Old school BigFooty NMFC board guy.
We did 'battle raps' back in the early 2000s.

I'm not even sure who is still around from back then. Maybe just The Filth Wizard?
We had the odd beer together The Filth Wizard, MISS Kate and the crazy Q, along with a few others that have untethered their BF ships to sail off elsewhere. Twinkletoes was always out and about, the girl Kangalicious and both Mr and Miss Reliable. Of course The Other Dean was always up to something … 🤔😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤩❤️

He's not talking about ISIS, its a different organisation, an Al CIAda affiliate.

He certainly didn't rule it out tho. Its clear that if it wasn't a Shia organisation in a decades long conflict with Israel then they would give them humanitarian help.

Val, the Western Media is biased against Palestinians. The NYT often has one sided reporting and frames it in ways that mininmise genocide, which is exactly what is being perpetrated by Israel. Netanyahu and co should be in the Hague alongside Putin, Bush, Cheney, Howard, Blair, Assad and others.

But I am not going to replace biased Western media with the shit you read. Most of it is Putin adjacent if not outright paid for by the Kremlin, like Pool, Rubin and Johnson.

So we're saying that it's a bad thing for armies to treat the wounded enemy soldiers?!

I'm just checking that's what your position here is Val...

Mate it's very clear you didn't watch the video before posting it, you only saw the caption and that was enough for you to believe it. Just cop it, admit it was BS, and move on. I'd respect that a hell of a lot more than trying to dig deeper...
Are they soldiers or terrorists?

Where does that leave Hamas and Hezbollah?

Val is a lost cause.

This has been explained to him multiple times but he still chooses to believe that Israel helps/supports/arms ISIS and Al Qaeda.

He eats up all anti-semitic disinformation he can get his hands on.
The people who say israel hasn't armed ISIS and Al Ciada are the same people who say Israel doesn't bomb hospitals or shoot children with drones.

Why should we believe them?

Yeah I know. Don’t know why he wrote Isis when Al Quada is just as bad.

Pretty sure I've said before on here, there is a difference between saying that an event was provoked and that it is justified. I am against the war and have been hoping that they sue for long lasting peace for quite some time.
If you convince some guy to fight a war you provoke with bikies that live next door to him then while they're distracted fighting him you move in on their territory and start dealing meth where they are unable to cos of the fight with their neighbour, that doesn't make you or the bikies good guys.

Assal Rad is none of those things and neither is Abby Martin. I get almost all my information them.

Really you should be reading both.

Or better yet neither.

Information literacy is a vital skill. Every bit of information we consume we should be asking some key questions.

To say all western media is biased is wrong. Some is more biased than others. In some cases, media should not be seeking neutrality (e.g. what Israel is doing is inhuman).

Even with the Kremlin stuff, some of the information is factual. But it's the way it's framed, what is left out etc that must be considered.

For example...that War Monitor tweet that Bojan brought in. The info about the genocide was largely factual. But look at his replies. Base level anti-semitism. Little mention of Ukraine. Thinks Putin, is controlled by Jews. It's a far right nationalist account. Doesn't legitimise the factual points it makes, but **** me if I'd rely on that for source of analysis.

lol nice work genius.

I responded to you sooking that I "didn't read your article", and when I point out that you didn't watch my video and I linked it before you linked the article, you respond with abuse.

Now who is having the tantrum?! Hahaha
So months after i asked you to watch a More Perfect Union (they're a pack of lefty socialists btw, tho I'm sure you already knew that) video and you responded with wtte of "I'm not watching your cooker MAGA bullshit" you now think I "need" to watch some video about some w***er who I don't care about and the only posts I actually made about this guy were to point out that hassling him for being an ex junkie is low and that claiming he caused a bunch of deaths he didn't cause is also low. Because its only fair that I watch whatever crap you provide about stuff I don't care about.

You read that article and never acknowledged the fact that you were wrong to blame those Samoan deaths directly on RFK Jr.

But you did call me an anti vaxxer for pointing out the drop in vaccination rates in Samoa was because of a failure of the Samoan government not RFK Jr.

You do this stuff and then wonder why people have contempt for you.

Okay fair enough.

Also ... one thing about this is when people look for sources during an online discussion shitfight they often google and use whatever sources come up without being aware of their history or provenance to support their argument.

I agree that this is a part of information literacy tho. But there are no courses for this stuff for people who grew up after social media. Its not something most people understand or have experience with. And people are always battling (and mostly losing to) confirmation bias.

True.

But I don't think this is a relativist proposition. THere are some things that are true, and there is some media better than others.

I’ve asked you this before but you didn’t answer.

Where do you get your news from?

My self-awareness is just fine. Need I remind you that I said multiple times I like/used to like IT? Just because someone's a conspiracy theorist doesn't mean I automatically don't like them.

Yeah, Killer Mike has some conspiracy tendencies. No where near the level of IT though, who is like the final boss of conspiracy theory MCs. But in both punk and hip-hop that I grew up on, a natural distrust of government would often stray well into "conspiracy theory" territory. Acknowleding that there's conspiracy theories in the music doesn't automatically mean I don't like the music, and I never said as such. You're the one who kept trying to push that narrative because you jumped to that conclusion, not me.

You're a conspiracy theorist and you got your feelings hurt when you saw me use the term, because your default position is to disagree with whatever I say no matter what.

You use the term conspiracy theorist the way middle ages dogmatic inquisitors use the term heretic. You call me a conspiracy theorist. Why not just quote me making conspiratorial posts and debunk them using facts. Surely you're capable of that...

"Gee, why won't Chad debate the issues with me? Respond to me point by point!"

Cool, you've called me far worse things :)

You call other people racist. You've said Val eats up racist information this morning.

After all anti semitism is just a fancy name for racism against a particular group of people. Its not actually worse, or even different, from ordinary garden variety racism.

Then you use racist tropes and racist terms. And then sook about being called out for it. In fact when I pointed out that the only time I ever copped a hoimophobic slur on BF in the nearly decade I've been here was months earlier on the Ukraine thread by people who support Ukraine your response was wtte of "so what you called me racist."

And again, you do this shit blah blah blah.

Your opposition to homophobia, racism and probably even transphobia seems performative not genuine.

Oh my god he did it again hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

So you expect other people to defer to your definitions of anti Jewish racism but won't accept black US academics opinions on your own behaviour.

I dunno if you exhibit Chadpocracy or Chadceptionalism. Maybe its both.

Could be.

But also alligns with the shit Putin house pet Snowden was pushing.
I think the whole concept of manipulating the algorithm to get views and start trending is an issue for the flow of accurate information on social media.

I’ve asked you this before but you didn’t answer.

Where do you get your news from?
Lots of places.

Luckily Im ok with the economic stuff, so I can go to official figures for that.

I find statutory, non commercial sources like the ABC/PBS/NRP are best. BBC less so. But even then, they trend towards being stenographers rather than truly holding the powerful to account. Long form journalism from 4 Corners, even the Saturday paper is the best in Australia. Cameron Wilson and Ronnie Salt are great on domestic issues. Ken Klippenstein and the Intercept cover the US well. Mehdi assan is usually a good aggregator for US politics and the middle East. Louise Milligan is fantastic. I read a lot of Gore Vidal when I was younger. I still love Christopher Hitchens.

But I still need to read news corp, RT, Fox News to truly have an understanding of what is going on. There is some good stuff coming of the NYT.

But we've all got FT jobs. With the amount of dis info and complexity out there, can any of us claim to fully informed? I know Im not.

Yep. I think FB, insta is about profit.

I think for Musk, he's got an ideological bent. It seems the more racist your, the more your numbers get boosted.
