Fisher did some things that were simply WOW.. footy IQ poise and ability to sidestep and wrong foot players as well as he’s lightning hands is brilliant also..A very disappointing day at the office for our team and a second half as poor as any, given what was in the line to not be able to score a goal in the second half really hurts.
Its a bug bear of mine and I regularly wonder if I’m just outdated but our players refusal to attack the ball carrier makes my blood boil, I don’t understand how you can build a game plan around a policy that allows the ball carrier to have ample time and space to dispose of the ball. Forgive any errors on details here, but when Cripps handballs out to the wing under pressure in the second quarter and after what appears to be an entirety the Collingwood player gets there, has time to slip over, Re gather the ball and dispose of it with no pressure.
When the Pies player is running through the middle taking bounces, runs past the ball as he bounces it, has time to go back and grab the ball with no Blues in sight. Plenty of times as well you see players peeling off to cover a spare player, only to allow the ball carrier a clear run. It really highlights a lack of game awareness and poor attitude and a lack of fight. I may be outdated but when I see players running away from the guy with the ball, it infuriates me.
I really liked the inclusions this week and I thought both were fine, they are both young players with a lot of Improvement left, what I didn’t like was who went out, injuries aside, I thought not dropping one of the rucks was a massive mistake. Our forward line was too slow and allowed the Pies defenders to get up the ground. Hopefully it’s rectified next game.
There is some positives. Zac Fisher I need to give a shout out to, you discovered your right foot, now don’t forget it, you will Be a lot more dangerous if you can use it when you need to, I thought Fish was really good, plenty of improvement left in him but his game is improving, well done to Setters, slowly building. Walsh, always busting his arse.
To all Carlton supporters in this board, we are one game out of the top 8, one, we play 9th this Thursday, to those giving up, don’t piss and moan about a poor culture or losing mentality, we are alive until we are not.
