Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Happy with this side - any tips would be great. I have only 1 rookie (Swallow) starting out of my mids, ruck and forwards. Backs a little weak and will look to prop up during the season.

Backs: Goodard, Lake, Gibbs, R Shaw, N Krakouer, A Ottens, D Heppell
emg: Toy, Duigan, Faulks

Mids: Swan, Montagna, Cooney, Cotchin, S Hill, D Swallow
emg: Gaff, Atley, Wallis

Rucks: Sandi & Jolly
emg: Charman, Cordy

Forwards: Riewoldt, Pavlich, Sylvia, Higgins, Zaka, A Krakouer, Petrie
emg: Richardson. Mzungu, I Smith

I'd try it with one more mid rookie (for Hill or Cotchin) and with the spare cash see what you can do about your 4th defender and 3rd forward. I think it's a bit unbalanced as it is.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

G'day, would appreciate some advice on the following. Please note this is my first crack at this. Be as harsh as possible I need feedback, I've been staring at the team for too long!:

Backs
Goddard, Deledio, Gibbs, Broughton, Otten, Heppell, Coad
(Talia, Puopolo, Duigan)

Mids
Swan, A.Swallow, Watson, Palmer, Conca, Harris
(Lock, Atley, Wallis)

Rucks
Sandilands, Leuenberger
(Hale, Z.Smith)

Forwards
N. Riewoldt, Franklin, Didak, Pavlich, Sylvia, A.Krakouer, Callinan
(C.Richardson, Mzungu, Matera)

Bank: $143,400

As you can see, I've gone with a predominately gun-rookie mix with only two real "mid-priced" value picks in Palmer and A.Krak.

Obviously the rookies are contingent on their likelihood of getting early games based upon NaB Cup, but I'm pretty happy with my "keepers".

Still not sold on Didak though ...

I'm still not sold Lake given his limited pre-season. May be one to use as a target to bring in later in the season.

Backs: solid, though I've had Hargrave before and is a frustrating player to have- maybe risk a Drummond or Adcock.
Mids: I'd consider swapping Mzungu to the forwards as there are plenty of solid mids, also not sure about Claye beams.
Rucks good: keep an eye on the Nab for the Derickz selection as there may be better available.
Forwards: Look about spot on, though I'm a bit concerned with Sylvia, seems a bit like the Robbie Gray mass selection of last year: a lot of teams had him and suffered because of his injuries.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

My Team:
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, C. Enright, A. Otten, D. Heppell
(J. Toy, N. Duigan, P. Puopolo)

MID: D. Swan, J. Selwood, L. Montagna, D. Swallow, A. Gaff, J. Polec

FWD: P. Chapman, N. Riewoldt, M. Pavlich, B. Green, A. Goodes, C. Knights, A. Krakouer

Same as last year sticking with the 3 rookie/ 3 premium midfield, worked well last year.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Looks the business to me Scorpio. I like the team structure alot.

My team at the minute

DEF: B. Gibbs, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, C. Enright, B. Rawlings, A. Otten, D. Heppell (D. Stanley, J. Toy, M. Hibberd)
MID: B. Goddard, D. Swan, D. Cross, A. Krakouer, D. Harris, S. Iles (S. Atley, M. Wallis, I. Callinan)
RUC: A. Sandilands, D. Jolly (Z. Smith, R. Campbell)
FWD: P. Chapman, N. Riewoldt, L. Franklin, A. Goodes, R. O'Keefe, D. Petrie, T. Mzungu (C. Richardson, L. Tapscott, I. Smith)

Round 6 is shaping up as a difficult round with this team but am prepared to have a bad week to get the players I want from the start.

Pretty good first up apart from Bolton who is out for the pre-season. Also not sure about Hurleys SC scoring ability

team looks pretty good, have all the main prems in there. My only advice, and its only my opinion, but i would tend to only have 1 rookie back and fwd starting as it my opinion that they are the least reliable and in general tend to be less consistent compared with the rookie mids..Then again this year could be different as there seem some good rookie prospects in both back and fwds and at the end of the day you wont know until NAB stats.

Heres my team

Goddard, Deledio, Gibbs, Broughton, Grimes, Otten, Heppell
(Duigan, Poupolo, Hibberd)

Swan, Hodge, D. Swallow, Gaff, Conca, A. Krakouer
(I.Smith, Harris, Curnow)

Sandilands, Cox
(J.Tippet, Bailey)

Chapman, Riewoldt, Franklin, Brown, Goodes, Knights, Petrie
(Mzungu, Callinan, Richardson)

what you guys think?

Anyone wanna pull it to pieces?

Fairly solid.

I'm not sold on Krakouer or Leuenberger. If you can upgrade either with that massive bank of yours, personally I would upgrade Leuenberger.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Allow me...

Defence is as solid as it gets. No issue there. I have a similar defence myself. Talia wont play initially but not a bad choice - should get games later in the year.

Palmer is not good in SC. DT he's fine, but his style and kicking efficiency isnt suited to SC. Take him off your list.

Replace Lock with Gaff.

Luenburger is ok, but mitch clarke apparently tearing up the preseason, which may hurt the Burger's TOG.

Id swap Hale with Petrie.

Forwards are ok. Pavlich i think will start to decline. Rest are good. From a crows fan's perspective, Callinan is a great pick. He'll make you serious coin.

Didak is inconsistent. If you can live with that, then thats fine. But a little too up-and-down for my liking. Im always worried he'll be down when its time for finals. Having said that, I do have buddy in my side :(

Its not just your team, but Ive seen it in many teams - not many geelong players. For a team who has dominated SC scores for the past few years, many are obviously anticipating a drop. I guess with no ablett, everyone expecting selwood/bartel to get more attention. Their defenders are obviously aging and not many good forward options besides chappy and maybe varcoe.

Yeah Krakouer is a bit of a smokey for mine but I'm fairly certain of starting him. I've swapped The Burger for Mitch Clark.

Mate I really appreciate your input. I can see what you're saying about Palmer and, while I do have him in my DT, I can see how his kicking efficiency may hinder rather than help this season.

Pavlich - I'm expecting him to average around the same and to be honest, I believe I'll still get 20+ games out of him, as well as being a multi-positional player. Not that I'm not going to reconsider everyone in my squad between now and the start of the season, I just found it interesting that you pointed Pav out.

Didak - As I eluded to earlier, Didak is one that I have a big question mark over.

I've taken your blokes advise and have made the following adjustments:

Backs
No Changes

Mids
Out: Palmer
In: Hannebery

Rucks
Out: Leuenberger, Hale
In: Clarke, Petrie

Forwards
Out: Didak
In: Chapman

Bank: $34,000

As long as im not liable!

I dont know with Pav... he went a little backwards last year, which I think had a bit to do with Freo being a better side and more guys doing the work. If Freo fall out the top 8 again. Pav might be the only man to stand up. A bad Freo side means Pav sticks out!
