Why would the club have preferred Mini 3 years ago over say McRae? What is so good about Mini?

I will be bloody furious if they don’t look elsewhere and interview others outside the club.
Mini is a carbon copy of fly the preferred him due to his tactical nous

Fly is a teacher and motivator

Mini is all this plus tactically brilliant and has been their longer so has more knowledge inside the walls

Let’s hope you’re right, if mini is a fly clone it’s bright skies ahead.

Then they are not carbon copy...

I get the feeling in today's game, the numero uno has to be that motivator and teacher type, supported well by the tactical best...
I'm not sure the other way works to be honest.

The biggest sell of the system comes from the cockroach, he sells/motivates/teaches/preaches/implores, even if he doesn't come up with it!

Mini might just be the best tactician in the game, but that doesn't automatically equal best head coach available

Hey are you the new Fanboy on the block as a lot of what you're saying contradicts what the club has been saying in terms of looking for a new coach? I'm not buying into the club having him down as the next coach in 2021 as we had other candidates that were on the list such as Fly, Kingsley and Leppa. You said it was a three year succession plan, but Dimma's contract was to end in 2024 which is humorous at the best bc what made him more outstanding than the other candidates so far in advanced? Why wouldn't the club just announce him as coach and ask for nominations? I think you're just making things up and blowing smoke up MINIBUS' poo hole. You are in the box seat to be right, but with the wrong information.
I will give you a public apology if I'm wrong.

No need to ever apologise my friend

It's been known by everyone this was going to be the case it's not new news

They've loved mini for along time his worked the hard way and stayed loyal despite the offers from other clubs to coach

Yeh I tend to think that when he rejected the carlton assistant role, and in particular st kilda under ross that there was a bit of an understanding he'd be the senior the coach at Richmond

Still doesn't make sense YD as it assumed back in 2021 that Dimma was going to leave in 2024. Yet he's still hungry to coach.
EVERYONE ?? You're the only person coming out with it. So again it still sounds far fetched.

Dimma ain't hungry to coach his just not going to knock back the pay day from the sun's

His time at Richmond was coming to an end

It's given us a 12 month head start

If Mini McWalter was the coach in waiting then why are we going through this process and not just have him appointed already ?
Just doesnt make sense

For me he was always behind McRae , Leppa & Caracella and is pretty much the last man standing and in many ways is a Dimma lite
Now he may become a great coach who knows but he has been at Richmond for nearly 10 years and assistant for 7+
But never really considered for any senior coaching positions or been mentioned and his entire coaching has pretty much been under Dimma
Just feel he is too young and needs another 5 years under a different coach in his apprenticeship to be the finished coach

But i suppose the club would know what he has to offer

I just feel Josh Carr has had more to offer and has done more in his coaching career

Port Adelaide assistant coach (2011-2015)

Between 2011 and 2015, Carr served as an assistant coach for Port Adelaide under senior coaches Matthew Primus and Ken Hinkley

North Adelaide Football Club senior coach (SANFL) (2016-2019)

Between 2016 and 2019, he served as senior coach of the North Adelaide Roosters in the SANFL, guiding the club to the premiership in 2018

Fremantle Football Club assistant coach (2019-2021)

In October 2019, Carr was appointed by Fremantle as an assistant coach for the 2020 season under senior coach Justin Longmuir.[5] On July 30, 2021, the club announced that Carr had stood down for an unstated period after he was fined by police for breaching WA quarantine restrictions

Port Adelaide assistant coach (2023-present)

Carr returned to Port Adelaide Football Club as senior assistant coach under senior coach Ken Hinkley for the 2023 season

Reason was club rated him higher then leppa carra and fly

They all left knowing they would never coach Richmond while mini was there

The process is only to appease the masses who will complain we didn't do due diligence

His had plenty offers in last 10 yearz bit has stood faithful

He is a mcrae clone but better

Thats Rubbish mate

Leppa is on record on why they /he left
Caracella moved to the club he played for with a massive pay increase
Fly has always moved to futher his coaching career and his development and was assistant to Voss , Malthouse , Buckley , Dimma and Clarkson and coached the Richmond VFL.

Leppa left when the soft cap was cut and Dimma was on such a large deal it was not financially viable for him to stay when he was making more $$$ in the media.

Mini would have been the 2nd last cab off the rank with just Clarke behind in the old crew

Not sure where you are getting the Mcrae clone from he is nothing like Fly or have anywhere near the experience

I’ve never heard any of this before. I can’t believe Benny , Peggy , Balmey and whoever went out ranked our assistants.
It’s Ripley believe or not stuff.
He’s not a Fly clone and that’s more nonsense. For starters Fly coaches on the boundary whilst Minibus sits in the box.
I just gave you the obvious bc they’re actually two very different coaching methods on game day.

I am confident it’s between Mini and Carr, my view they are no1 and 2 for the position. Mini won’t be just gifted the top job.

Given the way Mini has gone about it since taking over, if he isn't appointed as the head coach moving forward, then the coach we do appoint will have well and truly earned it, but at the same time, the pressure is going to be on them to bring results from the get go, as I suspect that there will be many a Richmond fan who has pretty much appointed McQualter to the position in their minds already. As far as I'm concerned the position is still wide open and I trust that those in charge of appointing the new coach will select the best person for the role. I've got a feeling that we may be surprised by the actual appointment
