Did I miss something . Why was R.Shaw up for trade, I dont get it. He has been injured for most of the season , he has been in and out of the side cos of form. Am i the only one that believes that when he is in the side and fully fit with his runs out of D50 we are a better outfit.

He isn't in our best 22, and as such the club thought he is expendable for the right price.

Reportedly the Lions were happy to give up the right price in trade, but not in salary to Rhyce as he wanted more money. North Melbourne and Carlton reportedly baulked. So he stays.

Surely when fully fit he is in front of M.Clarke , Cook, Dick, Egan, Iles, Lonie, Stanley, Tooves at this stage .In 12 months it might be diff but right now he gets a game in front of them.

The only player you mentioned that gets a game is Clarke and i think Clarke is in out best 22.

i think he will struggle ofr a place going forward, just not hard enough compared ot what is required. That is why no one would take him with his two year contract.

someone told me that it was mentioned on 3aw that he wanted 200000 next year which the club thought too much because the pay structure calculated for him takes into account his peformance last year

I don't reckon $200k is that big an ask for Rhyce Shaw... Average wage for an average player. I thought he'd already be on that but $200k yeah I'd give him another 2 on that and see what happens.

Nah, I believe he's on about 200k, but he wanted 300k if he moved to Brisbane, which the Bears balked at.

Rhyce is something that's been a rarity at Collingwood in recent times - A good, quality player that ISN'T in our best 22.

The report I heard was that he wanted $1,000,000 over three years to go to Brisbane. I doubt that's true, but if it was no wonder they knocked him back! :p

I got a good feeling he will force his way back into best 22 though... if he gets into his early 2005 form, his best challenges Heater's best...

Goldsack's emergence made it hard for him though but I reckon if he stays fit and well he will force his way back, far better chance of it than Lonie IMO.

Pfft yeah, that's a bit rich.

Seems to be lots of stories flying around... I'd give him $250k next year, $275k after that and he what he produces out of it. Wouldn't give him 3.

That's more than enough time to see if he can get back to some good form because he isn't a developing player anymore.

I think you are spot on there Sirlothie...I think R. Shaw will get back to his pre-knee form and find a spot in the 22...even if he does not he will force whoever keeps him out to find the improvement to keep him out.
