Really need to win, Saints are the worst they have been for a long time, the two players who tend to cause us issues in King and Membrey are gone/injured.

But Rossball is shit, and always weirdly causes us issues.

About time we gave this rabble an absolute thrashing, would love this to be the game Neale breaks out and kicked 4-5, or Cameron gets a bag.

Either way, we should and need to win this by over 50 points. As Scott says its not who you play but when, and we won't get a worse Saints outfit this year.

I don't think you've got much to worry about. We're missing King, Phillipou, Sharman, Howard, Butler, Henry and Dow while Marshall, Sinclair, Clark and Owens are severely underdone/still injured. Coming off an interstate game and a 6 day break too. I can see this getting ugly early.
I see what you did there.

And it is worth noting that it was showing every sign of getting ugly early last time around, until we stopped to a walk at the long break and you put on your best Geelong 07-11 impression for the second half.

Given that context for how we tend to go against your boys at Marvel, it thus only remains to nominate this week's 'Minchington Award' recipient. I'll go with Hugo Garcia for my shot at the engraved cufflinks.

Seems that in the past they've got us at the right time - last year they finished the season really well while we struggled for consistency all year, really. 2023 they got us at the right time as we were physically shot by the end of the year and in 2022, we struggled for consistency in the first few months before dominating the comp.

Here's hoping the shoe is well and truly on the other foot this week.

If we take last weeks tackling game to Marvel we shite this in 10 goals. I do remember however a while back now the Cats having a huge tackling game V Bulldogs similar to last week and it was never seen again.
Still think we get the job done if we can work our way around the bus Ross will park across our half forward line.Cats by 3 goals.

I don't think we have to worry about that.

We might struggle to maintain the extreme level we saw on the weekend every week, but it won't be a one off.

The game-plans between now and the 2017 match you mention are completely opposed to each other.

A slow and methodical, high possession kick/mark game, compared to a low possession transition game that priorities pressure and speed.

Agree with the sentiment though. Bring anything like we did last week and this should be a comfortable victory.

Watched Lyons pressser. He's a mug. Only too happy to stick the boots in by quiping "they have alot going on down there".
Genuinely shocked you would go there at all, as an opposition coach. Yet more evidence that Ross consistently reminds me of school holidays...

Pulled his hat from the ring when Carlton wanted to do some due diligence on him before offering their head coaching gig. Tells you all you need to know.

I've never rated him to be honest.
In the early days he was a dour disciplinarian who had a 3 year effect which would then wear off - couldn't raise the Cup with an extremely talented Saints side and wore out his welcome at the Dockers amid disturbing rumours ( see Christian Horner type behaviour at Red Bull)
Destined to be a bitter and twisted relic of the past once this gig is up.

I don't like to admit it but I think Mitchell is an exceptional coach - the players love him and tactically he's creative and plays to their strengths. What's worse is I actually enjoy watching the Hawks play
They are emerging fast and looks like the rivalry could be back to where it's been in the past.
Oh I agree. He's got that club humming. I just really, really enjoy 'hating' Hawthorn. There's enough scum and villainy out there in the world of politics both foreign and domestic that footy-hate is almost a blissful innocence these days!

F*ck I hate Hawthorn:p

Just gotta hope Jhye isn’t the sub again….
I also hope to see him start, but If he doesn't and only plays in the last 1/4 as sub again he possibly could get a run in the VFL on Sunday to get more game time into him (we've done it before with players).

He didn't play many minutes in the 2x practice matches either and only 14% game time last week so he needs time actually playing.

We pumped centre-square minutes into Knevitt in the preseason in what I can only assume is a way to fast-track him as another stoppage mid-option... Possibly/probably because we weren't confident in Bruhn's finger coming good any time soon.

Clark/Knevitt will now see more AFL time than I expected this year... Hopefully they grab it with both hands.

Dropping Boyd is a good move by the Saints, they won't need two rucks to outpoint SDK at hitouts, Marshall will smash him on his own unfortunately. Just up to SDK now to make an impact with his post-stoppage work.

Marshall was cooked last game and couldn’t even finish the match. SDK to run him ragged

If he keeps getting 25 & a goal per game he'll be All Australian in no time ;)
