I have missed the last two Lions games live and I had to watch replays so I have missed the game day buzz. It is for this reason that I am very excited for tonight's game despite the impending doom. I will take a positive approach to the game and say anything can happen on the day despite prior form and other factors such as injuries, suspensions, and experience differential.

I just love seeing the guys run around ... but I do maintain - Lions by 100.
Yeah especially when I have missed the last 2 games live!

This is not the type of match day thread I wanted to return to guys! It is a game of bloody football. We are all clearly massive fans of the Lions so let's get pumped up! Anything can happen on game day and we might just sneak a miracle win!

Lions by 10!

Fremantle v Brisbane Lions at Patersons Stadium, 5.40pm (AWST)
NO LATE CHANGES
FINAL INTERCHANGES
Fremantle:
Nick Suban, Michael Barlow, Stephen Hill
Substitute: Clancee Pearce
Brisbane Lions: Claye Beams, Lewis Taylor, Zac O'Brien
Substitute: Tom Cutler

No late changes was fully expecting rocky, redden and Zorko to be late withdrawals with severe jet lag.

Here is my bold prediction - we go with them for 3 quarters and end up losing by 6 - I think we will go ok.

Bit of an aside but geez Gold Coast are coming together as a team. If they were to go deep into finals (they should reach the finals?) how much would it affect us given (according to much evidence on here, I don't know if true or not) Queenslanders apparent sporting support fickleness? 18, 236 is tonight's crowd. Not sure how many GC fans, mind you.

The Freo defensive 6 is as weak as I've seen it in recent times with Johnson and McPharlin missing. That being said, we're only likely to get into their F50 30 or so times so we'll have to convert at a high % to keep the game interesting.

Close, Mayes, Paparone and Green have all been named in our forward 6, hoping we start that way; nice mix there :footy:

Every week there's always at least a part of me that believes, but I'm finding it very hard to hear that part this week. In saying that, if we were able to somehow win this one, it would be top every other against the odds win of the past few years.

Funny in that I was just thinking the opposite....big part of me says we will lose but in my minds eye I can see us cutting them up for pace on a slippery surface

Mate it would be a miracle. I have never ever been so sure we are in for a belting. And you know I so want to be wrong.
