I think SDK needs to be given an opponent, he has that competitive nature. If he is told you take this guy and shut him down. He gets caught between in the zone sometimes. I think he did a great job the times he was near King last week he is selfless and makes some big spoils when needed on one of the best forwards in the competition who gets the ball channeled solely through him.

It'll be tough and Adelaide are a bit more likely, but we're still a red hot shot. If Bruhn is out then it gets trickier.

Walker and Fogarty back brings them back to that finalist level, fired up at home and desperate to avoid an 0-2 start.

Win this and we can start to dream of an early claim for top 4, with Hawthorn at the G and Bulldogs in Adelaide to follow.

Fogarty played for them on the weekend. He just played horrible, the weather conditions probably played a factor in that.

Tex and Fogarty both back this week- they will be a different unit compared to last, plus they have been heavily scrutinised. If we win this, it'll be reminiscent of 07. We rarely beat Adelaide in Adelaide. I think we can hope for a win, but could hardly expect it. Need SDK to live up to his potential. Surely TDK is the better DK at present. Would not have thought that possible in 22.
Dubsy you sold me up the river regarding Fogarty's "return". I didn't catch that match but apparently it was only Tex that missed. Which is a sizeable factor but losing two key forwards is much worse.

Playing ruck is a lot easier than playing on the best key forward every week.
TDK also got dropped to the VFL after 5 rounds last year and was predicted to leave the club.
Think SDK and back 6 just need time to be playing together again after not being able to play
together for any sustained period of time last season due to all the injuries.

As long as one of Bruhn or Bowes play, I'm pretty confident.

One of those two solidifies the midfield as competitive, and probably better than what Adelaide have to offer.

With how good the forward line is, and how well we set up defensively, that's going to be the deciding factor most weeks. Midfield wins = We win.

Reading their board, they're off Laird, have been off Crouch for years, it's really only Dawson who's a legit gun.

Hopefully Bruhn's fit, and considering he played 3 quarters, he probably should be...if not, play Bowes.

In the unlikely event that neither play, we're going to need something pretty special from Danger and a coming out party for Jhye, Mannagh or someone of that ilk.

As others have said though, pretty nonplussed about this game.

The confidence has certainly grown, but I had this as a loss when the fixture came out, so not exactly panicking if we go down.

2-0 with the Hawks & Dogs to come would be a dream, 1-1 ain't awful either.

Tanner Bruhn will be a test to take on the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Friday night as he recovers from a foot sprain.

Bruhn left the field midway through the first quarter during Saturday night’s game against St Kilda to be assessed and was able to return to play out the game.

“Tanner had a low-level generalised mid-foot sprain in the first quarter and was able to play the game out and performed really well,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager – Football Brett Johnson said.

“Tanner will be assessed this week. We’ll see how he goes at training, and he will be a test this week to play against the Crows.”

Midfielder Jack Bowes will be unavailable for the Friday night clash as he continues to build his training loads back up this week after a calf complaint ruled him out of the Cats’ season-opener.

“Jack has been hampered by a really heavy lower-leg contusion (corky) that he got in training,” Johnson said.

“We just want to make sure with Jack that we just re-establish his training loads over the course of this week, and we expect him to be available for selection for Round 3.”

I take back what I said re/Bowes.

Damn you Scotty, and your "He'll play next week" narrative.

As the saying goes though, fool me once...you get the idea.

Wasn’t Scott CERTAIN that Bowes would be available for this week (just being precautionary - that word again - to leave him our round 1?). Now we are being told he will certainly be available round 3…hmmm

Scott enjoys trolling all and sundry in these situations. A peculiar hobby but maybe this is his creative outlet.

Re: Bowes, other than this from last week's 'Team Selection' announcement, was there another mention of his availability?

Jack Bowes was unavailable for Round 1 selection due to a calf complaint, with the club to have a better idea of his availability moving forward next week.

Do you mean as it stands now, as STper18 posted the health update above?
Not sure, but information is more readily available in communist countries it seems.

Here's an idea.
Instead of Duncan or Shannon Neale doing his roving Brian jokey interviews, and the cats media "who is the worst person to sit next to on the bus" type malarkey........

Instead they

Interviewed the injured players!

Nope

I mean as per last week - was there any info regarding Bowes to say he would be playing round 2, or just that we'd learn more this week?

And we it stands, we do have more of an idea this week in that he won't be playing round 2 and hopeful for round 3

After a close win at home first up, it'd be an interesting angle. Ignore the celebrations and look for hurt Cats.

"Hey are you injured?"
"Yep"
"How do you feel about it?"
"Pretty flat"
"When can we expect to see you back?"
"No idea mate"

That would be awesome, actually.

Yep, confidentiality is a bitch. But I'd love to hear it, read their faces.
At least it would only be the player lying, and not the Coach.

Scott's Friday presser. Literally said "He'll play next week".

We're the idiots though, as we should know by now that actually means "We have no idea if he's even alive, and we'll check on his wellbeing sometime in the next month".

Bowes could be trapped in a sandbox being fed rations from the Corio Roadhouse for all we know.

Scott initially said in his presser post game that he assumed Bowes would be fine for this week.

Tbf he then walked it back somewhat and was a bit more noncommittal, but still said it was very minor and that he’d be back shortly
