butters played half of the first qtr that game too before getting injured, we missed having our best player. you guys won clearance that game im pretty sure from memory, pretty comfortabley.
Offset by not having Jackson (arguably our best or most important player) and half of Darcy. Thin Jye also missed and the forward line looked like a bunch of WAFL players poorly masquerading as AFL players.

I expect a 20ish point loss because your midfield terrifies me but it could be a great game. We’ll go faster than we did against Carlton

Port's midfield makes the Freo 2012 to 2019 one look like 1960's Inter Milan when it comes to defense. They have to play blokes like Drew because not even one of their primary mids runs two ways. Despite their spread and goal kicking they don't look like a Premiership winning midfield to me; not even close to balanced. Much happier with our mix.
gws absolutely taught them a lesson last year in the finals, they got smashed in the middle, very gettable

We have seen how influential Dogga can be in the ruck. He would have gotten brownlow votes playing that position for us this season. With Darcy back, he can physical wear down the opposition's number one ruck. Inject Jackson into the midfield against a tired ruck in the 4th quarter and we could really cause some pain.
Agree, and we could also continue to give Treacy ruck bursts in the early part of the game.

I know it was a practice match but did we not have our full midfield available and still get smashed?
I remember being somewhat competitive until Darcy left the game then we were destroyed. With both Darcy and Jackson now available it should be far more competitive in the Midfield.

True

Get Montagna on board maybe ?

On Vic media I’m liking what I’m hearing from David King lately and today

He usually tears strips off Freo but today he said we probably should be a lock for top 6
Encouraging!
Yeah but.....

difficult to respect an analyst who is shifting their position after the evidence is there. Borderline bandwagonning.

Will be great to see JAckson in mid field too. an extra big running player.

Hopefully they dont burn Darcy out with a full game. potentially will need to rest him a lot and maybe sub him out if we a long way behind in final qtr.

better to change after Evidence than before evidence :)

but in the end , we dont need analysts , we just need the coach and players remaining focused and winning that premiership soon

Of course, taking note of the bleeding obvious is always a good idea, but it's not going to lift his standing as an analyst.

If chapman is ready, I think Freo should go with
In: Chapman, Darcy, Ras, JOM, Worner
Out: Hughes, Tabs, Switta, Freddy, Johnson (Sub)
And line up like this

Ryan Pearce Aish
Worner Draper Clark
Sharp Serong Chapman
Walters Jackson Banfield
Treacy Amiss Emmett
Foll: Darcy Brayshaw Fyfe
IC: Walker, JOM, Ras, Young, Sub: Johnson

I think Chapman needs another week at Peel to give him confidence in his body, though I would love him in - most likely for Hughes - though he has been doing pretty well as long as he doesn't get ahead of himself in his disposals.

So changes:
Ins: Darcy, Ras
Outs: Tabs, Freddy

Feel like if they were ready Jack DeLean or Cooper Simpson then maybe they could come in as a replacement for Freddy, but they didn't really get any disposals last week for Peel.

Think you've nailed it (pending Darcy)

Jom to play a full game and ras to be sub

The more the week goes on, I actually feel like Darcy isn't gonna play, so might just be Freddy for Ras

O'Driscoll said in the interview after the Peel game that both he and Chapman will likely play full WAFL minutes next match.

From watching the broadcast I don't think Chapman came on until halfway through the first quarter against Subiaco and was seen on the sidelines during the match, suggesting he had limited game time, although he did enough when he was out there to be one of Peel's better players.

Wednesday is the training session for Darcy.

When our midfield shows Port how it’s done, and we announce ourselves with a 15-20 point win over Port this weekend, the Vic media will all jump on (reluctantly) but still find a reason why we’re not a premiership contender

It's fate! I have always said it was the away game against Port in 2012 (round 18) the marked the point where the Lyon game plan finally clicked. Won 3 of out last 6 home and away games (5-1 overall) by 9 goals plus including the Pav defeats West Coast game and the North Melbourne at Docklands 'Hard to Beat' game. Then won an Elimination final in Melbourne. In fact after round 13 the only team we lost a game to was the Crows.

Switkowski is a test.

Banfield should be moved into the forward line for Frederick to cover. Bring in Worner and Aish plays wing.

Good to hear Frederick is only 1 week. Comes back v West Coast.

Can see Tabs staying in for this reason. Rotate Darcy to the bench with Jackson on field
