If you bet $1 on any Melbourne FC game on the 'outsider' (as quoted by footywire in their betting section) in the last few years, the returns are;

2015 - $28.55 (from $22 total bet)
2016 - $31.70 (from $22 total bet)
2017 - $16.60* (from $9 total bet thus far)

Saw this band Skunkhour some 20+ years ago in a suburban nightclub in Southern Sydney, still one of the best live shows I have ever been to. Looking forward to see them again this Saturday night!

Extremely upsetting and sad news coming out of Manchester bombing.
I would be expecting a massive increase to security at this weeks games .

Horrible sad news.
And what a gutless low act to attack an Ariana Grande concert.
99% of the crowd would've been young girls.

Its always important to shut the gate after the sheep get out. Then leave it open again in a few years time.

But yeah, a horrible thing. I'm sick of the scum on this planet that do this kind of thing.

These fundamental terrouurists are a ****ing virus, a plague on everyone on the planet. I can't believe that in this advanced technological age that they can't be eradicated. I suppose their great strength is their diversity and spread, like cancer in fact.

I am a pacifist in general and what a lot of you might call 'a bleeding heart' but maybe it's time to find some generally unethical but short sharp solution to stop it. Only problem is that it does play into the hands of their end game, in terms of allowing them victim status and feeding their us V them philosophy which has them eradicating us.

Btw, for clarification and not wishing to enter further debate on the following, i don't mean Mouslijms.i mean isjlamiuc terororists using the religion as a disguise/shield.

(I deliberately spelt certain words badly to avoid search engine detection, i don't know if it will be effective or not, or if I'm just being paranoid...

Hold on guys someone's knocking on my door.)

Also: this is not hate talking. I have no more hate for them than i do for the debris bunging up the plughole in my sink, or the insects in my kitchen. At some stage we just need to protect our environment. Can't have kids being targeted and killed like this.

Smoke these terrorist rat f#@kers out of their holes. Hit their money and shelter , punish the governments that harbor both.

Unfortunately the end game is blurred because western arms manufacturers stand to make billions from prolonged conflict.

Here we have Trump ducking up to the Saudis - the change in his rhetoric - and stitching up a multi billion dollar arms contract. This despite the Saudis following Wahabism which is the most extreme sect of Islam which states that all Christians should be exterminated... the same country that funds mosques and schools around the globe that preaches this doctrine... of which text books can be found in schools and libraries.

So riddle me this Batman: how do you stop terrorism when you turn a blind to one of the most extremist dictatorship because we need their oil?

The rise of ISIS is due on no small part to the mess we left in Iraq... once again for cheap oil.

As we sow, we reap unfortunately.

The issue is one of several problems.

The first part is the marginalisation of youth and it leading towards extremism of all sorts. This can be seen even at a more personal level with increase of crime levels as career and life opportunities become scarcer and scarcer. It can be frighteningly easy to bring disenfranchised people under your banner with promises of glory and everlasting life beyond death if you follow their words. Why shouldn't other people suffer if you yourself have know no better?

On a local level we certainly can and should be doing more to prevent this kind of thing, but overseas it is incredibly hard particularly when the west continues to involve itself in the conflicts where this kind of stuff brews. There's just too much money for rich white men to make to not keep their noses out of things that shouldn't involve them, or are too heavy handed in regards to dealing with issues that need to be challenged and the collateral damage is both unacceptable and ignored at the same time.

Islam seems to be a religion much more focused on its own rhetoric then christianity currently is. Part of this might be it's reasonably younger nature then Christianity and which has yet to then introduce the proper discussion and discourse that allows less stringent ideals being more mainstream. I think this might be a more natural progression that just takes time, remember that the inquisition was still rampant only three centuries ago and equally as terrible as fundamentalist abusers of islam. Hell, look at the rise of extremist sects of the russian orthodox church which are equally as scary.

The other thing is that.. well in the west we statistically just dont really experience much violence at the result of terrorism. Youre a hundred times more likely to get run over by Luke Hodge tommorrow then blown up in an attack. I guess the "terror" part is really the primary thing. It is a horrid and tragic thing but we also cant let it dominate our life to an unreasonable level.

At the end of the day it's the Saudis who spread the fundamental Wahhabi religion around and they are the ones who seem to be responsible for most of the attacks. We seem to unfortunately need their oil so I can't see it changing. Religious people who don't want anything but to force their ideology on others are a frightening prospect because they can't be reasoned with like a political dissident group. The extremists will end up making it impossible for the religious people who aren't extreme in their beliefs. I can see it turning into a round up of moderates

ISIS is made up of Sunni who have pretty much spat the dummy over Shia majority in Iraq.

Sadam kept them all in check. But what did we do? Not only did we invade them for no reason, but the yanks dismantled their army and police force... creating the vacuum for nut jobs to fill.

Hence Iran being against them, and the Saudis using it as an excuse to nullify Iranian influence in the region.

So you basically have a factional conflict, much like the Catholic / protestant conflict.

Add to this the exploitation of terrorism fear by governments to further their own agenda, and you get nowhere.

The whole war on terrorism is a myth and one that will never be won. It is an excuse for the powerful to further entrench their power and strip away our rights by keeping us in fear.

Ever wonder why it took so long to catch Bin Laden?

ISIS is made up by morons who find it easier to believe some bullshit.
They are chasing a goal which will not cause anyone involved to be better off , believing it will help them in the next life.
Dumb bastards all of them. What is their goal? How do they think they can achieve it?
What can they possibly hope to achieve.
Saddam was a prize campaigner. The enemy of shitheads can still be a shithead. Yes he repressed them but long term it doesn't help things. Him and his brother also found lots of innocents to use as personal playtoys.

Are you suggesting putting another Sadistic dictator there to keep the nutjobs in check?

Not at all, just explaining how things happened.

We should never have gone in the first instance.

The West happily funded Bin Laden to fight the Russians... they happily armed Saddam to fight the Iranians.

All I'm saying is to look deeper into the root cause than the simplistic view pushed out by politicians and the msm.

The hypocrisy lies in the fact that we do nothing to help the oppressed in other countries which strangely enough don't have oil.

Fmd, we even shafted the East Timorese.

Ask yourself this... if there was no oil, would the West give a shit about the Middle East?

I'm not justifying the violence in any way.

But when you have Nations such as the UK and USA supporting a corrupt regime of self anointed royals, who make billions from oil, whilst using a fundamental religion to protect their power and oppress the population... somebody is going to retaliate... or in this case, give a reason d'etre for the nut jobs to recruit gullible yet disenfranchised kids to their cause.

Yeah the Saudi's are rich enough to be dangerous.
They are moderate enough to be perceived as "allies".

I'd think that most "royals" are self anointed at some point.

The USA have military presence in a large number of poor Central African countries, but largely as part of the UN. Still i don't think it would be out of the question that they'd jump in if something went wrong in , for example, Kenya.

I agree there are plenty of crappy government's there that should be overthrown as much as Saddam should have, but i guess they don't have weapons of mass destruction lol.

Yeah up to our necks in it was a great song of theirs. Love that he kept his Aussie accent. Was rare at the time.

"The Middle East is a disgwace. I bwame Wicho and his pwayers"

19 of the 22 9/11 terrorists were Saudi's.

Trump just sold them $100 billion in arms.

Realpolitic in action.
Everyone lost out by Chrump becoming president, including his supporters. The rest of the world gets an inexperienced imbecile at the head of the most powerful country in the world and his supporters get a neutered dog who was far more effective for them as a dissonant voice rather than the head of the establishment.

Careful what you wish for!
