'Questions that don't warrant a thread' Thread - Part 2

Not particularly a question but felt like this general thread would be sufficient for what I'm about to write. I heard this a little while back and was wondering if anyone had heard the same/similar. I'm aware that during the off-season things get a bit 'out there' and i know i know, mate's sister's partner's aunty is the guy's hairdresser etc but what I've been told certainly seems plausible.

A new member of the Brisbane Lions that got traded from Geelong (small fwd/mid) had either been given his marching orders/coerced into leaving because he'd been caught with a partner of a KPP team-mate. This team-mate was linked to the Western Bulldogs briefly but strongly prior to McCartney's departure.

Similarly, a former Melbourne player who was traded to Geelong during this most recent trade period in a relatively unusual circumstance insisted on the Cats as his new wife is currently/about to (not too sure which) go to Deakin University. His illness was caused by being caught in a similar circumstance to the above (repeatedly) which caused a breakdown of sorts.

I thought Christensen cheated on his partner, got another girl pregnant and then didn't want to have anything to do with her, resulting in a fair bit of abuse from her family.

Didn't realise it was a team member and that doesn't really then add up.

So, is Lonergan's missus going to have the baby?

Christensen left mainly due to outstanding gambling debts and issues with his gambling habit. He believe a change of scenery will help with this (not sure if this will actually work but hey good luck to him). He was upfront straight away with the Brissy coaching staff about his gambling addiction. This is the main reason why he wanted to leave Geelong. Source, from a member of the coaching staff.

I questioned them about the rumours of other things, he said there are a couple of other minor things but nothing serious or too bad. The worry was the gambling, I don't think he got a girl pregnant, I have an inkling the Lonergan rumour may be true by things he said but I think the pregnancy one was just added mayo from people that got legs.

He did say that the gambling is his only issue he has to deal with.

It all sounds very post-modern psychology.

Knocks up teammates missus... must be because of frustrations based in a gambling addiction.

Moving to Brisbane to escape gambling addiction? Is he going to shack up with Lara Bingle too?

So he has a gambling addiction and decides it would be best to move from a city without a casino to a city with a casino? Good luck to him.

I know it's a little silly, but surely people can understand how someone can see a change of location, scenery and company etc as a way of changing their lives and their issues??

People deal with issues all sorts of ways, he wasn't happy where he was and how things were going. He wanted out and thought a change would do him some good, as well as having a network of people up in Queensland who he could be around to help with things.

Also casino betting isn't his issue. Horses/dogs betting is everywhere and anywhere.

Yeah I know, was just pointing out the obvious irony. Hopefully he can get his life back on track. Incidentally didn't Fevola also move to Brisbane to escape gambling issues (among his various other issues)?

Not enough to go white-anting your mates.

Last I checked, it takes 2 to tango....Any wife/girl-friend who cheats on their partner with a team-mate is every bit as complicit in my books....This 'boys-club' nonsense of putting all the blame on the bloke is complete bull-shit & smacks of double standards so far as our 'democracy of equality ethos' is concerned....Women have as much free-will as men do!

Have to agree with you P35. In many instances the initial move is made by the female, married or not. I know, I'm speaking from experience.

I think you are reading a little too much into my post.

FWIW, I happen to agree with your point.
