I don't see where Simmo has mentioned a setback? He said they're just trying to work out what level he can train at.
Have another read - clearly another setback.

The 2012 All Australian appeared on track for a return during the NAB Challenge, but Simpson said on Wednesday that has been put on hold due to another setback

Just found it strange that there's no direct quote.

Sharrod will bounce back fellas.

It's not a lack of heart, it's a lack of effort and focus. He just needed a reality check from Simmo and i think he got that last year. It's the final year of his contract and he knows a career as a hairdresser is what awaits him unless he sorts himself out in 2015
I think Simmo handled him well last year TBH. Told him to shape up, to work harder, and dropped him when he wasn't performing at the level required.

He obviously was showing enough, because at the end of the year Simmo stood up for Wellingham in the media when the pressure was on to cut our losses with him. I liked that personally- means that he has the support to prove his worth this year and beyond.

It seems to have had the desired result, he's fitter than this time last year and raring to go. Hopefully he can keep injury free this year and we get to see the best of him. Hes only 26, but it's hard to see him turning it around if he has another year like last year.

I watched his last game of the year for East Perth, when he got injured, it was one of the worst, most lazy performances I have seen from an AFL listed player, that should have been giving it everything to prove himself. At least guys like Masten and Co that got dropped to the WAFL, actually tried, and used to get massive numbers, even if it didn't translate directly into good AFL form.

Sharrod needs to pull his finger out, worry less about posting pics of himself relaxing on boats and shit on twitter and instagram, and worry more about actually doing what he's being paid for, which is play footy.

He has talent, no doubt, and it would be a massive shame if he can't show it in his final year of his contract, if ever he needed motivation to perform, let's hope the fear of being delisted at seasons end is enough.

Okay, he's not going to Port Headland so he can receive treatment. Sounds like that is a setback after all.
I'd exaggerate an injury to avoid going to port hedland too

Not such an issue for pre-season when we get extra players on the bench, and are more concerned about managing workloads.

Going into round 1 with all three would be a mistake. If McGovern and Darling are both unavailable you could make an argument for playing Sinclair as a key forward, but that didn't go so well against Brisbane last year and I'd prefer to see McInnes given a shot.

I've pretty much written Beau off of considerations. Does anyone legitimately expect him to factor into our future success?

It's a shame, but he's cooked imo.
Unfortunately no. Shoulder rat shit..... missed a lot of footy, and has heart, but like McGinnity, don't have the skills. I can't see him getting back.
Backline coach, would be smart enough and tough on the players. Would drop players who don't give a third and fouth effort in a contest.

Me too. Time for McInnes to be given an opportunity to show something.
Remember him taking some contested marks in the wet against Sydney in a nab cup game last year thinking he could have an impact at some stage. From what others have posted he looks to have improved this pre season. Hope he plays consistently enough at EP to demand his first game at some point this season, see what the kid can do!

Effort and heart are pretty closely related. He also got 3 reality checks.

But yeh im betting that knowing he needs to pull something out for another contract will be what he needs to motivate himself. 1 year contracts from here on.

Normally i'd agree with you. However i'll ask you to take a look at these in regards to heart

Ever see Masten do anything like this? I'll point out Mastens effort vs adelaide under that high ball last year as an example in fact.

Watching these makes me think when he wants to Wellingham can play with heart, i just think getting him to that point is the mission.
