To be fair TDK is never going to reach his potential playing as a 2nd string ruckman.
Having TDK alongside Charlie & Harry is not the right mix, particularly on the SCG.

We have only won 2 from 6 with the two ruck combo, having more run in the side seems logical, three consecutive weeks of poor last quarters.
'Potential' is such a nebulous concept, I don't put much stock in it. In my opinion, TDK will never be a good first ruckman, his role is a second ruck/forward or nothing. I have much more hope for HOK than TDK as a ruckman.

That is just far off the mark, TDK is a ruckman or nothing, HOK is at least 2-3 years away from senior level.

Most ruckman thrive on workload, not sitting up forward 50% of the time, he still has a broader set of capabilities than any other ruckman on the list, time to back him in the 1st ruck role with Harry proving back up.

And this is why Pitto was signed on a 4-year deal while HOK was developed,I'd imagine.

It's ok to disagree but for me TDK will never be a good ruckman. I hope to be proven wrong but he hasn't shown it to me yet.

Broad skills mean nothing when you don't have the specialist skills it takes to be good in the ruck. He doesn't have a sense for ruckwork. He jumps high (often too early), and that's about it.

I've seen a few comments here about Curnow's knee.

Is that why he isn't running as much as he'd like? There some kind of niggle?

I reckon it's his ankle that he did in the last few minutes against North.

Having had one back in my playing days can tell you after a few days rest it can feel Ok - plus some strapping and maybe a jab (at AFL level) but every now and then you'll 'ping it' and it will hurt like hell.

He's clearly playing under duress but the sort of injury only healed by rest after the season. Maybe rest him before and after the bye and give him 3-4 weeks off it - might come good ?

It’s not about TDK per se, it’s about having the depth to be able to drop players that need to be dropped - it’s about being able to maintain standards.

Pretty sure if the club shared your opinion when all of Geelong/Essendon & Sydney were very keen to get TDK, we should have cashed in and taken a 1st round pick.
I would say signing Pitto to a 4 year deal who has durability issues was more insurance if TDK elected to move.

TDK has performed much better as the sole ruckman, like most ruckman he thrives on that workload.

So apparently our tackle attempts went at 50%, while the Swans went at 75%.

Think about that ... 1 in every 2 of our tackles was broken.
I was at the swans vs freo game last week, and I was chatting with a very friendly freo supporter who annoyed me agreeing with me all night. But I said to him Sydney are going to get to the GF purely on their tackling. It's mad to see they never miss a tackle or If they do they seriously disrupt the kicker. Again last night it was on show. Heeney and rowbottom are surely rugby league tacklers

I'm back to the old complaint now after watching the last four weeks- Carlton lacks enough depth in mongrel - and is also carrying far too many dumb footballers - so add no dummies to the no runt rule.

Oh and before I go out for the day and play some golf and take it out on the golf ball- Sydney watered the ground last night before the game started- apparently they do this all the time- guess how many Carltomn players slipped over and fell on their heads just trying to turn or in a contest last night - and compare to the number of Sydney players that DIDN"T ( hint: Sydney didn't have one player fall over all night)

which brings me up to another thing that really really pizzed me orf- Harry McKay falls over onto his back in every single contest - irrespective of making contact or not - LAME.
I did hear that rumour that they water the ground. But it doesn't make sense. We are easily the best team with ball in hand, so why would they water it. I think many people on the Sydney board hate night games as it's slippery in Sydney for some reason. Just wanted to clear that up, swans are never going to water the ground down if they rely on ball movement

(from memory) the TV commentary made a point of it pre-game as did one of our posters who was there early - the point I was making was the difference in keeping feet between the teams ...irrespective of conditions ...

Hope I didn't upset anyone in the game thread, drunk angry and emotional.
I had such high hopes for this season ,injuries as usual are killing us as is lack of speed.

Metricon is the same at night.

There isn't much to say about that one. If it was T20 we'd have had a great night. I think it was mostly the Swannies, once they found a gear they were pretty impressive. I'm liking E Hollands, some of his handball is very good. Newman can take a bow. God awful night, seated in the Swans members too, oh well, let's see how they respond.

It's unbelievably frustrating watching without being able to vent. It's like they are being told to play without using their own instinct, to be micromanaged, when last year they just tended to trust themselves, instinctive footy.

There's still hope though, they're only a week away of third.......

10th on the ladder 10 rounds in - I would have laughed at someone suggesting that this is where we’d be getting close to the half way point of the season. Yet here we are.
Ladder isn't too important this early in the season just gotta focus on our own performances. Most likely case is we will be one win out of the top 4 when this round ends after playing Giants/Cats/Pies/Dees/Swans in our last 5.

On last nights showing Harry and Charlie were hardly the best KPFs going around. Out of form atm.

Swans backline hardly raised a sweat in the second half so dominant was their midfield, again Blues midfield did well in first quarter but Swans got on top.
I think they just had poor service from the middle and possibly SCG was hard to organize themselves?
McKay and Curnow are just unstoppable when the service coming in is half decent. I’d go as far as to say Carlton can’t be beaten if those two are given Quality service. Both men absolutely monsters particularly Curnow.

Steady on. We are equal on 24 with many teams are we not? % only dif.

We’ve played 5 of the top 6 teams on the ladder. We aren’t going to be playing top 4 teams every second week from here on out
With the way the ladder is shifting week to week, we're bound to be playing a fair few top 8 teams as the weeks go on. Important thing is getting key players back and ensuring that we don't do any further damage to our weak percentage.
