Would love to see occonor go to Mitchell - If we want him to tag I think we need to give him continuity in the middle - also think he could end up a solid mid in his own right with contested ball and release handballs out of traffick

Can't look past the fact Hawthorn are bottom of the table for contested possessions & clearances. Two of the most important statistics in modern footy and particularly in wet weather conditions where metres gained are of extra importance.
If we get on top in these two areas, time in our forward half will start tallying up and it will lead to a bevvy of scoring opportunities.

This game will tell us a lot about Sam Mitchell the coach. If he devises a strategy to counter their early season deficiencies, they may have themselves a good one for the future.

I always wore long sleeves in the wet. Stops a skidding ball sliding off your forearms.
And they don’t wear jumpers that hold much water.

As for the ground. This is the mcg. It won’t be heavy.

Depends if he plays VFL next week or not

Maybe it's a case he's good to play if required but if he can have the week off then even better

Higgins is returning from a concussion, so maybe they'd rather not risk him & have him right to go for next week in Hobart

Zuth played Thursday night, so unlikely to be sub today, and doubt we would have gone with Ratugolea as sub



And they could have easily called Kolodjashnij omitted & then play him as the sub - that's what happened with Dahlhaus a couple of weeks back
