3 weeks in a row we have control of a game and the opposition coach makes adjustments and we are left scratching our heads.

We have more than enough talent on the field we just don’t have a coach who knows what he is doing. 3 wins from 35 matches, enough said.
We had all the momentum in the last quarter...players just couldn’t convert....need more composure..that’s killing us atm

bolton instructs them to play that way by bringing casboult in the team. bombing it on his head to take a contested mark/crash a pack is the only way casboult can contribute. if we don't do that with him then we play with 17 men on the field.

bolton tried to do the best with the team that he had, but the team that he selected the wrong team in the first place IMO
How is it any different to when Charlie is in the team instead? It's the same plan - one forward a kick away from the ball and the other two closer to F50 so there is a set of hands for each kick up the ground. We didn't do anything different to the previous few weeks. The result has very little to do with Cas being in the team.

Polson is not up to it. Gibbons may need some time in the NBs to polish up whatever it is Bolton wants him to do.
Good to see Ed lock in a forward role, and kick goals.
Must keep Harry deep in attack.
Kade Simpson. Tough call, but getting close to his use by date.
Still perplexed why Kennedy was sitting in the stands. As stupid a non-selection as Harry's last year.

Personal opinion, but I see zero point picking Simpson or Daisy any longer. Murphy and Kruezer right behind them. The only team that should take the field now is the one that is our future.

Lol at people blaming coaching and small forwards for loss.

Inside 50 delivery was horrendous, and easy shots at goals missed while Sydney kicked theirs.

That’s the difference. Swap betts and polson today and same result.

Dow has so much potential but skills and defence need work.

Jones was immense. Cripps bog imo. Harry would have won game if he brought his boots, Walsh such a competitor.

On a positive, we’ve been in all 3 games against quality opposition all year. Disappointing to lose but hey..

Yeah frustrating that commentators were suggesting Kennedy beat out Cripps in a head to head purely because Kennedy had more touches, when Cripps had him well beaten in contested ball and clearances. Surely you have to devalue each Swans possession a little when they play a game so heavy in uncontested possessions...

31 losses out of the last 34 games, players continuing to miss the easiest of goals, players continuing to butcher the ball repeatedly, structure flies right out the window as soon as any pressure is applied to us....

If the same thing keeps happening year after year after year, what’s the point of having a coach if he can’t improve fix any of it?

You sound like the media, just drawing the line at our last win, surely you are not including last year considering all the injuries

A few things from today. We are crying out for two small forwards who can provide some link up play when pushing up, play front of centre at a contest and also hit the scoreboard. But most importantly, have clean hands and ball control. Gibbons and Polson don't have these traits what so ever. Polson is so rushed in what he does it has become so frustrating to watch. When Ed Curnow is your best forward scoreboard wise, you know theres issues. Secondly, i've already harped after the first two games that Bolts is playing funny games implementing a down the boundary tactic, which is giving us all bad memories of the dark days 5-6 years ago. Its shocking. I still have queries for Bolts as a game day coach, not as a coach of player management/man management at training etc. He really needs to start hitting his straps soon asap. I don't like the coaching merry-go-round we see, but the pressure is going to come soon thick and fast. The zone set-up during a chain of play isn't working as well either at the moment.

Thirdly, our effort today was poor. Disposal was shocking and there was no ferocity shown by most of the group selected to play today. Countless times we corral a opposing player but never approach to lay a physical tackle. Esp when we have one on one situations where there is no space for the opposing player to move. This frustrates me the most. Fisher, Daisy, SPS took a long time to get started and involved in the game which hurt us. Our link up play between the arcs was horrible and our mids did not work hard enough both ways.

But just to highlight some positives; Murph was improved from last week. Cripps was immense again as was Walshy. He should be close to a rising star nom this week. Weitering and Jones were fantastic today as well. H and Casboult did what they could once Gov went off for the second half.

I would love Kennedy and J.Silvagni in this week. I think a good performance in the two's warrants them a spot. I miss Kreuzer :(

So a week of footy classified, on the couch and game day highlights of Liam towelling Buddy?

Paul Roos to do a 10 minute examination of Liam’s work on Monday night?
Buddy kicked 2..one very soft free kick ..and he sooked the whole game looking for frees like a squealing little bitch..

Still need some experience out there. Kreuzer probably the most required of that quartet but yeah, the value having the other three out there is reducing weekly.

This is the stats for our tall backs today... Uninformed posters and criticising Plowman, name a more iconic duo.

But go on, keep saying Plowan's the problem....

Much more interested in how these guys play defensively, and Plowman was horrendous in this area today.

Marchbank you can see was underdone, but he’ll be better with some games under his belt.

Weitering was so-so, Jones was fantastic.

No idea why Plowman is a sacred cow on this forum. He’s always full of effort, but he’s just so mediocre, and is still playing at the same (reasonably low) level he did when he got to the club.

It works both ways. You want to pat the coach on the head because we fort the last quarter out and started the game well. Yet is not responsible for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Very selective but that’s pretty common with your posting style.

No what I am saying is this is a developing group, both players and coaching staff recognizing all limitations

charlie has other strings to his bow. you can handball to running charlie, if the ball hits the deck inside 50 he can get it and do something with it. charlie can spread from the contest and run hard to provide an option. yes we still bomb it on charlies head down the line sometimes but we're not limited to that.

last week the conditions were bad so happy to bomb it down the line in that scenario, but we still spread the play from defense at times last week. ball movement in round 1 and 2 was okay, today it was deplorable...

playing casboult is so limiting tactically that i'm literally questioning bolton's competency based solely in his selection today.

Do you think our game plan is a good one whatever that game plan is because I certainly can’t figure it out?

I think it is still evolving, I was critical last year given the injuries that we should have remained more defensive to minimize the floggings, yet the upside of an attacking game plan will benefit the future.

Doesn't take long for you to descend to opposition like posts rather than analyzing the situation

I have already analyzed the situation but you chose to ignore it and chose to play it personal.

We are not spreading and using the ball - we won the stoppages and clearances (so young bodies is not an excuse) and yet players are stationary to instructions and not spreading. How many times does it need to be explained to you before you get it?

There is still a bit of work to be done obviously, but ultimately we will have arrived when Murphy is no longer on our list.

I agree. When we no longer have to rely on a 180cm player to be our lead up forward out of defence because he's the only one that presents we will have indeed arrived.
