He sprinted from 10 mtres forward of the centre circle to 40 out calling for it, then gave up and went to shepherd.

It is one of the things I have noted a lot in the VFL is the refusal to honor good leads, or give the ball off to someone in a better position. I'm not sure our players are totally committed to each other as a group. I hope I'm wrong.

I rekon half of the over-reactions after a loss are a result of the ridiculously outlandish things people say before the game. Predicting we'll smash this club or that, and then getting down on the players when they don't fulfill the ridiculous predictions.

You can't have it both ways folks, either the team lacked the skills required to finish off Essendon* or they lacked the heart to put themselves into a winning position, but they couldn't lack both.

We were 3 goals up going into the last and two of our final quarter shots hit the post. That's not a lack of skill, it's just bad luck. If we kick any 3 of the goals that we missed, it's game over and everyone would be in here jumping on the bandwagon and singing the praises of the players. Anyone remember the post game thread after the North game? That was a much more severe choke than tonight's game, against a poorer opposition. What a difference six points makes!

So glad I asked the club to put Kade's picture on my membership this year ... wish Mick had the foresight to tap him for captain.

Yeah it's early but you can tell a guy like Menzel straight away looks the goods. I just didn't like some of Graham's decision making and execution, although he had plenty of mates in that area tonight.

Obviously I was making a joke at Joseph's expense. Clearly he wasn't brought in just to hurt someone, but he was never going to be useful for much else.
Btw yes I played a bit of country footy, & plenty of blokes are out there trying to line others up. Not sure where you're going with that comment

I'd watch the replay and check, but I don't want to put myself through that again. Several posters have said the same thing, so I'll take your word for it.

Having said that though, Armfield has been a better shot for goal than Chris over the last couple of seasons, so maybe you can't blame him. Personally, I'd like to see more of them willing to take the responsibility of having the shot ... for example, Chris deciding to pass to Bryce on a much worse angle when he was dead in front and only slightly further out ...

Very harsh mate. Kids played 2 games coming off an injury interrupted season. Won the morrish medal last Yr in the TAC. Granted has a lot to learn but I'd say your going a bit early at the very least
