Hey thanks for the detailed reply.

How's your health man?

So far so good. Surgery went perfectly and was home by the next day. Surgeons noted that it [the gallbladder] came out in tact and visible inspection of the exterior appeared normal, which is a good sign. Incisions are healing quickly and am already getting frustrated that I'm not meant to be doing anything. Received the all-clear today that I can get back on the stationary bike now at least.

The wait on results from biopsy will still be another 2-3 weeks.

Stringers probably the worst kind of frustrating- able to turn a match on its head and be a genuine match winner, then not bother to show up for weeks and be a liability in others.

Has more talent than most, yet never developed into the player he looked like being when the doggies won the flag in 2016.Outside of the spotlight I can see GWS getting a year or 2 out of him with some decent footy, but he’s probably really only a soft injury away from the end.

In saying that, I am curious to see how Essendon goes without him as I feel they will struggle to replace his goals and midfield minutes.

Sounds like things have gone as well as could be expected.

I'm sure the biopsy results will as well. 👍

But he kicked 42 goals

Only finished 9th in their B&F despite playing every game (one of only 7 to do so and just 12 played 20 or more games)

So he finished higher in their B&F than Tim Kelly did in ours?

Ok cool, cheers for that tidbit.

Not on a votes per game basis

Like I said, you’d be first in line to hang shit on Stringer if he was here. He’s a walking catalogue of all the things you dislike

Another bonus for Jakey, got good durability. Able to play 23 games a year, what a stud. Good call ✅ not sure why you'd spin that as a negative.

Dunno, he's 31 in April and wanted a multi year deal. Essendon rightly baulked at it and as a mercenary he played hard ball, which is fair enough. Don't think there's anything untoward there?

Blokes a dickhead but i can't recall too many off field crazy shenanigans he's had recently, unless I've missed something?

Still kicked 42 goals and was pipped only by Langford's 1 extra major (43) or he'd be their clubs leading goal kicker again.

Throwaway pick in the 50's from GWS for that is chump change.

J.Stringer is Plutonium.

He's about the last person you would want around a club. Arrogant, lazy, inconsistent, selfish, impulsive, opinionated and divisive.

This time last year, he was in arguably the best shape of his life entering a contract year. At the close of the season he was 16kgs heavier - the man has no professionalism within him whatsoever. Now with the cushion of a two-year contract, he turns up at GWS looking more like a pudding than a footballer.

Had an affair with a schoolgirl whilst his fiancé was pregnant and ran up six-figure gambling debts.

Becomes a joke among the new club draftees that he is running "an importation business".

Brings murderers to club functions.

Just the role-model you want for developing talent.

You know things must be bad when even Collingwood get scared off.

GWS may have been able to turn J.Hogan around, but I suspect they could be biting off more than they can chew with Stringer.

After their mad Monday shenanigans, perhaps they don't care, or could do with a distraction... Certainly is a very big risk that they are taking on here in my opinion.

Additional fact - the pick used by GWS to trade for Stringer ended up at West Coast (after passing through Brisbane) for the selection of L.Grego.

Out of all the fringe players on our list, I think Petch is the most likely to find a new lease on his football life under McQualter

I won’t be at all surprised if he thrives under the new coach and possibly in a different role
I'm optimistic as well. Richmond had Constagna who had poor skills but ran all day to put pressure on, Petch would be an upgrade on that.

I get all that, but Petrucelle is shit.

I know what you mean by ‘fringe’ but it infers a handful of senior games. It says something about him if he hasn’t cemented a spot after that many opportunities.
But as you suggest maybe a new spot will open up in a new faster game plan. If not Petro is surely done.

Stringer is the most toxic player on an AFL list. I don’t want to see the Bombers bounce but it wouldn’t surprise me after trimming that fat.

I remember being surprised during the fallout with the doggies after 2016 and his AA year and I thought he could have been anything… but the gambling… culture killer..

This is going to be Petch’s year!

I was thinking the Petrucelle selection was still a tick, given 100+ games from a pick 38 is still a pass.. but then I notice he's still only played the 88 games.

Now I'm not so sure. Probably just wasted a list spot for 8 years tbh. Can't see him playing a big part in our team moving forward, but who knows.

It's debatable he makes 100. Surprising, feels like he's been around forever, but I spose when you're constantly injured or in/out of the side it's a slow build.

We’ve got to be smart and play the long game. Get him those 12 games and bank first dibs on his future sons.

There's 'playing' 23 games a year, and there's saying "Here!" when your name is called out for attendance.

Stringer is the latter.

Pfftt. Big whoop.

Benny was mates with that underground bloke John Kizon and Angelo Venditti, yet people to this day still want to jump on his shaft.

Myself included.
Can you even call yourself a footballer if you haven't been in the basement of metro while Johnny Kizon and his mates shoot someone?
