forward, and in the wider clubs eyes… a program that is very close to bringing us imminent success.
With over 50 senior men attending regular strength & conditioning sessions during the off-season, we’re excited for the mens preseason to begin and build off foundations already laid.
More announcement’s of coaching appointments to come post our AGM this Wednesday 16th at the Veneto Club.
Not sure how many coaches would be keen to coach OT if this has happened. Any more details oldtimerHe’s now been sacked due to player revolt. Shortest coaching appointment ever
Players didn’t want a 21 year old who had only coached 1 year of 19s as their senior coach. A strange appointment from the beginningNot sure how many coaches would be keen to coach OT if this has happened. Any more details oldtimer
Agree, and the board should take a good look at themselves for making that appointment in the first place.Players didn’t want a 21 year old who had only coached 1 year of 19s as their senior coach. A strange appointment from the beginning
Well, it is interesting as their previous coach, who is now coaching Coburg in the VFL had never coached his own side before season 2022. Sure, he spent a long time at Collingwood, but he had never coached a side in his own right, let alone a senior side.Players didn’t want a 21 year old who had only coached 1 year of 19s as their senior coach. FWIW is the Vafa board now the Trinity Board?Players didn’t want a 21 year old who had only coached 1 year of 19s as their senior coach. A strange appointment from the beginning
The VFL is a Sh.t show now Mr Olotripo, a once great competition that was destroyed by the AFL. As for Trinity, it's been coming a long time, with no aftermatch, no dinners on a Thursday night for the players, and now old boy Mr Cutler has left Essendon and spurned their advances for Uni Blues.Well, it is interesting as their previous coach, who is now coaching Coburg in the VFL had never coached his own side before season 2022. Have to agree Mr Pt. The VFL is now a joke of a competition. A hybrid mix of underage, open age, interstate, AFL, and local clubs. The mediocre standard probably worked against “De La’s own” Ethan Phillip’s getting drafted. Although 1 game De La veteran Liam Reidy (a far inferior player to the General’s boy IMO) was picked up by the Dockers. The VFL is a Sh.t show now Mr Olotripo, a once great competition that was destroyed by the AFL. No aftermatch or Thursday dinners is a volunteer issue. As l have mentioned before the greatest threat to football clubs behind lack of umpires is the drop off in volunteers on training nights and match day.The VFL is a Sh.t show now Mr Olotripo, a once great competition that was destroyed by the AFL. Mr Easy didn't get a gig because he was playing 'B' Grade and good luck to Mr Reidy, that's one game more than Mr Easy has ever played for De La.Have to agree Mr Pt. I tried that but hard to find as most disappeared during Covid.Clubs may opt for food truck tenders if they can't get volunteers or paid workers for a canteen.
A club in one of the regional centres in WA puts a tender out for a food truck and ice cream truck each year which ensures revenue is earned with minimal effort. They gain an up-front payment for the truck's services prior to the first home game and the truck keeps whatever they earn.
No shocks there that Cutler would go to Uni Blues over Old Trinity. The VFL is a Sh.t show now Mr Olotripo, a once great competition that was destroyed by the AFL. Dylan spent a year or two at De La a while back as a senior assistant. I’m not close enough to the action to provide an appraisal but he then picked up the senior job at Mazenod. Unfortunately his tenure was scuttled by COVID.With Prem A fixture being released yesterday, one would hope the Prem B fixture isn’t far away with a April 15 kick off.
Any word on Trinity’s replacement for the young bloke who got moved out by the players?
I see also Monash being led by a new coach, Dylan Cousins. Have heard some decent feedback on him. Recently spent some time at DeLa.
Anyone with intel on St Bernard’s and how they are shaping up coming down from A? Or De La how are they looking?
From DLS Howie PerssonReturned to Ormond or from Ormond?
Had actually been told he had either retired or taking a year off due to injury so glad to see he is up and about (thought he was St Kilda City junior? Maybe went to the OJFC later on). From DLS Howie Persson
Correct with the first bit , not sure on the other one .Had actually been told he had either retired or taking a year off due to injury so glad to see he is up and about (thought he was St Kilda City junior? Maybe went to the OJFC later on).
Will be very handy in C grade if he can stay on the park. Have heard there is one coming back the other way.
Good luck to De La in ‘23, watched them late in the Season and they certainly put in, Uni Blacks were easily the best side in B Grade this year, although 2nd all season Beaumaris weren’t settled coming in to the Finals and when Haileybury got all their VFL players back no contest, does anyone think VAFA might go to one promotion/relegation per division a season one day ?Dylan spent a year or two at De La a while back as a senior assistant. Only news I can share from De La is that player retention is very strong and only notable loss is Hugh Nicholson who has retired. Despite earlier reports to the contrary the Williams boys Sam and Jake are going around again. They have picked up a few recruits but none that might be termed ‘marque’ at this stage. Understand a few others “on the hook” but competing with several other clubs.
A very young senior group that rattled home strongly last season is a year older and stronger so I expect they will go ok. A 3-6 finish is my genuine appraisal but IMO only a few good recruits from being a genuine contender.
Beaumaris look the team to beat. Despite a poor finals they were close to the best side in it for much of 2022 and have recruited extremely well. They will take some beating with St Bedes and St Bernards the next best.
Other forums are discussing about using the 2 up 2 down.Good luck to De La in ‘23, watched them late in the Season and they certainly put in, Uni Blacks were easily the best side in B Grade this year, although 2nd all season Beaumaris weren’t settled coming in to the Finals and when Haileybury got all their VFL players back no contest, does anyone think VAFA might go to one promotion/relegation per division a season one day ?
