So much to say about this game but hey, it was round 1, important thing it to walk away with the four points, which we did.
Great to see us have the fitness in the last quarter with 90 interchanges only vs the Cows he struggled on Etihad in last quarter, bring on the showdown;)

Crows are already playing a tall short and bonked in the last against North. Whilst I want to see Dougal this year, this is a game where we are probably going to have heart atyackd for three quarters again trying to hold them, before running them off their feet. Hoff was one of the top distance coverers today, they'd be insane to leave a small on him.

A small for a small and we still have enough quality tall forwards, plus Hombsch (yeah I'm saying step up Trengove and especially Carlile) to do the job, whilst running them into the ground.

I tend to agree mate. Maybe even young for some mid grunt to allow Robbie gray more time up forward

Can I just say that if ever Telstra or the AFL offer Livepass for free, knock it back. It ain't worth it, I spent all game trying to sort players by blocky beard textures and non-blocky beard textures, and the Peter Burgoyne shaped Wingard head
I've had nothing but a brilliant experience with the AFL live pass.

It has such a bad rep, though.

If it's blurry, the problem is on your end with your internet speed.

Gee what a contrast the first 2 @half quarters to the last 1@1/2. Getting belted in the middle and contested balls , them running the ball into the goalsquare with no defender to be seen , Ebert's continued shocking desposal skills , Bobby's lack of pace and so forth , but to our teams/coaches credit we came back 2014 like and left no doubt about it !. For me Pittard and Hombsch did well ,

On own up. Who lost their shit the worst in the game day thread?

I called carlile obese and accused him of not hitting targets because his fat was impeding his vision

Happy with the result. Our fitness looks good - the Saints were gassed by 3/4 time.

But our systems look poor. Our stoppage set-up is "Everyone go for the ball". There is no intelligence in the way we played. We punched when we should have marked or palmed the ball down. Lobbe seriously has no rucking nous. And if Bassett's key defensive strategy is to flood the half back line and neglect the full-back line we are going to get seriously scored against.

But our mids look in good touch. Ebert is always good early in a season. Gray and Wingard are lethal up forward. Pittard owned the backline and only made a single clanger. Dixon is a mountain. Hombsch, Trengove and Carlile looked solid. Polec showed how much we missed him last year.

We can take Adelaide easily, if only we play conventional defense and fix our stoppage and clearance work.

All in all wrapt with the win. We had some major structure and skill errors for a half and a bit and gave St.Kilda hope up when they got 21 points up and then we fixed that and coasted and being realistic should've won by more. But we could've been further behind at that point also but it is round 1 we got a comfortable win eventually and I'd rather sit after a week 1-0 with a win and things to work on then think we are invincible or 0-1 and credit to St.Kilda for the pressure they bought their heading in the right direction.

As for our individual players thought Robbie Gray and Wingard kept us in it for a while before others woke up later. Chad's toughness and tackling was a huge addition to his game and great to see. Robbie is a star, he's top 5 in the comp easily if not top 3 we are lucky to have him.

Charlie when he settled into the game later and settled down in general showed a lot and now Westhoff is a amazing weapon and credit to the Hoff for how he played all day, Dixon being there let him loose and opposition sides will have a fit over Westy all season.

But 2 players I'd like to make special mention of were Jasper and Lobbe. Jasper was arguably our best player bar Robbie and bar a early turnover he looks ready to take the next step and couldn't be happier for him as I feel he is unfairly targeted at times by all of us. Lobbe impressed me doing what he does and some of his tap work was a lot better in general. He contested well and sorry Leigh Matthews Lobbe did what he has to and held his own against Hickey who threatened to win the game but Lobbe wore him down. That's all Lobbe has to do for me and he did it today.

For negatives the goals over the top of our press are a huge concern but half of them were from our poor skills but we fixed that late and ran away. Our midfield/stoppage work needs a lot of work but that will come as Ollie and Trav won't be as bad in a 6 goal win ever again.

All in all take the win and move onto the filth

-kudos to whichever coach fixed our structures. Could clearly see the 4 blokes lined up on the wing to stop rebound and overflow
-ebo wanted to shoot him numerous times but chimed in with crucial goals gut running and marks that disposal efficiency pittard mk2
-speaking of pittard great intercept rebound game
-hombsch neade dont need a lot of touches butbplayed their roles very well
-robbie gray & chad wingard nothing else to say
-good to see lobbe up on his tackle numbers
-ah chee dissapointing big last quart
- schulz will be so much happier he has a natural forward to partner instead of a ruck/fwd
-dixon i cant even...

Great review mate. Can you elaborate on the change to the defensive press structure. Did we move the line back?

Gray spent far too much time forward in the first three quarters. Turned the game because he was moved into midfield more after half time.

That was like a glassy-eyed, smacked out Mila Kunis* giving you the worst table striptease ever at 108, not even showing her ****, before taking you for a dodgy private lapdance behind the black velvet curtain and f@%king your brains out...

*Ryan Gosling for the ladies.

you should write for afl.com, but you mind need to add something about sliding doors

umpires need to get holding the ball and deliberate out of bounds calls into something resembling consistent. At the moment it's a mess. Players dropping the ball in the tackle and not disposing of it when they are tackled not being called once is a mistake. Missing it over a dozen times in a game means there is an issue.

Afl players association also needs to pull up the afl and ask them to explain how it is ok for wingard to be clothes lined , held in a headlock while he appeals for the free , and another player is allowed to spear tackle him while this is happening. If he had been injured in that the afl would have been liable to be sued into the next century. Was totally avoidable. Wines and jonas should have been allowed to replicate it on the umpire in the carpark for that despicable ****-up.

Nah bullshit mate, I have 100/40 NBN FTTH. Can play several simultaneous 4K streams at the same time without a hitch, it can definitely handle one 720p stream.
