Well in extremely difficult conditions at GlenHuntly with a howling wind favouring the Neerim rd end . Caulfield kicked with the wind and wasted opportunities with poor kicking. Mentone put in a spirited effort and stayed in touch in the first half but Caulfields third quarter with the wind again saw them with a comfortable lead at three quarter time.
Mentone started well in the last quarter kicking a couple of goals but couldn't get close enough to threaten.
Caulfields three big ins all contributed but tired in the second half having all missed between three and five weeks of game time respectively.
Finally a game with no new serious injuries for the fields.
Another three back after the break and then more the week after so gradually getting back to full strength.
Great position for the Club with so many players on the list having been given opportunities during the year.
Big game and test against the inform Marcellin at Marcellin this week who are playing for a finals berth .

Big game coming up with Marcellin playing for A chance to play finals

How long has Widjaja been playing 3s? He'd be handy to get back if committed. Looks like he's still fit enough.

Back playin this year with mates in the thirds...there's a few boys there that could still hold there own. Seniors have been bringing in youth and rewarding twos players with form to cover the outs, which sets a great example and strengthens culture.

It's a pretty good 3rds team. Ormond 2nds would be better playing in that division instead of where they are and our present 3rds in Prem C 3rds would go ok in Div 1 Reserves.

He's still a champ, but is only playing a few games. There has been a number of veterans helping out with the Dirty Thirds this year as a big bunch of kids at the club spend 5 weeks in Europe (Scruff speaks the truth). As they filter back in the veterans will step aside. We have been lucky to have the likes of Widjaja, Sinclair, Hammond etc help us out this season. Great Clubmen!

Never has an untruth past these lips!!!

Having confused myself in all the hype early in the week I am back on track and tuned in for Old Ivanhoe away...had the early trip to Bunnings for some kwikgrip to secure the mane in the predicted 100k winds. But to be honest I think a beanie or a turban might be the only answer today.

Now the footy.

In a big one Caulfield in a nail biter at Chelmsworth
Willy in a close one at wind world reserve.
Old Camberwell in the AGS Cup
Old Haileybury because they are good and Kew are not
Jascave will be torn when his favourite Marcellin (and my selection) take on the VaFA team of the century club in Hampton Rovers

Watch out for flying debris and the odd hair piece

Cheers

Round 14
Marcellin
Caulfield
Willy
Camberwell
Haileybury

Scruff I think you will need gaffer tap to keep the feathers in place..

Not looking forward to being down at the beach today,

Geelong far too good in the windy conditions, they play d the conditions far better than Williamstown.

Now leaves an interesting task to win all games and rely on other games to go in their favour

Interesting competition Prem C s turning out to be

Hi All, Does anybody know what happened with the Williamstown Verses Old Geelong Reserves match on Saturday? There is no result recorded on the VAFA website results page. The match is noted as final, and Old Geelong has a score listing of 1 point. The current website ladder suggest that the match was declared a draw, but no result is listed in the Match Centre area.

A Willy player sustain a neck injury early in the game, the game was stopped while waiting for the ambulance which seemed an eternity, game was called off when it was decided too much time had been lost, I understand it was declared a draw.

The young fella is okay.

Thanks for the info. Glad the young fella is okay. Would be helpful if the VAFA website had listed result as a draw & not just final. Don't like the new Results & Live Scores pages very much. Very difficult to know where in the match the scores relate to.

2411 Glad he is ok. If you remember we had a similar situation at Willy last year in the Seniors game it was delayed for well over half an hour. It's a parents worst nightmare watching and waiting for an ambulance. Fortunately again the kid was ok.

Little late to the party but a really competitive game at Princes Park in unbelievable conditions on Saturday. After two really poor performances the Bears were much better and have only poor kicking in the last quarter to blame for what could've been the upset of the year. Haileybury defended well in the last quarter though, and the game was played in great spirit without any sh1t banter and carry on from either side as we have seen against a few sides this year. Was good to get a couple of quality players back and hopefully after the bye we can finish off what has been a bitterly disappointing season, well.

Without looking at the fixture, Caulfield are obvious montys for top spot. OH should secure second. 3rd and 4th is out of OG, Marcellin and Willy. IMO Ivanhoe aren't quite as good as those 3. Relegation is just about a given for Hampton, unless they steal a win and then knock off OM in the last round.

Round 15
Haileybury
Geelong
Caulfield
Williamstown
Ivanhoe

Picking 4 away teams going against the odds.
If it goes this way Geelong a game clear in third with Marcellin, Willy and Ivanhoe scrapping for 4th

Good luck to all

So has anyone figured out this bloody division yet?

Team sheets say a more or less full strength OH got done by Hampton.

Ivanhoe can't beat an already relegated Kew. Well done to the Kew boys.

OG off the back of three straight wins got handled surprisingly comfortably by OC.

Stuffed if I can figure it out. Looking forward to the race to the finals in the next three weeks though

When #39 - R. Campbell plays for Old Camberwell, they usually win. May not make the best players that often anymore, but he's still a huge player for them - in more ways than one!

Now that the Rovers have thrown a spanner in the works by beating OH, who will join Kew down to Division 1 in 2018? Will it be out of the Rovers, Old Ivanhoe, or Old Camberwell for the final relegation spot by the end of Round 18?

Apologies for no report today gents

Missed game due to interstate commitment

Very surprised Caulfield won so easily away against the inform Marcellin ... but happy to take it.

Very confused about OH result.

Third and forth still up for grabs.

2411 I think you have an unassailable lead in the tips so well done.

Admire your optimism Jase but frankly with 3 games to go and Rovers being 2 games and % adrift of safety, it's highly likely to be determined prior to round 18, and it will be HR.

Twas a big day at the Bear Cave. Kicked off with France vs Nauru in the International Cup followed by a nail biter in the twos and a great game in the ones that was back and forth all day, neither team more than 2 goals or so up, until Kew lifted in the last quarter to kick 6 goals to 1. It was all the more special as club legend Chad Watts was chaired off after the senior win after playing his 250th (and subsequently last) game for the club after 19 seasons. Massive effort.

Round of upsets, too

Crazy. I really could not pick the grand final quinella from here. Caulfield, yes, but after that... who? And even with Caulfield, there are doubts over their September formline. Quite possibly could end with a ladder like this!!

1Caulfield Grammarians 18 15 3 0 0 158.46 60
2 Old Haileyburians 18 10 8 0 0 131.78 40

3 Marcellin OC 18 9 9 0 0 112.45 36
4 Old Geelong 18 9 9 0 0 108.20 36
5 Williamstown CYMS 18 9 9 0 0 108.13 36
6 Old Mentonians 18 9 9 0 0 97.52 36
7 Old Camberwell Grammarians 18 9 9 0 0 91.37 36
8 Old Ivanhoe Grammarians 18 9 9 0 0 88.41 36

9 Kew AFC 18 6 12 0 0 62.16 24
10 Hampton Rovers 18 5 13 0 0 69.29 20

No doubting Kew deserved their win. We had our chances early, but couldn't put them away.

Gotta love the passion shown at the Cave, but its not acceptable when a spectator tries to get into the opposition dug out and confront a player. Lucky our player was very restrained.

The Football Department at Kew may also need to understand the rules pertaining to a RED Card. An OI player was reported and subsequently replaced by a bench player, Kew coach and team officials were looking to have the game stopped and a count taken. They saw the light when they were told (yours truly), that the rule have been in place for a couple of years. The reasoning is that too many players who were reported were getting off the charge on a Tuesday but the team were down a player during the game. Point in case the OI's tribunal hearing was dismissed. Not the reason we lost.

You are the first person I have heard say that too many people get off at the tribunal. It's normally about 1 in 7 or 8 that manages this hiudini act.
Not good re happening in dug out.
